Description:

This mod replaces the skill patches textures, you'll probably be spending a lot of time there deciding which skills to pick, why not make the patches look a bit better.

At the moment I have finished 3 different sets to choose from, with an additional one being worked on:

  • Soft Sharpen (closest to Vanilla)
  • Sharpen (stronger than the one above)
  • Oil Paint (also has a bit of sharpen)
  • Neon (WIP)

Both 'sharpen' sets make the stitches pattern more noticeable.

The 'oil paint' set is a bit different but still on the same general design as the vanilla patches, looks pretty good in game in my opinion.

The 'neon' version is a work in progress, it will take me some time to finish it as I basically have to edit each texture by hand and make sure they look good in game, so it'll probably take me a few weeks/months to finish (follow the mod for updates if that's the one that interests you, or you can just use a different set for now and then replace it later when neon set is released).

You can check the screenshots but the differences are more noticeable in game.

If you are using any of the sets, you don't need this mod: Isolation Skill Patch Alpha Channel Fix (I've already included this fix in all the sets)

Installation:

By default Starfield uses the following path for textures and the message of the day image: 'Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures' instead of the classic way Bethesda has been doing it for years of using the game directory folder Data\Textures (which is now used for Photo Mode). You can either install textures manually on the default path, or change it so that the default path changes to the game directory Data\Textures path so that you can install textures with your mod manager.

- (Recommended) If you want to be able to install texture mods with your mod manager (changing the 'Texture' folder path)

If you want your textures to be installed in the game root folder instead, do the following:

1. Go to 'Documents\My Games\Starfield' folder and edit StarfieldCustom.ini (if you don't have it, create it) and add the following lines:

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

[General]
bEnableMessageOfTheDay=0

[Display]
sPhotoModeFolder=Photos

2. Delete the 'Data' folder in 'Documents\My Games\Starfield0' (backup your Photos from Photo Mode)

3. Install the mod with your mod manager.

4. That's it, from now on you can install textures modes using your mod manager. :)

- Manually: if you don't want to change the default 'Textures' folder path

If you haven't changed the default path of the 'Textures' mod, do the following:

Spoiler:
Show
1. You can't install this with a mod manager, as Bethesda has changed the folder where textures go.

2. Download the mod manually and copy the 'Data' folder to the following path 'Documents\My games\Starfield'

3. Go to 'Documents\My Games\Starfield' folder and edit StarfieldCustom.ini (if you don't have it, create it) and add the following lines:

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
