Now that this new version/update is an .esm file...does that mean it's compatible with Plugins.txt Enabler?
EDIT: This mod's new update (.ESM version) is compatible with Plugins.txt Enabler! Woohoo! \o/ ----------------------------------------------------- For those using Plugins.txt Enabler : 1) Install the mod as you normally would with any .ESM/.ESP file (I'm assuming you already know, if you're using Plugins.txt Enabler) ; or just follow the install instructions on the description page. 2) Skip Step 5. where you do the "sTestFile1=..." in the .ini edit, and instead... 3) Open your Plugins.txt file and add the line: *FlyingJetpack.esm And you should be good to go! -----------------------------------------------------
But OMG...
I couldn't get this mod to work when I first tried the new (.ESM) update... followed the instructions to the T (which I was already familiar with anyways), and still my jetpack was depleting like vanilla. However, at first I tried installing via the Plugins.txt Enabler method... wasn't working... *scritching head*...then tried the normal method using "sTestFile1=..." ...still wasn't working, and on top of that, using that method also disabled all my Plugins.txt Enabler mods (lol) ...*starting to pull my hair out*... then I realized I forgot to delete the old files from the previous version (jetpack.txt and jetpackreset.txt)... eureka! Now it will work! ...still didn't work... *rolls face on keyboard and pulls hair out more*... then I went back and tried the Plugins.txt Enabler method again, one last try... also so that all my other mods using Plugins.txt Enabler would also work again... jetpack was still behaving as vanilla... UGH... then out of pure curiosity... I went into inventory, unequipped my jetpack and then re-equipped it... OMFG, MOD NOW WORKS (AGAIN) AS ADVERTISED!!!*facepalms* \o/ xD LMAO!!!
Side Note: When you uninstall the previous version (before the .ESM update), and before you remove all the old files, don't forget to also do the console command: bat jetpackreset , and then save your game!
Anyone else who is still struggling to get this to run despite the help here, try out adding the following line to your StarfieldCustom.ini :
[Boostpack] bUsePressAndHoldControls=1
That did it for me. The install description is a bite vague here and I assumed that I don't needed the ini.-File since I already had one. But it's actually this entry that matters.
Now it works perfectly fine, so thank you very much for this mod.
I got the infinite jetpack fuel, so that indicates this mod is working, but when I hold the key as shown in the tips, the jet pack doesn’t run continuously. I still have to keep pressing them to activate the jetpack like in vanilla. Also, so many people talking left and right about this mod, I am absolutely confuse as to what is going on here. Wish there something wrong with the Mantis jetpack when using this mod?
Also, one thing I noticed is that I used a random jetpack with Skip and compared it with Mantis Basic, but both of them work the same. In Vanilla, the Skip is much faster in flying horizontally than Mantis Basic, so what is wrong with this mod?
In the ini file, the following line will enable your boost pack to function by holding the buttons: [Boostpack] bUsePressAndHoldControls=1If you are using a mod manager, make sure that the mod manager is set to use the ini file.
As for the speed, I am looking into it. Starfield is giving me some weird result. I might have to redo the whole thing...
Are you talking about the StarfieldCustom.ini? I have no idea what you mean by Vortex "set to use the ini file". The only thing it did was installing the .esm in the directory data folder.
EDIT: Nvm, I found a comment that answered my question, but adding that line did not do anything.
No, because it’s common for any mod in this game to want us to download their custom ini or make one ourselves mainly for the Archive Invalidation only, so I assumed yours was the same thing. If yours did have more than just the Archive Invalidation, then you might wanna say that in the description.
Seems like Nexusmods mess up the code in my previous reply. So there is a line in my StarfieldCustom.ini under [Boostpack]. Copy that line and it should work.
Okay, it works now. Question, is the animation suppose to be the falling animation? My character does the flying posture at first launch, but then he does the falling animation as the flight kept going.
Just installed this mod for the first time (the 'mix' file) via MO2. The increased boost and no fuel consumption work as advertised, but I cannot for the life of me get hover or forward flight to work. Tried using all 4 types of pack (basic, balanced, skip, power) and none of them will hover or fly horizontally. What gives? Am I doing something wrong?
From my experience, achieving a flat/stationary hover effect, requires good timing of when to hit your boost again after the initial boost.
Usually, I first boost upwards, then I allow myself to drop down a ways (release boost), and then hit/hold boost again. The amount/distance I allow myself to drop before hitting boost again also varies, depending on what your boost pack version is on (ie. Basic, Balanced, etc), and the planet's amount of gravity also effects your timing, as well as your boost pack version. Some planet's gravity may not allow you to do a flat/stationary hover at all, or at the least is very hard to achieve/maintain.
I myself usually use Basic for all my boost packs, as I've noticed this usually gives the widest/easiest range of achieving a flat/stationary hover, across various different gravity levels.
Once you manage to get a flat/stationary hover, then you can use your movement keys (ie, WASD, or whatever you use) to move along a horizontal plane in any direction (as well as performing combat while hovering), while you maintain a hold on your boost.
this mod does not seem to be working for me I am only getting a single boost no horizontal flight and I have unequipped my pack re-equipped it and still not working please help.
I am using plugins.txt and MO2 and according to the MO2 instructions I have to take everything out StarfieldCustom.ini or plugins are not going to work.
Okay so I had some sTest entries that were still in there but now I have a different issue. If I use the alt key I fly horizontal for a few seconds and then I fly backwards insanely fast and then I clip through stuff and the game crashes. Not sure why that is happening.
Well I think I figured it out I had to remove the .esm files and then install the old text version of the mod and disable all the plugins and then run the game and then run the bat jetpackreset. Saved the game and exited then I re-installed the 1200 version and, re-enabled the plugins, and then started the game. It looks like tis all working now.
ESM is in place along with all my others, Custom.ini is as it should b. Pack removed and requipped, Left Alt bound. I use MO2 and a controller. I'm having difficulty getting this to work. Mostly because the vertical lift of the chosen 1200 is about as strong as a weak fart. The heroine jets off the ground 6 feet (2 meters), only to sink back down. No matter what jetpack used. Forward thrust is fine but there's nowhere to go after an altitude of 6 feet. I can achieve some height by repeatedly jabbing the A on the controller, but the sinking is inevitable even moving forwards.
I'll try the mixed option. And nope - still the same. By the way, pressing W using this mod makes my character hurtle backwards!
Hello, your issue looks complicated to me. Just a few quick questions: does your boostpack keep boosting while you are holding the jump button?
Skip boost pack and Balanced boost pack have less vertical lift, so they are supposed to sink down if you are using them on a high-gravity planet. Are you saying your basic boost pack and power boost pack can't lift up as well?
Any boostpack requires multiple controller button presses to climb. I did try different packs and certainly a higher-G planet makes the jump extremely small (can do a jump onto a small rock and that's it!). Trying various packs and pack types made little difference.
I have tried changing the load order as well, but no success.
Hi, I've been using your mod from (almost) the day you published it. But now when I use it, I'm flung away really, really fast, causing my game to crash. The only thing I want to do is that a) there's no drain and that's it basically. I managed to tweak it that it only did that but... No idea what changed since the last time I played it.
Hello, I just downloaded Starfield back to my PC and re-tested the mod. It still works as expected on my end. Have you tried loading an older save before the boostpack was broken?

I tested:
Flying Jetpack - 600 v2.1
Flying Jetpack - 900 v2.1
Flying Jetpack - 600 (Less Cost) v2.1
Flying Jetpack - 900 (Less Cost) v2.1
And all functionalities are working. So it's probably safe to assume the other versions also work (i.e. 1200, 1500, etc).
(Note: Don't forget to unequip and re-equip your Pack after installing this!)
Once again, THANK YOU GMCustomSauces, for this hella essential-must-have-mod!! Still appreciating ya!! \o/ ♥ ♥ ♥
