Out of curiosity, does this mod also change Abigail's 14 heart event where she saves you from a monster? That might be a good next/optional step for this mod, really cool idea!!!

Thank you for this, I'm not super disturbed by blood and gore but something about the way duggy's explode in a shower of blood with a sickening splat paired with the cartoony effects freaked me out just a little bit lol. Endorsed!

Edit: I got an error in SMAPI when I started Summer. [Pacifist Valley] Mod crashed when editing asset 'Data/TV/TipChannel', which may cause errors in-game. Error details:

Also, I'm not sure how to continue an 'overrun by monsters' floor, I love bomb all the monsters but the step ladder never appears.

Fyi, loved slime on your farm permanently stay and won't leave the farm.
I'm afraid if this is gonna lag my farm once I decided to clear my farm out of slimes.
Also blocking some areas making it impossible to put a building or a decoration in the area where the loved slime is standing.

I am a conscientious objector and war tax resister (See http://nwtrcc.org). So I absolutely love and deeply credit that aedenthorn made this mod happen! I had to try this mod! So it's difficult to find the appropriate way to approach some critical comments that I feel very deeply about.

In my world view of pacifism, the grand strategy is to heal scary enemies into smiling friends by exercising radical and courageous love. Significantly, the world is not safe (easy mode) because I am a pacifist. Rather, I am called to make the world safe by love (difficult mode) because I am a pacifist.

I feel a deep confusion when I play this mod because rather than being what I understand to be "Pacifist Valley", it sort of waffles between "Pacifist Valley" and "Safe Valley" or "Easy Valley". As exemplified by the Help Wanted gallery image 9/9 advising of crabs cuddling, the mod partly turns the monsters into fluffies, though they are indeed expressed as problematic, and they do bother etc the farmer to some extent.

How hard would it be to have a setting for the player to choose whether or not the mod runs in "Safe Mode"?

    A. Narratively, Safe Mode could be explained as a game in which the monsters have all been befriended, there is no threat from them, the Health Bar always stays at 100%, mines can be explored unchallenged, and interacting with them for loot/gifts is optional. Help Wanted etc could describe monsters as "creatures with gifts to give".

    B. Unsafe mode would be more like native Stardew Valley, where mining and monsters are just as dangerous as ever, and you can lose health and die unless you quickly hug monsters just as in Safe Mode. (This would "feel" to me more true to my understanding of the world as a senior pacifist who came into pacifism at the age of 35).

I think it would be wonderful if you could do that. And if you could teach me how you did this mod, maybe I could even fork or help create the option. If not, I still credit you deeply for what you have created.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but it sounds like part of this is already a part of the mod. You can edit the config file to toggle whether unloved monsters damage the player or not. I could make the monsters not swarm the player by default as an option though, that isn't implemented yet.

    Amazing and important mod!

    1. I have a hard time telling when I am finished winning over the monsters. Slimes make the usual "squish" sound. But, say, Coal Sprites, just keep acting the same. And since Coal Sprites swarm, the hearts tend to turn into a confusing mess. I am wondering whether my "hugging" could/should have a different "speech bubble" than the "won monster" icon. (It seems like they are both the same heart.)
    a) Maybe the "won monster" icon could be a dove or a rainbow or something, and the "hugging/cuddling" could be the heart you already have?
    b) Maybe the "won monster" icon could start with one color heart for a second (iridium?) and then "fade" to a rainbow or dove or something?

    2. For swarming monsters, it's especially hard to tell whether any are coming to love me vs. to kill me (assuming that's what they want to do before I heal them). Maybe all unhealed/unwon monsters could have a bleeding/wounded/hurting/angry icon over them?

The coal sprites shouldn't swarm, that's something I haven't taken care of yet, sorry (you can turn on monster swarming in the config, for other monsters)

OK. Thanks. Sounds like you've realized the swarming makes the mechanic kind of hard to see and figure out.

I love how this mod make the game more peaceful than it already is.
Just a slight inconvenience: after you cuddle a duggy, they keep digging up a new hole in the mine blocking your tilling spot. Well you can avoid this by standing in an already dug up spot and continue tilling, but like I said it's just a slight inconvenience.
    I'll endorse this mod anyway.

This is the mod I've been looking for! I always wanted to be able to avoid the combat in SV altogether while still keeping the exploration aspect of the mines. Now I can cuddle all the monsters. Thank you!

This actually sounds super cute! Definitely going to try it, especially since it reminds me of Undertale. ^_^
