      I think the chests don't work anymore. what do I need to do to get it to work again? I don't get any error message.

      What exactly isn't working anymore? Are the chests not respawning, not opening, or are they empty?"

      By default, chests respawn every 7 days. You need to modify the Respawn Interval option to change the number of days between each respawn. However, there seems to be a bug: the chests are not being saved and therefore are not replaced upon loading the save. I will fix this.
      In the meantime, you can force the chests to respawn. To do this, load your save, open the GMCM menu, disable the mod, save the settings, re-enable the mod, and save the settings again.

      My unofficial version has been updated! I tried saving the chests to replace them upon loading the save, but it caused other hard-to-fix issues. Instead, I modified the mod to respawn the chests when a save is loaded. Just in case, I also added the console commands oc_remove, oc_spawn, and oc_respawn to remove, spawn, or respawn the chests.

    I only really have two critiques with this mod:
    First, WAY TOO MUCH FURNITURE. Especially since, afaik at least, there's no good mod that lets  you sell furniture, meaning at least half the chests I find just end up being giant disappointments when I get my 30th chair. Obviously I'm going to be adjusting my config, but the default is still a small issue IMO. Looking at the config now, it seems like it's all under 'BigCraftable' which is... Oof.
    Second, the chests can spawn in completely unreachable areas. This isn't the hugest deal, thankfully I've got a mod that lets me get to them, but still, if that could be fixed it'd be good, but IDK how the generation works, so it might require a recode or something lol.
    Otherwise, it's pretty fun stumbling upon a chest in the overworld and ending up with something interesting. I enjoy getting seeds, and machines are pretty great too, though I'm likely going to have to turn those drops off if I wanna actually get something that isn't furniture. Blerg.

      There's a "Sell Anything" mod that I use for that.

    New suggestion:
    I use the Lookup Anything mod, and can see the amount of chests (plus 2, for some reason) i have, and i like using it to know whether or not i got all of them.
    So if there would be a progression option, i'd be able to see whether i got all or not.
    Now i have to turn off locations, if i cannot reach them yet on newer characters.

    If such progression option would be available, i could see how many i can get, instead of seeing the number counting ones in the Woods, Witch Swamp etc. while they're not open yet.

    Can anyone help me...? If I want more chests to appear on the map, should I turn the density value up or down? I don't know why, now there are no chests on the map at all...

      You want to turn the density up to increase the number of chests.

      Note that, because of how the chest generation algorithm is implemented, small areas are only ever going to chests if you set the density REALLY high, to the point that big areas will be totally littered with them. If you want "a lot" of chests to appear without it being crazy I'd use the following settings:

        "EnableMod": true,
        "AllowIndoorSpawns": true,
        "OnlyAllowLocations": "",
        "DisallowLocations": "",
        "RoundNumberOfChestsUp": false,
        "RespawnInterval": 7,
        "ChestDensity": 0.0015,

      You should get a handful of chests spawning once a week in the Forest, Mountain, Beach, and Town Square.

    I've been using this mod for a pretty long time now, and love it, but i have a few suggestions to make it (in my opinion) even better.

    1. Some way of seeing them easier, like a glow that can be seen through all layers. Even the forest layers.
    2. More categorized in the config, so that we can sort the items out a bit more, and make them more or less common.

    And if we'd have a list of all items, and be able to ban them in the config.
    Some stuff i really wanna make either more rare or disable, but it's a very general based config.

    If too much work, i'd understand, it's just a suggestion, and some "unreleased" iteems are obtainable, and i heard that they might crash the game when used as items, so maybe turning that off by default would also be nice.

    All the items in CJB Item Spawner list but NOT on the official wiki, may crash the game, i heard.
    I'd prefer them to be made functional, but until (and if) that happens, it'd be smarter to have a config option... although i just keep em in a chest, for fun.

    Thanks for your great mods, though! :)

      I have another suggestion: I'd like money to never be the only thing from both Overworld Chests and Fishing Chests.
      I don't like just getting money from em, so maybe if the amount of money would be reduced, but has a cheap item in it, like parsnip, radish or copper ore.

      I just like opening chests, and be surprised, not an "aww, no items" moment. Even just 1 clay is better XD
      So maybe some "always at least 1 item" option could be nice, imo.

      Yeah, i reply it to my own comment, cuz double posting makes a mess.

      I also would like to add a number, so each area has the same amount of chests, cuz big farms having more is fun, but i also play smaller ones, and then get only a few, and seems kinda sad to me.

      Maybe also good for those who still wanna balance their games, especially when playing competitive... which i don't, but they often like balance more.

      I'm still having fun, though :)

    Hello! I wanted to let you know, your procedure for randomly populating chests could be improved:

    Currently, you pre-determine the maximum number of chests in each location and then randomly add chests to free tiles up to the maximum in that location. That means that small locations will always have zero chests for any reasonable Chest Density (or will always have 1 chest if you round up, which means you get way more chests than the player probably wants).

    You could instead scan over every free tile in each location, roll a random number from 0.0 to 1.0, and if that number is less than ChestDensity, add a chest to that tile. That way you don't bias chests towards big locations.

    This does mean that sometimes you will end up generating no chests during a "Spawn Day", and sometimes you might generate more than expected, but on average you will make the same number.

    Hi. I noticed on multiplayer with a girl that these boxes are visible for me, and for her they were not.The NPCs actually smashed the crates and left items on the ground.
    I agree with one person above. You have to change the occurrence
      "RespawnInterval": 7,
      "ChestDensity": 0.00003,

    edit: On 0.0001 is 5-10 chest on map.
    on 0.0002 is 0-1 on map.
    if i writing 0.00005 is error

    This is a great mod, I'm having a blast with it. I have a little problem with it though, my local co-op partner can't see the chests at all. Do you know if there's a fix for that?

      We are having this issue as well. We thought we had solved the problem the last time we played (a few months ago), but now we're having the issue again.

      spawned chests through this mod are only visible to the host in a multiplayer session. seems like a large portion of the mod author's mods unfortunately lack MP support. would be a game-changer if this and underground secrets had it.

      e: also bugs out while using Expanded Storage, causing chests to persist in the game world after having been opened and claimed of treasure.
