Such a thing is probably possible, but it might take an SFSE script written by someone more clever than me. It's outside the bounds of INI fiddling, anyways. And that's as far as I dare tread.
To all those more interested in expanding on the functionality of this mod, here is another great mod Scanner Reworked by @alexjh @Zaslohaelwe are getting close to full screen highlights :D
Edit: I FRIGGIN FOUND IT !!!!!! https://imgsli.com/MjA2MDA0 setini "fScanHighlightDotAngle:Interface" "0.2"
Woah, you got it! Does that cover all the behavior now?
Now that that's out, it would make more sense to publish a separate 'full screen scanner' mod. Credit's all yours if you want to make the upload, with both your line and the fResourceDecalRenderRadius tweaks. I'd be happier taking those lines out of this post and just linking to that instead for the sake of granularity.
@Zaslohael, just go ahead, I'm more of a user/tinkerer and not that interested in publishing any content. You can use the code as you will. besides it's just an ini edit
Would vortex be able to install this correctly? I'm currently just running around with the outpost out to have max range to see what resources there are makes the surveying skill kinda useless.
Vortex will only install the blobseer.txt file to the Starfield\ directory. You will then need to type "bat blobseer" in the console. (You will need to do this every time you start the game) Or add the following to your StarfieldCustom.ini under [General] if you want it to automatically run. sStartingConsoleCommand=bat blobseer
Just go to "My Documents\My Games\Starfield" Folder from windows explorer. You will find a StarfieldPrefs.ini and StarfieldCustom.ini among others. Open the StarfieldCustom.ini to edit and copy paste from the file downloaded from this mod. Example.
If I may ask, why are the fResourceDecalRenderRadiusFalloffPct and fResourceDecalRenderRadiusPct values recommended to be changed to 10 from 0.25 and 0.8 respectively. I assume that Pct stands for percent, so the vanilla values, 0.25 being 25%, and 0.8 standing for 80%. Doesn't this mean that 10 = 1000% ? Isn't 100% = 1 enough? Is there difference between 1 and 10?
The values I chose are arbitrary, untested, and probably gratuitous. Could be that these changes break your game in terrible and unforseen ways. I wouldn't know it, anyways. Good luck!
you can tweak those values to your liking. :) you do have a point, I will check and see.
Man, it would seem like there are a lot of "mods" coming out already but most are just overlapping each other doing the same djahdamn thing xD I am so happy that I have been using mods since Skyrim came out, otherwise, as a new user, I would be incredibly confused. https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/992 and before you "come up" with another idea https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/988 was also found. What are the moderators doing? are there any? or are you guys just able to post whatever you want? not one second of research before posting makes me annoyed.
lol - none of those mods do what this does! The other by default does because it increases the base range of the scanner itself, which a user might not actually want. If you have been modding bethesda games as long as you say you have; then you'd know people prefer small individual tweaks, over global modifiers :)
Well, I do apologize if I'm stepping on anyone's toes with this mod; I didn't see anyone mention this particular tweak, so I uploaded it myself.
I did not realize that "Increase Highlight Distance" also includes the changes from this post before I uploaded it, so I'll admit fault there. That said, I would still prefer to change just the resource patch view distance for help with placing outposts without changing scanner gameplay in any other way, so this tweak is helpful to me, and I hope it is helpful to others as well.
the mods you listed dont even do what this one aims to do. "not one second of research before posting makes me annoyed" - L comment bro, also L for thinking we need to "curate" video game mods
At author, dont appologize to this child. None of the mods he listed increases the range or fov of the RESOURCE VEINS. Just put that in caps so the little one gets it.
This mod is EXCACTLY what i wanted without the the changes of the other mods. Thank you very much @derflodefors!
Feel free to apply to nexusmods and become a hall monitor if you want. Or, you can do the sensible thing and just skip by the mod. ffs, being angry that some mods overlap... I'm morbidly curious to see your take on the Skyrim page
Hello ive tried all the posted ways,but for some reason when i try to run it through vortex script extender game crashes after momentary black screen anyone encountered this?
You said your values were "probably gratuitous". What are the vanilla values? I generally like to take a mods gratuitous values (if they are truly extraordinarily gratuitous!) and edit them somewhere closer to vanilla. :)
I set mine to 1000, and it seems like it goes plenty far, probably happy with that.

Because whatever i set as value, i can't get them visible any further than this.
They appear at around 400m
And always disappear at around 450m.
Is there any way you can toggle it or make them work only when you are outside?
It gets rly annoying when you scan inside a building, you keep getting the pop ups of veins outside.
1-> normal vein value
2-> extended vein value
something like this in the StarfieldCustom.ini
[Menu]
bUseConsoleHotkeys<>1
sConsoleINI<>Hotkeys\Hotkeys.ini
(replace <> with = i cant write it correctly in here )
create a hotkey file Starfield/Hotkeys/Hotkeys.ini
[Macro]
[Hotkeys]
F2=bat
F3=bat
