cool LUT effect but i did have to tone it down quite a bit on my monitor to make it not look overly bright. 0.400 chroma and luma amount setting
edit: would be nice if this reshade provided the shaders that are in use so we dont have to download every other shader as well, which takes a ton of time to load up every game start. it seems to only use the following shaders: DELC_Sharpen@qUINT_sharp.fx [email protected] PPFXBloom@PPFX_Bloom.fx [email protected]
Two things. 1. Why no comprehensive instructions? Given that so many people have asked... 2. Is it just me or does this preset drain as much as 75% of the colour from the game?
Instructions... The included instructions are too vague for some, as evidenced by the numerous requests. -- Install reshade, select your game, or if it isn't listed hit BROWSE and navigate to the game's folder. Select the main exe file - Subnautica.exe -- Select DX 10/11/12. -- Hit the UNCHECK button at the bottom twice, it will check everything. -- After reshade is finished, copy these 2 items from the zip file - reshade-shaders folder, Aeonic 2.0 (Extreme Optimization).ini. -- Place them both in the main game directory. -- There should already be a reshade-shaders folder and overwrite if it asks, tho it likely won't. -- When you launch the game look for the Reshade bar at the top; it disappears after a few seconds. So long as it's there and you don't have any obvious error msgs or issues you should be good. -- If you miss it, or think it didn't work, see the next step. -- Press HOME on your keyboard, this should bring up the Reshade menu.
Here is where I think most people are faltering:
--At the top of the Reshade box, just above the SEARCH bar, is a bar saying reshadepreset, with 2 arrows in front of it. -- Ignore the search bar, it is for the fx settings listed below it. -- Press the right arrow. -- For me it went to the Aeonic preset immediately, and the change should be immediately visible. -- If you hit one arrow twice it should land back on reshadepreset, assuming you only have the one installed. -- After that, you can look to the very bottom box and play with the preset values. -- It *should* make the changes in real time, so play with it a bit.
Colour... For anyone who thinks the preset drains the colour out of the game: -- Once you have the preset loaded look at the very bottom window. You should see Lut.fx, quint.sharp.fx and filmic sharpen.fx, all with settings underneath them. -- First thing, play with the slider for CHROMA, under Lut.fx. -- Full right will drain the colour, so slide it left till you get what you like. If all you do is play with the chroma value, then that should be enough.
Enjoy!
I like the preset, but man it makes the game look dull if you leave it as-is. Part of what makes the game so nice are the vibrant colours. Have you swam in tropical waters? Assuming you aren't looking at dead coral, it's vibrant as fck! I understand mellowing the yellowish tint, but the coral looks half dead with the settings as they are, and I've seen the real deal... this ain't it. Don't get me wrong, I like the changes you've made, just not the colour-drain.
Thanks for the hard work officialaeon, I hope my directness doesn't offend. Cheers
Hey, this comment was posted some time ago, but i still wanted to say thank you a lot. People like you who write detailed how-to guides are a life-saver for people with no experience about something.
I did everything. But how can I start the game now? If I close the reshader setup with pos1 the game does not load. You say we have to press a bottom to start. But there is no buttom to press?
so I install the reshade and make the setup tutorial. But how can I start the game now? If i close the reshader the game is not loading. Someone say we havte to push a bottom at the top. But there is no bottom
Hi! Your mod looks absolutely stunning, but I seem to have run into a problem during installation? When I attempt to bring it up in the ReShade menu, I get a notification saying 'Some textures failed to load: V_texLUT, V_texMultiLUF' and my game goes black. If I disable the LUT option in the menu I can see the game again, but there are no changes. Any help you could give me on this would be greatly appreciated!
I wouldn't worry about ReShade showing errors unless it is in regards to the effects being used. Make sure the LUT is being placed in ReShades texture directory (SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Subnautica\reshade-shaders\Textures) and refresh, this can be done while the game is running.
If it doesn't work, hit me up and we'll try some other stuff!
Where do I put your file? In the steamapps/common/Subnautica folder? Or in the reshade-shaders folder that ReShade created in the Subnautica folder? I have the same error but getting a green matrix screen when I activate the shaders.
Edit- nevermind! I figured it out from your instructions. The lut-optimized image file needs to be in the directory you specified, Subnautica\reshade-shaders\Textures. Then you have to reload ReShade and activate the LUT again.
Any way you could make the 2021 version available too? Just think it might be interesting to compare them since they're quickly and easily switchable in ReShade. Unless they utilize different versions of ReShade, or different shaders which might conflict between both versions.

I love the look of the bars, but I wish they didn't interfere with the HUD

It also works great for Below Zero!
I believe it should also be listed for that game here on Nexus.
Great work!
