About this mod

Made for the SDV Discord's fun Spirit's Eve 2020 event, this mod gives four spooky (but cute) costumes to each 3 dog types in the game.

Requirements
Permissions and credits

This mod gives your dog pet four costumes to choose from, which you can configure for each 3 dog types!
The four costumes are based on the four teams in the SDV Discord's Spirit's Eve 2020 fall event (Pumpkin Pals, Wacky Wizards, Spooky Skeletons, and Ghastly Ghouls), so the three dog types get:
  • A gourdy pumpkin costume (complete with a cute hat!)
  • A fancy wizard costume (staff not included, the wizard wasn't keen on giving dogs tools of magic)
  • A bone-chilling skeleton costume (don't worry its just magic dye straight from the wizard M. Rasmodius himself!)
  • A petrifying ghost costume (totally not just a sheet with holes in it)

How to Install:
  • Install the latest version of SMAPI.
  • Install the latest version of Content Patcher.
  • Extract the mod into your Stardew Valley/Mods
    folder.
  • Generate the config.json file in the mod folder by running the game, then closing it.
  • Open the newly generated config.json on a program like Notepad and change the options to what costume you would like for each dog. Check the costumes folder for reference pictures and the names for each costume. The "False" setting removes the costumes and reverts them back to their vanilla textures.
  • Run the game through SMAPI to play with your spooky costumed dog!

Changing the Dog's Costume:
The config.json contains three options that refer to the 3 vanilla dog textures in the game:

DogBlonde:

DogBrown:

DogLBrown:

Once you open the config.json file on Notepad, you'll see these lines of text:

{
"DogBlonde": "PumpkinDogBlonde",
"DogBrown": "PumpkinDogBrown",
"DogLBrown": "PumpkinDogLBrown"
}

By default, each dogs are set to the pumpkin costume (Pumpkin Pals represent!). To change the costume, simply change the name next to the dog option into the name of costume that you want. The names can be seen in the reference images in the Costumes folder in the mod. Setting the option to "False" will remove the costume and revert the dogs to their non-spooky vanilla textures.

For example, if you chose the second dog option in the game (DogBrown) and you wanted to give your dog a wizard costume (again staff not included), open your config.json file on Notepad and change the "PumpkinDogBrown" option next to "DogBrown" into "WizardDogBrown".

To uninstall, delete the mod from your Stardew Valley/Mods folder.

Now you can enjoy the Spirit's Eve festivities with your spooky dog pal! Have fun!
