Thx for this little bat file , now i can fly everywhere with my gamepad
for gamepad users: Go to your keyboard keybind settings in game and bind an alternate key for jumping (LAlt recommended).Quit Gamepad on , go to steam , right click on starfield , manage , gamepad config Change config Apply Left stick click as alternative mod for buttons (use the gear button to the right) Then apply in command 1 a keyboard direction to each button (A=S , B=D , X=A, Y=W) Add a command 2 and apply LAlt to each button Launch starfield , load your game , open console and type HBT10 Work well with Unlimited Jetpack - Infinite Boostpack
Been messing with DS4Windows settings to get this to work on a PS4 controller and came up with this: https://imgur.com/a/1wlB46s Seems to do the job. The alternate thrust is ignored by an analog direction so you have to double bind the stick+jump with WASD as well as LAlt.
Any chance you could share your general DS4Windows settings with me in order to get wireless ps4 controller to work? I've been having a hell of a time with it.
Hey man, I saw your comment and went ahead and made a script for this. It will let you use the scroll wheel to adjust the boost percentage on the fly, lowest at 0%(default), highest at 15% in 1% increments. This current mod at 10x is only 7.65% so the script will really let you ZOOM
Find of the week, thanks! To get this to work on controller, you need to remap an unused button to keyboard key "W" and hold that down while boosting... AKA "W" has to be pressed simultaneously with your jump button ("Y" on Xbox controllers). This allows you to boost up with just "Y" and to boost forward with your "modified button+Y". I recommend reWASD if you need a program to do the remapping, cheers!
How do I get it working on a keyboard? Despite setting an alternate bind for jump like the instructions say, pressing that bind twice just makes me jump twice.
I actually found a way to get it working in all 4 directions so you can boost forward, backwards, left and right.
Just create a mode shift for the left joystick and set it as "directional pad" (dpad). Then set up, down, left and right to WASD. Go into the mode shift options and set the mode shift activation button to "Y". That's it :)
Mode shift idea is clever, I'll try that today. For the keyboard, it only worked for me if I held down W while I pressed L ALT, hence how I started the controller remap idea. For the guy using the left stick, I have a pro controller with extra toggles on the back that I used, but with reWASD you should be able to find a way to use a button for two actions with layers, etc.
@WinterElfeas yeah there's not a lot of options since long press are used a lot in UI as well, I suggested sprint because I am using a Steam Controller and sprint is on grip button, it is not a good choice on standard controller so yeah my bad lol. You can use double press but that will add even more delay to the single press function, if you don't mind that you can use double press A which has the least impact on combat.
Another solution I can think of is Chorded Press (A+B & B+A) since both are not used in mid air and everything else will be unaffected plus no delay, but that requires adding a action layer and bind it as Hold Action Layer to both Chorded Press buttons which is not easy if you are not familiar with steaminput. I can make one when I have time and share the config here if no one did.
What suggestions you guys have besides AB combo?

Hi there! any chance you could share the config that lets you boost in any direction? i tried your other one but it only goes forward (as described) but would like mobility in any direction.
how is it done on xbox lol they dont have another program to use... this is just shitty control mapping i guess... you unlock it with a skill but becasue the controller ran out of buttons its just not on xbox?
I've tied a few different pacts, set my 2nd key to LEFT ALT and when I jump (space) and press L ALT, it just boosts UPWARDS. No difference at all. I think it's a myth. if you STAND STILL then do this, you go UP no forward as everyone seems to suggest... even the video on this mod the player is moving forward BEFORE jumping / boosting...
If you are already, walking, jogging or sprinting THEN you boost, either using SPACE or L-ALT then you keep moving forward.
Note. I just play K&M no controller or any other input device.
Hmm how were you able to make it so the game can detect keyboard wasd and controller "y" inputs simultaneously? It seems that mixed input in the game isn't implemented, like for example I can't aim with a mouse and move with a controller left stick simultaneously @ACCESSDENIIED
Hey, I'm a bit confused about this. If I do as you've written then how does the actual horizontal boost work? If I set a mode shift for left joystick as a directional pad with WASD bound when holding the Y button, it also needs to be set to the horizontal boost button (alt for example) but I can't find any way to set it to multiple inputs? Right now the alt key is never used.
For some reason, i can't get the horizontal boost to work. I've looked at everything. Is it because of modding something? I'm on mouse and keyboard and bound it to left alt
The mod works, just not the horizontal stuff. This command seems to give me more horizontal. I also maxed out the boost pack thing and now it fully uses my fuel on boosting? I still have a lot of vertical movement with the command.
Alright, seems like it was just the boostpack i was using, reread the info again and it dawned on me.
I have the same, but doing it backwards works wonders> I got my alt key set to V as it feel more natural compared to LALT, could be it but then again why does it backward. EDIT1: Ok changed it to LALT, now it does work properly. I think I know why it is LALT that does it properly. LALT is used as Ship alternate control hold. I might try setting V as alt key for ship Alternate control hold as well as for jump, who knows EDIT2: That didn't affect it, LALT does... guess this will need more testing
I don't think this mod increases my starship's weapon ranges, but after installing a bunch of QoL mods to tweak with StarUI, better horizontal boost, and such, for some reason in NG+3 my ships have like a freaking increase in weapon range of like 20%!
It might be magazines but it might also be a hard to detect bug.

I had trouble with the double input on D-Pad, but I just used HiDHide and solved the problem!
And thanks again!

Player.SetAV BoostpackHorizontalPercentage X
Replace X with whatever you want but the mod is as follows;3x: 1.7
5x: 3.4
10x: 7.65
reset: 0
Edit:
don't go to high with it unless you are ready for a crash.
It's fun but a value like 20 will feel like a nuke went off behind you
