About this mod

A helper mod which allows you to define your farm style based on the farm type, you're currently playing on. You can have a totally different experience and atmosphere on every map. Also works with Custom Maps via CP and CFL.

Do you play on different farms and get bored of having the same farm style on every map? Do you like to build a witchy farm on the wilderness map and a cool western styled farm on the mountain map without reinstalling half your mods? Then this is what you need!
"Choose your farm style" comes with a folder system for every farm type, where your can place in the buildings, animals, pets, trees... whatever you like to use only on this single farm type. You can even add custom farm types on your own, if you want!

Farm Buildings
(houses, painting masks for houses, coop, barn and everything else you can build on your farm, also mailbox and shipping bin)
Craftables
(chests, fences, floorings, scarecrows)
Animals
(farm animals and all pets. Note: cats and dogs DO change, but sadly the change is not visible in the character creation menu, only in the game.)
Trees
(not the static ones, the trees you can chop up for wood)

There is probably more possible in the future, so if you have ideas and wishes, what could also fit in this mod, leave us a nice comment. :)

Then you can easily do so. You don't need to fill up the folders completely. It works in this order:
1. If all folders are empty, whatever is already installed outside this mod will be used. A recolor or just vanilla graphics.
2. If you put anything in your "Standard" folder, this will be used on the standard farm AND on any other farms as well, as long as there is nothing in the other folders.
3. If you put anything in a specific farm type folder, this only will show up on this specific farm map.

Example: You want to use Gwens Medieval Buildings on every farm type except the hilltop farm, there you want to use Elles Buildings. You put Gwens Buildings in the "Standard" folder and Elles Buildings in the "Hilltop" Folder. Easy!

This is not difficult at all, but you have to copy around in the mod folders and not all content mods give you the material you need in the right format. In this case you are well advised if you have a image editing software at hand. Take a look at the "Reference" folder - this is how it has to look in every folder as well! The images need to have the same sizing and the same name, otherwise it will not show up in your game!

You can bind them in, too! If you have Custom CP Maps or Custom Farm Loader Maps installed, you have to create a new folder subsystem in the same place, where the other farm type folders are. Say, you want to have unique buildings on this custom "Very Nice Farm".

For CP Maps

You need to create a new folder next to the other farm map folders. The name of the folder must be the ID of the custom map in the content.json of the map's folder, e.g.:

The ID is "VeryNiceFarm" so your folder should be named like that and it will work.

So for our example in the Content Patcher version the folder path has to look like this: VeryNiceFarm/[our folder system].

For CFL Maps

For CFL maps it's just a little more complex to get the folder structure right, as you need two folders. The first folder, which you need to create next to the other farm type folders, must be named after the mod's UniqueID, which can be found in the manifest.json of the map:

After you created this folder, you go into it and create the next folder, which should be named after the map's name as stated in the clf_map.json:

So for the Very Nice Farm in the Custom Farm Loader version the folder path has to look like this: VeryNiceFarmAuthor.VeryNiceFarm.CFL/Very Nice Farm/[our folder system].

  • Download and install the latest version of SMAPI
  • Download and install the latest version of Content Patcher
  • Download the latest version of this mod and unzip it, then copy the '[CP] Choose Your Farm Style' folder into your Stardew Valley/Mods directory. Start filling up the farm folders with whatever you like to use on your farm! Use the vanilla pics from the reference folder for making sure you have the right sizes and names.
