    Is this mod still maintained?
    Yep. The original author is no longer active, but I'm keeping it compatible with game/SMAPI updates and fixing critical issues. It's a "keeping the lights on" priority for other improvements though.

    Is this compatible with custom maps and NPCs?
    Yes, but each mod that adds custom maps/NPCs need to provide the assets for their content. For mod authors, see the author guide for more info.

    How do I get help / report an issue?
    Post a comment below! Please upload your SMAPI log and add a link to your message (even if you don't see any errors). This has useful info like what versions you have, which mods are installed, what happened in the game, etc.

    Since I maintain many mods for other mod authors, I can't always answer every question here (often I'll be busy handling SMAPI or my own mods). If you can answer someone else's question, that's always appreciated!

    Common issues:

    • Duplicate villagers on the world map: UI Info Suite and Foxyfficiency include a similar feature, so they'll add duplicate NPCs. Both mods provide an option to disable their NPC tracking (see their mod pages for more info).
    • Farmhands in multiplayer see the vanilla map: There's a limitation in SMAPI's content API which makes it difficult for recolors or expansion mods to correctly update the map for farmhands in multiplayer. There's a change in the upcoming SMAPI 4.0.0 to address that.

    I use Ridgeside Village, Stardew Valley Expanded and Boarding House mods in the game. I put the following folders from somewhere in the NPC Map Location -> Maps folder. Are these still needed?
    In the SMAPI console I always see that it is using the '_Default' directory, or something is wrongly configured.

      Nope, you can delete those. Those mods should dynamically edit the map textures through NPC Map Locations' API now.

    When running the game with ridgeside mods and NPC Map Locations, the smapi console will always alert me to unknown locations when entering the save, how can this situation be solved? The code for the hint is as follows:
    ?[NPC Map Locations] Unknown locations: Custom_ArkOrchard, Custom_ES_TNPCWaitingRoomWarp, Custom_ESClearingHouse, Custom_ESMineEntrance, Custom_ESSmugglerDen, Custom_GrampletonCoast, Custom_GrampletonSuburbs, Custom_GrampletonSuburbsTrainStation, Custom_GrandpasShedOutside, Custom_HenryWarp, Custom_Highlands, Custom_Ridgeside_EmberNight, Custom_Ridgeside_EzekielPic, Custom_Ridgeside_KiarraPick, Custom_Ridgeside_LogCabinEventHall_Ballroom, Custom_Ridgeside_LogCabinEventHall_NightParty, Custom_Ridgeside_LogCabinEventHall_WeddingReception, Custom_Ridgeside_LogCabinEventHall_WeddingReception_Temp, Custom_Ridgeside_PrincessVilleDate, Custom_Ridgeside_Ridge, Custom_Ridgeside_Ridge_KennethDate_OFF, Custom_Ridgeside_Ridge_KennethDate_ON, Custom_Ridgeside_RidgeFalls, Custom_Ridgeside_RidgeForest, Custom_Ridgeside_RidgePond, Custom_Ridgeside_RidgesideVillage, Custom_Ridgeside_RidgesideVillage_Event, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVCableCar, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVCliff, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVCliff_AlissaDate, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVCliffNight, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVCorineDate, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVEvacuationCenter, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVGathering, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVSewers, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVSpiritRealm, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVTheHike, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVTheRide, Custom_Ridgeside_RSVWestCliff, Custom_Ridgeside_SummitFarm, Custom_Ridgeside_WeddingReceptionPic

      Hi! Those are locations with no map vectors registered by the mods that added them. It won't cause any issues, except that NPCs/players in those locations won't appear in the right place on the map. I'll hide the message from the SMAPI console for players though, since it's only really relevant to mod authors.

      Hi! You can turn off the option in UI Info Suite to avoid both mods adding NPCs to the map.

      Can you please show me how to do it? In the Mod Config Menu (cog icon) I have only Experience Bar and Multiplayer Time. There is an option in MP Time which says UI Info Suite with a tick box. What does it do?

      I don't use UI Info Suite myself, but based on the mod page you should have a hammer tab in the game menu with its options:

    Is there any way to lock the mini map into place? I usually have it in the bottom left right by the health and stamina but one mis click drags it off of the screen, making me unable to grab it for some reason.

    If not, would there ever be any plan to maybe make a mini map lock a possibility?

    Edit: I'm an idiot that doesn't know his lefts and rights, apparently. I have it in the bottom right, not left :)

      Not yet, but I just added that option in the upcoming NPC Map Locations 2.9.0. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Interestingly, this actually works on any multiplayer server I use even when I am not the host. Not sure why, but hey I'm not complaining.

      It should work fine if the host has it installed too. (That's needed because only the host can see all locations, so the host's NPC Map Locations will sync the map markers to the farmhands' NPC Map Locations.)

      Hi! Can you...

      1. try it again;
      2. post a screenshot of the map;
      3. enter npc_map_locations_summary directly into the SMAPI console window;
      4. then upload your SMAPI log (see instructions on that page) and post a link here?

    Can anyone see Jessie on the map? I can't see her at all even when I toggled her on the setting.

    Is there any way to get rid of the mini map in the top left corner? I accidentally turned it on at one point and it's in the way, but I can't seem to find the hotkey to turn it off

      You can also open the world map in the game menu, press Tab to show the NPC Map Locations options, and uncheck the minimap option.

    How can i turn off the npc map locations? ikik that's what the mod is for but i use it more to load the sdve map, it just won't load without npc map locations, but yea, i don't really want to see the npcs on the map, so is it possible to turn them off? and if so, how?

      You can't turn off NPC map locations, since that's really the mod's only feature. Stardew Valley Expanded should be able to replace the map image fine when this mod isn't installed; if it's not working, I suggest reporting that on that mod's page.
