the build mode is specifically for placement and removal for items like floor tiles/big craftables. I don't think it works for decoration items that are used inside of the farm House.
Okay... now that I have tested it I must say this is the most intuitive, simple and elegant mod of it's kind to use. I used smart building previously, but then switched to your mod to try it out after watching your preview video.
Definitely recommending your mod. Placing flooring or fences on your farm without this mod is a pain.
I believe I had already added it to the config file to remap both the build mode(F1) as well as toggling between placement mode and removal mode (Space). You can update this in the config file or through generic mod config menu (if you have that mod installed). If it is missing or not working let me know, I've done some testing but may have missed a few cases
Ok Ill take a look at later tonight. If you do save manually in config it should work. I'll look into the hotkey change through the UI, Will look into a solution to be added with the next release.
Edit*
I was not able to repeat the bug, modifications made through the UI save successfully on both save and save close functions. I would recommend either deleting the entire mod folder and redownloading, or deleting the config.json file and have the mod regenerate this for you.
I guess you were right all long. I found hotkey save changes was working properly when updating using the config file, but when using generic mod config menu it saved the hotkey in a different format. I've reworked my code in v1.0.6 so that it uses the same data type as the generic mod config menu so that saving in either config file or from generic mod menu now saves hotkeys properly.
Thank you so much for your mod, it is so much fun and really helps to decorate the farm! I am having a blast with it! However, I accidentally placed a log of wood on the ground and now it is stuck and can't be broken, moved, or removed with your mode? I was hoping you could help me? I took a screenshot.. published it on my... wall or something? I couldn't link it in this post? Here is the link where the picture should be?
Thanks for reporting the bug, and glad the tool is useful. I'll look into a solution soon. For now I believe a bomb would be able to remove the placed items.
Edit** Bug Resolved in v 1.0.4 with some additional fixes.
Looks like a very great mod for decoration or other purposes. I'll try it for a while but also wondering how compatible your mod will react to https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/20943 Let's Move It mod which is essential to everything I'm doing since that mod practically allows moving anything (even NPCs, trees, whatever comes to your mind) anywhere like this other mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21233 Build Anything Anywhere (unofficial update) does similar but for building mode. Hoping your mod will complement what those two mods are offering different from each other.
Reading the Mod descriptions in the Mod you had provided it Looks like your mod allows moving objects as well as trees rocks weeds etc and the other one allows moving buildings to place anywhere. I plan to stick with just removal and adding tiles and big craftables for base designing. I had some possible enhancements but will remove and just stick to fixing some placement bugs to ensure complimentary.
In terms of compatibility I didn't use any harmony patching to replace any in game code and added my own custom built "Build mode" to mimic Robin's build mode and so I am anticipating that it should be compatible.
EDIT**** To assist in further compliments, I should add a check to not go into my build mode if the game is already in Robin's build mode. Also, I could look into adding a third mode to my build mode so that users can toggle between Placement Mode, Removal Mode and View Mode, where in view mode I will disable my mouse area selection function and allow other mods to leverage this view mode to perform their actions like for example using the Let's move it function to move objects around what do you think?
Thanks for replying and your plan (3 modes) sounds like a good plan.
Trying your mod looks good so far but with one thing; I use 80% UI Scale + 90% Zoom Level and this causes your mod's placement and remove modes mouse cursor to drift into inaccurate positions. For example, green rectangle is right 1 block above cursor at the Left edge of the screen (assuming this is your intended locations), when I move cursor to the Right, green rectangle falls behind cursor by 4 blocks. Also green rectangle move blocks are shown different from game's original blocks which you can check by https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1691 Data Layers (ranges for everything).
Here's what it looks like where green rectangle turned to red due to unusable area along with cursor at the right edge to show difference and data layers turned on to show block size differences. Your mod still works (thanks for that) but it gets difficult to adjust oneself due to increasing difference in distance visually so if you have the time, please try my UI settings (80% UI + 90% Zoom) or similar to see the effect for yourself. Thanks again for your time.
Thanks for letting me know. I had added the link that youtube studio provides but that one failed through the embed. It should be working now with the link on the youtube site. https://youtu.be/wYG4Wc3e7EQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYG4Wc3e7EQ
