ROVER-HAUL is a lightweight resource consumption and storage management system for Vehicles in Starfield.

It has two basic features.
Each can be toggled on or off separately via the Gameplay Options.


RESOURCE DEPLETION

  • When driving a Vehicle, it will use Charge.
  • The rate at which Charge depletes varies according to Speed, Gravity, and Temperature.
  • If Charge is fully depleted, you will be unable to use your Vehicle until you recharge it.
  • You will need a Rover Battery item in your inventory to recharge.
  • A notification will appear at 50% and 25% warning you of low charge levels.
  • Each Vehicle has its own unique Charge Level.
  • Rover Batteries can be crafted, purchased, or looted.

- FUEL VS. ELECTRIC

  • Some Vehicles, like the Deimog, may use Fuel instead of Electricity.
  • These Vehicles will use unique Resource Items (Rover Fuel Cells) and display unique messages.
  • Any unrecognized Vehicles will always use Electricity.
  • Electric Vehicles lose some efficiency in very Cold temperatures.
  • Fueled vehicles lose some efficiency in very Hot temperatures.
  • Each Vehicle Type has a different Efficiency Curve. 
  • Fueled Vehicles are most efficient at maximum speed, Electric vehicles at around 50% speed.

STOWING

When leaving a Settlement or Outpost, your Vehicle must be Stowed for you to bring it along while exploring.
There are three ways to Stow a vehicle.

  • If you have a Garage Hab (See below for mod-added habs that are natively compatible), your current vehicle will appear here.
  • You can place a Basic Garage item by Decorating in your ship. These are large, so you must plan carefully to make space.
  • If you do not have any Garages in your ship, Roverhaul will attempt to store your Vehicle in your Cargo Hold.
  • If none of these methods are available, your Vehicle will remain behind until you visit a Spaceport again to pick it up.

- DEPLOYMENT

  • You may choose to Deploy or Leave your vehicle by interacting with it while it is in a Garage.
  • This option only takes effect while Exploring. 
  • The Vehicle will always be deployed automatically in Settlements or Outposts


Install with your mod manager.


Compatible with any mod not doing the same thing.
Compatible with All Vehicles Have Storage.

Natively compatible with all vehicles.
Extremely large vehicles may clip in Garages.
Use with caution for anything taller than a Deimog.

Please note that some Habs will work better than others for the Placeable Garages.
If you encounter issues, please try either using the Garage Floor Mat or placing the Garage in a larger Hab.

Please note that Cargo Hold space added by perks or cheat mods may not be recognized by Roverhaul.

There are three major types of compatibility with Roverhaul.

  • Vehicles that use Fuel instead of Battery - Just PM me and I'll add it to the script. Takes 30 seconds.
  • Ship Parts that add Non-Visual Vehicle Stowing - You can use the AV method from the article. This could be new Vehicle bays, or a Storage Container, etc.
  • Ship Habs with Garages - this is a bit more in-depth. Just PM me and I will explain how to set it up.
