It fixes the many issues with the Vanilla leveling experience in a much more complete way than this mod. I would recommend using that mod instead of LHL, but I'll keep LHL up for those who want an experience closer to Vanilla, or non-Steam users who don't want to mess with the fiddly non-CCR XPALO usage.
so reading through the description i decided to check my total exp and what my multiplier was. and when i ran "getgs fXPExpMult" i got 0.0115 instead of what you have listed to be the vanilla 0.0015. i have never messed that value before so idk how my curve is even more fucked up.
wonder if it has anything to do with what i and other people have seen with negative exp in the status page just straight up increasing your level curve from bad actions, this is complete speculation though.
Also a little feedback, since this mod is essentially just 3 console commands run from a bat file. It is much easier to just add those to the file i am already running rather than going though the hoops of CCR etc. The description makes installation seam a lot more complicated than it needs to be.
this mod is great, i like to keep things simple and this is it. for some reason, no idea why, it went retro on my game and kicked me from level 140 to level 175 and granted the 35 skill points as if it rebalanced all previous levels. its neat, ive got another 160 levels to go anyway. thank you. :-)
A question if I may. I've been levelling up just fine but all of a sudden I've stopped levelling when I hit Level 169. In fact the XP bar shows as constantly full but the last three missions I have completed have not affected it. When I look at my status screen is says I have approximately -773427 XP under the XP bar (that is a massive negative). However, I've never committed (or been caught for) a crime or been to prison. I'm wondering if it is something to do with the latest Update? I only have two XP mods, this one and Rewarding Activities and I have no clue what could have suddenly given me -773K XP.
UPDATE: I think I found the problem. I installed the CCR version of this mod and CCR has not been updated since the game was last updated so I had to disable CCR (and all mods that required it) in order to play the game but I forgot this one was CCR as well. I guess that means I can't use this mod now until CCR is updated (noone knows when that will be as it looks like the Mod Author has not been online for a while). I don't want to use XPALO (which I am sure is very good) because I use the Rewarding Activities mod I mentioned above.
Am I right in assuming that I can make a plugin file that does this same thing by just overriding the fXPExpMult setting to -0.000500? I checked the .toml file and the other two settings are at default, so I assume they don't need to be changed.
Thank you for putting this mod together. The information you provided makes it so easy to understand what's going on under-the-hood! Will check out your overhaul but I may just put together my own bat. 💖
So I installed the mod, and didn't realize it would retroactively update my level based on my total xp accumulated as soon as I gained more xp. Jumped from 140 to 175 with the new curve.
I had this weird thing happened to me today. I was level 115+ doing a mission (destroy a pirate ship), enter the area, destroy the ship and level up to 266. Then i had people to drive to mars, arrived at mars leveled up to 428 without even landing. This mod was the only Xp mod i had. I've turned if off and now it seems to work fine.
I was struggling to make your mod works for more than an hour only to realize I wasn't launching the game through SFSE. It's not like I haven't been a Bethesda games mods user for over ten years XD
Thanks for the mod, it works fine (when launching the game with the proper executable).
It's just unpacking the files so you can cherry-pick the ones you need, and you can delete the extracted folder once you've copied everything you need into your Starfield folder.
I just installed your new FOMOD version 1.1, but Mod Organizer shows a warning next to the installed mod saying "No valid game data". I believe it is because of the top data folder that is included, which shouldn't be there (for the CCR version).
I use Vortex personally so I haven't experienced this. I would guess it's due to the fact this is a lightweight mod that simply uses CCR (or non-CCR) to execute console commands -- hence there are no real game data files involved.
You can check and see if it's working in game with the command getgs fXPExpMult(should be a negative value if it's working)
I compared it with other CCR mods I have installed that was also packaged in FOMOD format. So I repacked this mod by removing the upper data folder and it has installed correctly. It is an easy fix you probably should apply to yours.
With either mod manager you do not need to have it create a Data folder. Thats why it does not install correctly with MO2. If you dont have the fomod create a data folder it should install correctly for both mod managers.
It looks like MO2 and Vortex install to different folders. The base folder for Vortex is the Starfield game folder. The base folder for MO2 is one level down, in the Data folder.
I'll see about updating the installer to try to deal with this soon.
