Version 1.1.0
Fixed a small "awaking" bug. Added intensity option.
Version 1.0.0
Initial release.
Introduction: When playing with the "Filmic" filter (which I absolutely recommend!) a light source is mandatory. At this, flares are really underestimated, not only as on of the best light sources in the game, but also as a distraction to certain predators. However, the handling could use some improvements and there are also a ton of bugs related to them. So i created this mod to adjust this!
Description: Bugfixes:
Energy consumption: In the base game flares had a total amount of energy, which only depleted when they were visible (holding in hand or within 60m distance to them). Therefore, many people still believe flares last forever, but they are only super buggy. -> Flares now have an ignition Time (savegame consistent). Based on the time they were lit, they will deplete after a set duration no matter where they are. As you would expect it: when you light a flare and put it in a locker or your pocket, it is still depleting!
Visual bugs: There were quite some visual bugs, e.g. when dropping a flare out of your inventory they added some fx as if the flare were lit, but not the actual light, even if it was not lit before!? Kinda hard to explain, just play around with flares, you will notice many visual bugs.
Flare cap fix: After reloading, used flares magically had there flare cap reappearing to the flare and just burning through the cap. This is now fixed, the cap will not reappear on used flares after reloading.
Flare despawning: No one actually cared about all of that, as they just destroy the flare, when it runs out. This will not happen anymore, you can now either leave a flare permanently somewhere, e.g. to mark a location, or you need to destroy it with the trash can.
Altogether flares now just work as you would expect them to!
Additions:
Two new slider were added to the mod menu together with a config file to alter the total duration of the flares in relation to ingame days and to set a flare intensity modifier. -> The default duration is set to 0.5, which corresponds to half a day. The default light intensity modifier is 1.
The ability to keep holding the flare during the ignition was added. When holding the "use-button" (right mouse button) during ignition, the player will not instantly throw the flare away but keep it in his hand.
Options: The options for this mod can be changed either ingame within the mod/options or with the help of the config.json file. The default config values are: { "TotalDuration": 0.5, "IntensityModifier": 1.0 }
Installation: This mod requires QModManager and SMLHelper (Modding Helper). Extract the Rm_FlareRepair archive into your QMods folder: "./QMods/Rm_FlareRepair /mod.json"
Compatibility: This mod is not compatible with any mods that change flares directly. Everything else should be fine.
