Sometimes commands we type in on this website get bugged because the Nexus thinks it's code. You'll have to somehow edit these lines, like put spaces in them, so they show up correctly. And then maybe just do something like mention to not copy and paste what's on the description page, and to instead download the main file to get the fully correct commands.
Just a heads up: Setting bDampenThirdPlayerControls to 0 does not remove the dampening completely. If you want true Skyrim like movement, you have to use these settings:
b Dampen First Player Cont rol s = 1 b Dampen Third Player Cont ro ls = 1 f AccelerationDampening Mult =0.0 f PlayerFirstAccelerationDampen Time =0.0 f PlayerFirstDecelerationDampen Time =0.0 f PlayerFirstPowerArmorAccelerationDampen Time =0.0 f PlayerFirstPowerArmorDecelerationDampen Time =0.0 f PlayerThirdAccelerationDampen Time =0.0 f PlayerThirdDecelerationDampen Time =0.0 f PlayerThirdPowerArmorAccelerationDampen Time =0.0 f PlayerThirdPowerArmorDecelerationDampen Time =0.0 f ThirdPersonAngularAcceleration Mult =0.0 f ThirdPersonTransitionExtraAngular Speed =0.0 f NonUniformVerticalInputTransition Duration =0.0 f Directional Deadzone =0.0
...Without the whitespaces. (thanks bad nexus text editor)
This results in the player not stopping anymore when you suddenly turn around and neither does this make the palyer start running slowly and accellerating to the run speed.
Sry I had forgotten about this comment. It's now obsolete. The Mod "Responsive Third Person Movement" does the above fixes in a less buggy way (my changes sometime work and sometime not - the mod always works) and completely restores Skyrim type movement.
I've noticed no aim assist with either k+m or controller. I'd like snap to target for the controller. It's so relaxing to just lean back and play with controller. It's not as if this game is particularly challenging or the combat particularly fun anyway, so I'd rather have a jolly good, relaxing time with it.
I am playing with a 360 controller and seeing zero aim assist myself in the vanilla game. I would love to see a mod that allows a toggle-able menu for it with intensity settings
I am not a disabled person, and the picture is too dark, but as far as I know, there is no way to set the brightness or the gamma setting, combined with this Laggy keyboard Inputs, I cannot make the video borderless fullscreen, so I hope someone can make this "stronger aim assists"
The dampen stuff doesn't actually seem to work. In 3rd person the character takes a run up to get to full speed and if you change direction, it's really unresponsive and heavy. I've been trying all kinds of ini tweaks to try and get rid of this 'wind up' but nothing seems to work. I just want a more arcadey control system where if I tap right, I immediately go right instead of doing a tiny shuffle and if I hold right I immediately move at full speed instead of this annoying 'wind up'..
Edit: I think the culprit is actually in the Animation section, I'll test some more tomorrow but I'm really tired and I don't know if I'm actually making a difference tweaking these options or if I'm just thinking I am.
Edit 2: Nah, I have no idea how to fix this, nothing seems to actually work.
@Sonic, I believe he means that regular "always running" is a little too fast and janky. The walking is too slow compared. Some players, wants something in between the two.
The capslock toggle makes you walk very slowly or go full running. If you play with controller you'll see there's at least a couple other movement speeds we can't get on keyboard. They look like a jog and are a lot more of a natural movement speed.
It's annoying to me because there was a Splinter Cell game took care of this perfectly. The game had a lot of different movement speeds since it would affect how much noise you made and part of your HUD showed your noise and environmental noise that could mask you. So you'd adjust your speed constantly depending on the situation. But how did they overcome this "massive" hurdle of PC players not having a joystick to control the speed they moved? They just bound movement speed to the scroll wheel. WASD is what made you move and you incremented/decremented your speed quickly and easily by scrolling the wheel. And I haven't seen a single game use it since, which is frustrating. Think it was Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. That's what we need. Then zoom in/out can be scroll wheel while holding some key down.
Is this is for space combat that has aim assist and not ground perhaps? there are websites that says ground combat doesn't have, in fact there are a lot people asking for the option. https://dotesports.com/starfield/news/does-starfield-have-aim-assist https://www.gamesradar.com/starfield-accessibility-verdict/
There is, I've seen some videos of people playing and theres a very noticable lock. I think it might depend on difficulty settings? Normal probably doesn't have much if any at all.
Haven't played the game yet. But this caught my attention because tbh i preffer it off... theres also websites and people that i've asked on reddit and all says that it doesn't or if it does is not very noticeable. heres other website that says it doesn't have assist: https://www.destructoid.com/should-you-use-a-controller-or-keyboard-for-starfield/ and there are people complaining on steam asking to disable it on space combat because there is very noticeable

code
block. It was made specifically for that.- Highlight the equal sign (=) and make it bold or italic
- Post
- Be amazed that it actually works
- Enjoy
example :
bDampenFirstPlayerControls=0 <-- normal
bDampenFirstPlayerControls=0 <-- bold
bDampenFirstPlayerControls=0 <-- italic
Setting bDampenThirdPlayerControls to 0 does not remove the dampening completely.
