I just wanted to ask if this mod and working fire place mod would be updated for 1.6. I really adore these mods and would be sad if they aren't usable anymore. I understand if you don't though.
I'm having trouble telling which pest is on what crop. When I move around the pest follow the camera to the point where it can just leave the crops all together.
@Vlgor Thanks heaps for pointing that out. Thought I had to go back to the vanilla zoom for a minute, when all I had to do was match the two zoom levels. Yay. :)
Is there a fix for this? I'm playing on mobile so I'm constantly changing zoom level via pinch zoom and I'm not sure how to tell if it matches the UI since there is no slider in game settings.
I was foolish enough to install this mod with Impossible Farm, meaning that I have only 28 plantable spots, and now everything is dying while I wait for my compost and it took me a season to get to level 1 farming. This is a whole new level of fun to play, but also impossible.
BTW, would you be interested in a compost bin skin if I were to make one?
I've been playing with this mod for my latest playthrough and I have to say I love love love it! I like that there's more variation with what happens to my crops, and that levelling up seeds means I have more reason to bulk-grow and dump my extra crops in the seed maker rather than ignoring them (which also gives me more mixed seeds for use with Better Mixed Seeds!) Thank you so much for making this.
I have some notes for new users since there were some mechanics that weren't completely clear to me when I started using it (please correct me if I'm wrong on any of it): ?- This DOES work fine with 1.5 ?- As far as I can tell, the only thing that increases your crop traits is putting them through the seed maker X amount of time. Growing them in compost doesn't seem to do anything to their level. When a plant levels up, you'll get a notification. ?- If you have a bunch of crop mods installed, I would lower the "processed_crops_for_cultivation_level" since bulk-growing 200 different plant species is a lot harder than bulk-growing vanilla crops ?- The more stuff you put into a composting bin, the more compost you'll get out of it. 10 is just the minimum, you can put in more than 10 "parts" of compost. ?- Always water your seeds after planting, because seeds that go unwatered will shrivel and die.
Edit: Oh I have a suggestion if you find the time and want to work on this again--instead of returning the "Tried to return trait with full traits" error, it would be nice to get a notification when X crop has perfect traits. And/or, implement an option for keypressing when hovering over the item in inventory to see the traits for ease-of-access, rather than having to tap it on a seed maker.
It's an error in the console whenever I process seeds that are already at max level--my latest log doesn't have it, but I'll send you a log next time I play :-)
Here's my log! It happens every nth time I process a crop with max/near-max traits (n being the value of processed_crops_for_cultivation_level) I've only reached max level with modded crops, if that helps at all.
@6480 Thanks for the info, it did answer a few questions I had. Still, I can't decide whether to play with this installed or not. The moving pest bug is really annoying and I'd hate to go back to playing so zoomed in just to prevent it. Also, are you saying compost basically does nothing? The description says it's for raising trait levels, but you're saying it doesn't seem to do that? Unless I'm misunderstanding it, it sound like that part of the mod is broken in 1.5?
I reaaally hope Jahangmar returns to fix both these things. The mod sounds epic when it works as intended. I understand to people who aren't real life gardeners it may not appeal much or mean anything, but since I do grow a few veggies irl I guess that's why it appeals to me a lot. SDV has always felt a bit too easy for my liking in terms of the crops.
Played with this mod in my hardish playthrough -- "Ooo look at all the pretty blue butterflies hanging around my crops, they're so pretty (I have a mod to change how these look)" --- discovered these were actually crop flies and they infested my entire spring yield! DIE DIE DIE ALL YOU BUGS!
perhaps you could utilize Tearoppai's dragonflies? as a base from their mod instead of butterflies? or recolor eemie's bees to black to fit better? both mods seem to be OK with this use judging by their permissions.
Your write up says it is not multiplayer compatible. Can you tell me what about it won't work right? I would think that almost everything in this mod wouldn't matter if multiplayer or not unlike some other mods.
I haven't tested it for multiplayer games. If multiple players have it installed, it might apply effects for each player (i.e. multiple times), compost containers are not accessible for multiple players, seed traits are only saved for one player, and so on. Since I didn't test it, something worse might happen. What is missing right now is network communication between different instances of the mod. I was asked by some people to make it multiplayer compatible and it is on my todo list.

Which are missing a "repellent" item for them

10/10 would do again.
