The Spacers Choice Edition is different, worse version. It isn't newer version, it isn't better version, it has nothing to do with original developers, nothing to do with original art design. You should avoid that version.
Its not outdated. Spacers Choice counts as a different title. Even by its devs an puiblishers. Its not an update or DLC. This mod still works with OG OW so its completely fine.
This is untrue .. The Spacers Choice edition is different (that is true) .. BUT .. it absolutely is done by Obsidian, who owns the IP. It is also the base game plus both the DLCs for a good price when on sale (it is even FREE on Humble Bundle if you paid for July 2023)
It does have redesigned graphics and is all the DLCs combined, so only mods designed to be used on all DLCs combined will work.
But different is not worse, just different. And free makes everything better.
No, Spacer's Choice has nothing to with Obsidian regardless of who owns the IP. Do some research before spreading misinformation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOMMIfZreZs
@caparzzo Almost everything in that video is conjecture, incorrect or very outdated.. He even clearly states this as he says "here's what i think happened" So if you want to talk about misinformation, you are the one spreading it :P
Spacers Choice works perfectly fine now. It did have a lot of issues at launch, but quite a few patches got rolled out since.
The only thing I am not personally a fan of in the spacers choice version is the somewhat oversaturated colors, but that's easily fixed with a filter. The textures and overall look of the game have been massively improved though. Personally I would consider the visual upgrade reason enough to pick this version over the original.
Saying Obsidian had nothing to do with this is a bit disingenuous if you ask me.. The spacers choice version was co-developed by Obsidian & Virtuos. You can buy it right of Obsidian's own website where it also clearly shows this. (This seems sort of obvious to me, but without Obsidian, working on a remaster wouldn't even be possible since they are the one who have the source code for the game.)
Some people seem to have gotten confused by rumors of this game having been released because "the license almost ran out", the video you link also mentions this. I'm not sure where this story came from but I can't find any reputable source that confirms this.
Private Division & Virtuos never had any license to begin with. Private Division was just the publisher, they never owned Obsidian nor The Outer Worlds. Virtuos is a sub contractor that works for many studios, and in this case was most likely contracted by Obsidian to make this new version. (Private Division could never decide to do this on their own since they do not own the IP.)
So.. was it a cashgrab? Probably.. Developers and publisher release games to make money, and since Outer Worlds 2 was delayed it probably seemed like the perfect time to release a remaster and collect some extra funds.
Yo, this seems to cause crashes on the steam verson. I am using both ini files unmodified from the download and crash frequently during loading screens.
Everything ultra and tested both replacing the original ini files and creating a mod folder in Steamapps \common \The outer worlds\indiana\content\paks\~mods
WHY would you disable mouse smoothing though? Like that literally only makes things better? Aiming is more accurate and the screen doesnt jitter up, down left or right.
Mouse smoothing means that that the programming is controlling how far your mouse moves, not you. It's about predicting where you want the mouse to be and moving it there.
For people who play a lot of shooters, it's an poor experience. It's slower. It's not as precise. It creates subtle input lag as it waits for multiple inputs, then combines them. And like mouse acceleration, it's terrible for people who don't just play shooters, but actively work to improve their control in them (like matching sensitivity between games, practicing aim, etc.) It feels like someone else has their hand on your mouse and is moving it differently than you are, resulting in a constant struggle to get it to do what you want.
For people who primarily play games like this for the RPG/exploration elements and don't care about the shooter elements, it's fine.
tl;dr - a lot of people make an effort to improve their control over this type of game. Smoothing and acceleration actively work to take that control away.
You trolling, or just dont know what mouse smoothing is lmao. It does not make you more accurate, only time thatll happen, is if you dont realize youve been using it for a while and gotten use to it. But 100% chance if you practice with out it, youll be quite a bit better. Itll literally cause the mouse to keep moving after you stopped moving the mouse. For a very short time, but its still very noticeable as it feels like a delay of sorts
THANK YOU! THIS MOD IS A NECESSITY FOR OUTER WORLDS
Took out the no-dof setting, and added two other lines suggested by the commenters, game looks great and it's almost stutter-free now. (I think no-dof is the real setting that helps fix the stutter issues though, but I kinda like that setting so that's a sacrifice I made lol.) Edit: I added a reshader too but the game still looks like crap, but at least I get no headaches anymore.

This mod is outdated. The The Spacers Choice engine.ini file has 30 more [Core.System] entries in it then this one does.
You could probably add [SystemSettings] and everything below it into the default engine.ini file, just don't replace that file with this one.
