About this mod

Overview

This mod intends to provide a fairly minimalist implementation of a food poisoning mechanic in order to encourage and empower cooking and cooked consumables. The intent is, ultimately, conducive to a higher difficulty of play, especially in the early game. Current (v1.1.0) functionality includes:

  • application of the "Nauseated" debuff upon consumption of a raw food item (excluding fruit, cooked food items and artisan goods). This debuff functions essentially identical as vanilla, preventing players from consuming further food for the duration of its uptime (by default, two real-time minutes).

  • differentiation between "Harmful" and conventional raw food items. By default, food items that have Edibility values below 0 (that is, food items that damage health and/or stamina) are considered by Food Poisoning as Harmful. Harmful food items have a higher base chance of causing the Nauseated debuff (configurable) and may extend its duration (configurable).

The Nauseated debuff applied by Food Poisoning can also be cured by the consumption of ginger.

Configuration

This mod has integrated GMCM support. Options include:

  • the base food poisoning chance, evaluated whenever a raw food item is consumed,

  • the base duration of the Nauseated debuff, in seconds,

  • the Edibility threshold below which a food item is considered Harmful,

  • the added chance for food poisoning when consuming Harmful food items,

  • and the added duration, in seconds, for food poisoning when consuming Harmful food items.
