The hats don't sit right on my character when she's turned to the right, but especially when she's turned to the left. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this something you can fix?
Sorry so late a reply-- I had a long break due to a personal tragedy. I have corrected this so that the left and right hat placements match. They are intended to sit higher on the head than the vanilla witch hat, but only by a pixel. The current version, 2.0.0, has addressed this.

Sorry the reply so very late, but my permissions as stated are very generous! I've already given blanket permissions for such modifications and conversions so long as I'm credited, and the derivative work isn't behind a paywall. No need to ask! Have at it and enjoy!
I hadn't thought to do that, but now that you've mentioned it, I may have to go ahead and learn how. I am creepingly slow at working on things in June/July, but I think figuring that out might be what my focus lands on after I return from the woods n a few weeks. Thank you for putting the idea in my head!
