Welcome Mat Overview

Do you have a community lot no one visits? Does your sim own a business that could use more traffic? Are there lots in your neighborhood that are downright desolate? If so, I may have the object for you!

In one of my games I had a sim that owned an arcade. The arcade was a large lot full of fun items. The only problem with the lot was the number of sims that used it. There were never more that two or three sims at a time and the place looked deserted! That was the reason I created the Welcome Mat.

The Welcome Mat is an innocuous round carpet that can be placed on a community lot to draw a crowd. The object will invite sims to a lot up to a limit that you set. Once on the lot the sims are free to do as they please.

Welcome Mat Features:
-Sims are invited slowly over time to prevent overwhelming surges of sims.
-Configurable invite speed.
-Configurable max sim limit.
-Set an opening time and closing time for the lot.
-Include or exclude Sims from being invited based on age and/or gender.
-Include or exclude supernatural sims (any occult type) from being invited.
-Sims from the active household are never invited.
-Sims who are at work or school are never invited.
-Sims can be sent home when the lot closes.
-Configuration report shows you all the settings at a glance
-Sims are automatically greeted, so a business can be run on a residential lot.

What's new in version 2.0:

Parts of the mod have been rewritten. I have learned a great deal about the game and have revised the internal process for inviting sims. As part of this I can now tell you how many sims per hour will be invited for each invite speed setting.

Very Slow = 6 sims per hour
Slow = 10 sims per hour
Medium = 15 sims per hour
Fast = 20 sims per hour
Very Fast = 30 sims per hour
Extreme = 60 sims per hour

Max sims that can be invited has been raised to 200. I don't recommend inviting that many even if you have that many available. I have had as many as 98 sims on a lot and the game handled it very well.

The number of sims on a lot is reported differently. Role sims (bartenders, waiters, etc.) and service NPCs are no longer count towards the mods sim limit. On the settings and information window you can see there are Guest Sims and Total Sims. The Total Sims count includes everyone.

You can now have the mod only work on certain days of the week. There is a new menu called Day Filter that allows you select which days to be open. The default is to be open every day of the week.

Automatic Mode - The mod can now turn itself on and off depending on the presence of a selectable sim (one that you control). This allows the mod to send extra sims only when your sim is on the lot and it will remain off when your sim is not present. I use this quite a bit in my own game. There is no reason for the dance club to be packed if my sim is not there to participate.

Routing Mode - There are two choices for how a sim routes once they are on the lot. The first option, Route Directly To Mat, is the same way the original object worked. Sims will attempt to route directly to to Welcome Mat when they enter the lot, standing on it if possible. The second option, Route To Randomized Position, will have a sim route to a random position near the welcome mat.

Set Random Position Spread - If you choose Route To Randomized Position for the routing mode this option allows you to set the distance from the mat the sim can be. The distance is measured in meters, which works out to be one meter per floor tile. The destination region is a square area around the welcome mat. Try to make sure that the entire region around the mat up to the spread radius is clear of objects (tables, chairs, etc.). If there are objects in the area the sims may complain that they can't go where they have been told to go. It's harmless, but annoying. For example, if you set the Set Random Position Spread to 2, the destination region will be a 5x5 floor tile area centered around the welcome mat.

Currently Seeking Employment:
I am a talented C# programmer who is looking for work. This mod is written entirely in C#. In the process of creating it I spent many hours using
dnspy to analyze the massive pile of code that makes up the game's objects. If you are an employer (or work for one) that needs someone to
code in C#, my resume is available on request.
