no video guide sorry :|   I can explain more detailed how to do:

      • Install ReShade and the preset you download from Files, the folder for reshade and the executable to point is in: ...\TOWSpacersChoice\Indiana\Binaries\Win64\ (can download all presets versions next chose inside the game wich You like to use, but the FINAL version is the best for visual and perfomance)
      • open Notepad and copypasta this two online-files: DeTintX.fx and DilationErosion.fx (save this 2 files with the name and extension inside the ReShade folder: ...\TOWSpacersChoice\Indiana\Binaries\Win64\reshade-shaders\Shaders)
      • now open the config file of the game, just copypasta this path in the navigation bar of Windows File Manager %LocalAppData%\Indiana\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini ...the File Manager open the notepad with the config file automatically, and from the Description page copypasta the code under Instructions from START to END the first long part (paste the code just at the bottom of the file, dont edit the rest of the file) then save the file

if You use the Old Version of the game... in case not play the Spacers Choice Edition, can find here the right path for reshade and config files: The Outer Worlds - PCGamingWiki PCGW - bugs, fixes, crashes, mods, guides and improvements for every PC game

if have very good PC (high-end) can also tweak (change) in the config file (3.) the Volumetric Fog ULTRA QUALITY (is perfect but is for sure 10-20fps loss, so... is your choice if made this change or not, the tweak in the 3. is already good and enought and for sure more than the Vanilla), can see this tweak under the rest of the main tweak, is separated and less lines, as not to get confused

done and can start the game... if need more help write here and I reply for more explanation, if not enjoy and have fun :)

Hey thanks for the hard work! But could you please explain properly how to install ReShade?
I'm googling tutorials but I've come to a part where I'm clueless as to what to choose. During the setup of ReShade there's a point where I'm asked "Select effects to install". I've no idea whether to install what's checked by default or if I'm supposed to install those gitHub codes you've shared "DeTintX.fx" or "DilationErosion.fx", or if that comes later.

I know it might be out of your way but I think you should take a couple of minutes to explain properly how to effectively install your mod.. since it uses third party soft that perhaps not all of us are familiar with.

      installation is simple and intuitive...

if during the installation you select the preset it does everything by itself (meaning all effects the preset need is installed by the installation app), and for the effects that you install manually (like DilationErosion.fx) I have already answered:

      ...\TOWSpacersChoice\Indiana\Binaries\Win64\reshade-shaders\Shaders

try this simple guide: Installation Guide – ReShade Manager

Does your ReShade preset replace the game's default lens flare, or have you disabled it (along with motion blur) because you don't like it?

is not the ReShade preset but the tweaks on Unreal Engine file...
You can re-enable it just change this line/value to 1 (in tweaked Engine.ini file):r.LensFlareQuality=0or just delete the whole line wich return the value to default

Dear mod author: this issue is solved, please check my other post here for a different issue that isn't solved yet.

    ---------

I have the Epic Games installation. I previously installed a different shader for this game by following the setup file for Reshade 5.9.2, then afterwards I did exactly the same thing to install your reshade with the installer for Reshade 6.1.1, pointing to your .ini file during the installation. It does say in game that Reshade is 6.1.1 so I hope the update process worked well.

I later added the two .fx files to "D:\Games\TOWSpacersChoice\reshade-shaders\Shaders", but they do not appear in the (big) list of shaders under your mod in the Reshade console within the game. Since they are not active, I'm guessing that's the reason your reshade barely looks any different from the previous reshade I was using (which itself has the same color scheme as the base game, only sharpened). Afterwards I also applied your Engine.ini tweaks, but that didn't solve the issue.

Notice there is no Detint or Dilation in the list. Why?

Found out the issue: Under the "Settings" tab within the Reshade overlay, the specified path for the shader files was "D:\Games\TOWSpacersChoice\Indiana\Binaries\Win64\reshade-shaders\Shaders", whereas there was also a "D:\Games\TOWSpacersChoice\reshade-shaders\Shaders" folder, where I put the files. I added this second folder and now the new effects show up.

Didn't think it was possible but pretty sure my stuttering is worse now following these instructions. The entire game runs fine for me except Murder on Eridanos area which is a stuttery mess.

wich GPU and how much VRAM have?

also, as you can see in the description, the anti-stuttering tweak is not mine ... and works for me :|

Good news! After doing a clean install of my drivers, and reinstalling the game for some reason the stutter is either non-existent to negligible.

      very good

many times you make a change together with other changes (before and after something) and you dont know what the problem is...
always better to have a list/list of changes

if you want to continue reading, otherwise don't worry, someone else will read the rest of the comment 8 because it's long)

      ---

furthermore, in the IT field there are so many useless settings and additions, I will cite some examples:

      • my CPU overheated often and too much... in the end it was just a performance setting in the BIOS (among all the other changes)
      • my M.2 SSD overheated at temperatures over 50° which is a risk for this type of component... in the end it was MS Edge in combination with MS Defender which scanned large files to see if they contained viruses
      • etcetera

but I still have to find why sometimes, only after starting and logging in MS W11 the GPU fails, and there is a black screen... I mitigated it with a hidden value in the registry, now its not like before (less appeniong), but it is not solved yet. this problem is with the drivers, and when the AMD software changed a couple of years ago (I know that nVIDIA has other similar problems: compatibility, settings, incorrect use of RAM and VRAM, etcetera)

all these problems are related to the addition of absurd, useless and wrong, or undocumented changes, and in any case knowing them requires too much time and study for any person, in the sense that everything should be more organised/optimised/standardised
this is why many times it is enough to reset everything to default and start again from scratch adding the changes carefully (even mods are not excluded from this reasoning, and it is like this in life too)

furthermore, certain changes shouldnt even exist (real and virtual stuff)...

Something must be wrong, because the reshade is barely doing anything. See comparison images: https://postimg.cc/gallery/7T0LhFg

    Any idea?

Edit: after uninstalling and reinstalling Reshade, and pointing to your .ini file during setup so that it "only installs the effects the preset needs", half of the presets that were installed weren't checkmarked (active) by default. I have now checkmarked them (except for DisplayDepth, which completely glitches the image, so I disabled it) and the images do look quite different: https://postimg.cc/gallery/mMs9X5P

It has a quite noticeable pink tinge though. Is this how your mod is supposed to look? Are the checkmarked mods above all correct?

I really dont know why :|

have downloaded the letest version of ReShade? as you can see from my screenshots the image is very different, also try all versions, or make your own preset and see if different. I really dont know...

I read your other comment, I repeat: happy you already managed to resolve it :)

    This is a GAMECHANGING "mod".
The improvement to the image is night and day. It's WAY WAY better than what it is shown on the example pictures.

However, I find that DilationErosion is, to my taste, not useful. It returns the image to a more blurry state. I like it best without it enabled.
Disabling "levels" is also a good idea if you find it too dark.

    Nevertheless, really nice!

Im glad you liked the mod 😊

DilationErorosion.fx is definitely optional, like any other effect...

you can also try my HQ Tweak to Volumetric Fog (for the Engine.ini file not ReShade, but it lowers the frame rate too much)

I developed the two tweaks in Mortal Shell (also Unreal Engine), both the normal one in the main tweak, and the HQ one written below... because in The Outer Worlds I found impossible to start the console, even using "UE4 Universal Unreal Unlocker" wich not work :|

What are the files for again? I followed your steps, however I don't think you mentioned where to install the files you uploaded into the game.
