Stardew Valley

When creating this mod, it was suggested by some that the recipes were too hard, and others that the recipes were too easy. So I decided to add difficulty options. Much to my regret. :)

This is a quick write-up on how to apply the various difficulty and art options.

Overview/Technical Information

You can skip this section if you want to just figure out how to get the art/difficulty working.

A quick background on the structure of the folders. The downloads consist of three parts - the producer config file, the art pack, and the difficulty pack.

Producer Config File
This controls what the machines actually do, and how they process their inputs into outputs. This is the part of the mod that's dependent on PFM. In theory, I could do difficulty options with this as well, but I feel that it'd be weird to have these casks age faster than stock casks.

Art Pack
This contains the art for the casks, set up in a folder structure that corresponds to part of the folder structure of the config pack. This is one of two pieces that depend on JSON Assets - more correctly, it's HALF of the JA bundle.

Difficulty Pack
This is the other half of the JA bundle - it contains the files that control how much the casks cost, what materials they use, and who you can buy the casks and/or recipes from.

These three pieces will come together into two folders - the [JA] folder with the difficulty + art, and the [PFM] Expanded Casks folder.

How do I art and/or difficult?

  • Download your chosen packs. Note that you need one of each - the Producer Config (under the Updates section,) the Difficulty Pack (under the Optional Files section,) and the Art Pack (under the Miscellaneous section.)
  • Remove any existing versions of Expanded Casks. Unless you're updating an existing install that was exactly the same, this is likely to just break things. Trust me on this one.
  • Unzip the files OUTSIDE of your StardewValley\Mods folder. This is important, if only for your own sanity. :)
  • Go to the [JA] Expanded Casks Art folder, and move the files to the BigCraftables folder in the [JA] Expanded Casks folder:

  • Overwrite the items currently in the folder.

  • (optional) Remove the [JA] Expanded Casks Art folder - you don't need it anymore.
  • Move the items from the temporary folder you're in. over to your StardewValley\Mods folder:

  • Play the game and enjoy your new casks!
