Please note that progress may be slowed down for a bit.
I'm very sick and I don't get sufficient help since the country I live in has a long history of fascism and exempts certain kinds of disorders and health issues that they traditionally deemed as subhuman from public healthcare. So I can't really function very well during certain times of the year. Truth be told, most people with my condition end up dying on the streets, and that's by design. The fact that I can do anything at all in my condition is nothing short of a wonder.
Since this is sci-fi and all, here's a small post dedicated to space jokes:
-- What's the easiest way to spot a UFO? Take off your glasses and look up. --
-- Why was Darth Vader kicked out of his yoga class? People had difficulties relaxing during the breathing exercises. --
-- John Carpenter: Hey, David, have you seen the remote? David Cronenberg: No idea man. John Carpenter: Well it's not like it grew legs and walked out of here. David Cronenberg: Never say never John. --
-- Why are there so few borg immigrants? Assimilation problems. --
-- What did Spock say to Mussolini? Live long and-... actually nevermind. --
-- How can you tell if an alien is a hillbilly? They usually have a tractor beam. --
-- What did Luke say when the empire captured him? Unhand me! --
-- Why is Andrei Tarkovsky considered a sci-fi film maker? Because by the time you're done watching his films you'll see hovercars outside your window. --
-- I once met an alien from Venus. He told me about his great civilisation, where people navigated with mysterious elaborate canals, communicated with strange hand gestures and ate weird exotic foods shaped like flat circles...
Turns out he was actually from Venice. --
-- What did Luke Skywalker get his dad for father's day? A brand new tie-fighter. --
-- I met a scientist once who saw a flying saucer. And then a flying frying pan. And then a flying tea kettle. Needless to say, his wife was pretty mad at him. --
After the last update I noticed that on the planets there are no more structures generated but only natural places and caves. Could someone confirm or deny?
I talked to a friend of mine and he has the same problem, after the last update it seems that the mod only loads caves and geological or geophysical feature. I know you have health problems and I don't want to cause additional stress in any way, mine is just for informational purposes. If anyone else has the same problem reply below. Thanks :)
Bethesda RUINED all my hard labours with their ridiculous patches that nobody asked for. Gonna rebuild the whole mod now from scratch. It'll be even better than the last one, but expect some time before it's fixed.
Hello, thank you for your work, didnt tried your mod yet, but really want it, so i read this:
"Bethesda RUINED all my hard labours with their ridiculous patches that nobody asked for. Gonna rebuild the whole mod now from scratch. It'll be even better than the last one, but expect some time before it's fixed."
and wanna ask, I'm on pre-shattered space version of the game, is it save to install and play your mod without POI changes? Or BGS ruin smthg else too?
Man I just read some of your material on medium. Powerful things. Powerful mod for sure as it seems, eager to try it as soon as you'll think it's ready, whenever that will be :)
Absolutely no problem my friend. The important thing is that you are well, I will wait patiently for the next developments. Your mod is the only reason why I still play the game. Thanks for the reply and I wish you all the best.
Alright, what am I doing wrong / missing here, last time I checked I could extract files just fine but getting this error when I try to unpack downloaded mod.
https://imgur.com/a/uwXTwXz
Error 0x80004005 Unspecified error -.-
What is the difference between the full sized version and Lite version because I am not getting the same error when I try to unpack the Lite version. Never had with this mod, only now on the full size.
So i played the sandbox mode for a good 6 hours and heres a couple things , The food & drink system doesnt seem to work (survival style), My hud dissappered watch/radar (may not be your mod but it didnt happen before) If you go back to vectera you can continue the quest up until barrets suppossed to land but he never does.
Did the update remove my crosshair? If this is a change you made, is there a way i can get it back? I have sensory impairments that disrupt my vision, I can't play without my crosshair to know what i am looking at. (My crosshair is turned on in settings, so I know it's been removed by some mod I am using as I had it before updating mods just now.
I heard similar reports, and since I play with it turned off I didn't notice it myself.
Is it any specific weapon it's happening to? Personally I suspect it might have to do with the projectile data and how I added bullet physics/removed auto aim stuff, so knowing if it's all weapons or just some specific weapons is helpful to figure out the cause.
Ok, just did some testing for you. Weapons I've found have lost their crosshairs:
Never has crosshairs: Maelstroms Grendels AA-99 Plasma Burners Solstices
Inconsistently has them: Old Earth Assault Rifles * Old Earth Hunting Rifles *
The old earth rifles sometimes have the crosshairs, and sometimes don't. The same weapon will vary upon equipping it, and I've been unable to find a pattern to it in my quick testing just now.
This is very interesting. Admittedly you don't need a crosshair for the plasma burner. It's got a bit of a coverage on it, if it's on your screen, it's gonna get plasma on it. No centre required. But a lot of these do have custom projectile data so I guess I'll just check the projectile data and see if there's a way to get rid of the auto aim without affecting crosshairs. Worst case I'll just have to leave the auto aim in since I don't wanna be a dick to disabled people.
I personally never thought about it much but that's only because I'm built different. I'm like Doc Holiday or something.
I hadn't realized it wasn't all weapons until you asked because my current character got nice legendary drops of a maelstrom and solstice so I switch between the two. Then I tested everything I had in my inventory. It seems to be affecting rifles, for the most part. Though not all rifles..
I have chromesthesia. It's not uncommon for the shapes and colors to obscure the bulk of my vision, which makes knowing where to shoot troublesome. I set the crosshairs to a color I can see so I can tell when I am aiming at an enemy.
I understand, just didn't occur to me. I just kind of figured if people needed to zero their aim they could just use ironsights but obviously that doesn't account for colours. I will get to the bottom of this once I have fixed the CTD issue and done my grocery run.
Btw do you think an imagespace modifier might help in addition to the crosshair? I could make an optional mod that ups the contrast and makes the visuals sharper in general if you'd like so you can recognise things easier in general and not just when you're shooting at stuff.
EDIT:
Okay so I just looked it up to get some ideas on how to maybe make the game a bit more visually accessible and holy smokes. I didn't realise it was caused by sounds. I can see how that would be difficult to manage. After I've done the crosshair I could make a script that mutes colours and certain blurry effects specifically during combat if you'd like. I don't know if the chromesthesia sort of piggybacks on existing colours or just does its own thing regardless, but I'd love to hear any suggestions you have since it's actually kind of fun to make accessibility stuff from a designer point of view. Because it's almost like solving a puzzle using empathy? It's just wholesome all around.
To be honest, I have no idea. I have had my sensory issues for a very long time, and for most of that time I've had to play video games muted. In the past, couple of years or so, advances in audio technology (both hardware like my headphones and software like video games) have enabled me to play some games with sound on (though I do have to tweak it, all music is turned off, for example). UE5 is amazing in that regard.
So I am still learning what works, what does not, what helps, and so on. It is an amazing offer, and I thank you, but only put in that effort if it's something that intrigues you enough to poke at, because I have no idea if or how such a thing might impact me. It might help, it might do nothing, it might blind me. There's no way to tell, but if it's something you want to experiment with, I will happily test it for you.
Audio is the biggest factor, but visuals do play some part in my ability to play games. I have to turn off bloom entirely, for example. If a game won't let me disable bloom and screen shake, I simply can't play it.
Oh well then you're in luck. I can turn off all the bloom in the game with a simple keystroke, including stuff like emissive data which normal bloom settings don't always cover. (Assuming it works the same as in Fallout 4, but I think it does).
And I'm thinking: You know the low health sound thing where everything gets sort of muted? I'm wondering if I can't set that up to work on command during combat. Might not be 100%, but it could mitigate things by making sounds a bit softer.
I'm gonna let this marinate a bit but I believe I could do it with relative ease, and since it's entirely optional then if it doesn't work then it doesn't work. But I do need to learn more about how the new WWise sound system works anyways, and this seems as good a learning opportunity as any. So win-win tbh.
Actually I don't have any idea how the game plays with low health! Hahaha. I am a stealth assassin. With my settings and build, I pretty much die instantly or don't get hit at all.
That would be amazing if you could turn off all bloom and similar sfx.
I was able to alter a lot of blurry stuff, only thing I couldn't do was raytracing/HDR but I think your config can handle those. But I applied overrides to DOF, radial blur, motion blur, indirect lighting and a bunch of other stuff. It's a bit more subtle in my showcase than anticipated, but I do think it results in a clearer view in a lot of areas.
It'll also probably be more distinct when say, explosions go off since if all goes to plan you'll get the orange tint without any blur, etc.
So I hope this will at least make things bearable until I figure out what's up with the crosshairs.
EDIT:
Did a quick terrorism to see how it works in more intense situations and aside from frame resampling due to the screen shaking it seems like it clears up pretty much all explosion blur.
EDIT EDIT:
So uhh... in a moment of "No s#*! sherlock", I think I found the issue. Turns out you need to set the aim reticle to literally anything other than "None"
If someone specifically needs it and asks me, then yes, of course. But I generally avoid making standalone features while I'm working on a beta release of a mod.

And if so, are you copying between them?
My theory would be that your cache memory on drive 1 is smaller than drive 2. Sort of like trying to fill a kettle using a tea cup.

did you consider, releasing this tweaks as standalone "chromesthesia compatibility tweaks"?
