There no reason to have 5 shaders with custom lightning and colours, when you can just use LUT, shame most people sharing presets on Nexus have no knownledge of this.
So I tend to make my own LUTs.. This is the first proper preset I've seen on Nexus.
This lut also does wonders for RAGE 2 , try it out, amazing difference, i even used it with Cyberpunk and DeusEX MKD. Gets rid off all that Gold filter and makes it so much better.
Anyway you can add Steam installation instructions? I've tried to match everything up with different save location, but pressing the "Home" Key doesn't bring anything up.
I downloaded ReShade,, selected The Outer Worlds and clicked "standard effects" as the effects package to download. But there is no LUT.fx to check here. All the other fx packages seem to be something different. Please help.
I also have the steam version. Would that affect anything?
Had this problem for a few minutes as well. The LUT.fx file is included in the standard shaders, so I think what the uploader meant was to check to make sure it is there.
Since the time I uploaded this preset reshade has changed their installation interface, previously it had prompt where you selected each shader individually looking like this. I have updated installation instructions to match newer versions of reshade.
Does indeed make colors look better (more neutral). Devs should add similar color preset as an in-game option.
PS: just tried it on a different map (Phineas's base). Makes colors worse.. Which convinces me the re-shade approach in fixing the game's color palette is fundamentally wrong. Someone needs to replace Post-processing shader or ask developers to add saturation options.
ReShade advocate here; This is not a ReShade approach but a LUT one. LUTs are created based on pre-selected scenes and automagically mashed up in order to provide a consistent colour palette. So when you move to another instance in a particular game, LUTs, naturally, doesn't match. For a workaround, I don't use LUTs. Instead, I use my own ReShade tweaks including a tonemapper for ambiance, colourmatrix for color correction and to get rid of the tint and vibrance to desaturate without a performance loss. Hence, natural colors. These will only take ten minutes of your time.
belenbelen, you do realize that some people (me included) never heard of tonemapping, nor colormatrix before. So this stuff will definitely not take ten minutes of my time, but more likely a couple of hours just to get these programs and understand them. And once i know how to use them, then i can spend even more on tweaking for the right preferred settings and going in and out of the game.
So personally, id rather just wait for some MVP to actually make a good mod for this.
And btw, since you seem to know what youre doing, why dont you make a "neutral" mod for these hellish pink and orange colors? Im sure it will be greatly appreciated!
Make sure you installed ReShade to <The Outer Worlds>\Indiana\Binaries\Win64\IndianaEpicGameStore-Win64-Shipping.exe and not <The Outer Worlds>\TheOuterWorlds.exe. You can try renaming dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll
