If you have snow floating you have modified meshes pulling it (meshes pull the texture) say like NSUTR (3D) snow and what ever patches you have installed with that mod or a mod like it.
And of cause make sure you have the prerequisites installed.
Would it be possible to tell me how to edit the swap ini to remove the non snowy bridge swap further out from Windhelm? I love the bridge by Windhelm but because I have snowy roads at the second bridge location the swap there looks a bit out of place for my game.
Hey Skeever, the 2nd bridge added further from Windhelm doesn't have snowy cobblestones for some reason even though I selected SMIM snowy and the bridge closer to the city does have snowy cobbles as it should. Any ideas why that may be?
Im using combo like Majestic Mountains, Majestic Landscapes, Blended Roads plus SoS patches for them and without this mod it is snowy. Should be snowy IMO.
I wanted to make the non-snowy bridge snowy as my landscape mods make the surrounding roads snowy. I tried to change the settings in SSEEdit to match the snow bridge and managed to get the snowy effect. However there is a flag I cannot seem to add that says "Considered snow." Is there a way I can add that to make the bridges match exactly?
The Lux Via bridges have terrible snow for the roads, and generally just design preferences. What's wrong with wanting the rest of Lux Via, just not these two particular bridges?
I can confirm though, that both bridges will load and stack onto each other... it kind of looks cool in places, and fixes the snow on the one bridge, but it is a clipping hell too.
Close enough to smim that it doesn't matter. btw, smim fixed a bunch of bugs in vanilla bridges that aren't fixed in blended roads. so smim should overwrite it anyways. smim also has fewer polygon count and better topology for the cobbles (although this will be a drop in a bucket since all your other cobbles are blended roads). Works fine in game. so it doesn't matter.
Blended Roads comes with a SMIM patch. Are you saying we should still let SMIM overwrite Blended Roads?
EDIT: I just compared and the meshes from SMIM contained a /lot/ more polygons that Blended Roads. The Solitude bridge mesh from Blended Roads has ~17k verts while SMIM's version of the mesh has 188k. Looks like Simplicity of Snow also uses the SMIM meshes for cobbles which are much higher poly than the Blended Roads meshes.
My bad, smim topology is about as bad as blended road's regular road topology. Either way. SMIM fixes other bugs on the bridges that blended roads doesn't, and the cobbles basically look the same
Soon, there will be a better cobble roads mod with proper topology. Until then. Use the SMIM version for the other fixes.
If performance is a concern, pick the vanilla option, which already looks as good as roads need to.
I don't have time to make a separate blended roads patch for marginal difference. Mod is open perms, so anyone is free to make this if they want to.
Blended Roads is clearly more optimized than SMIM (as much as 3x fewer polygons) and in my opinion looks better. That is with the 3D cobbles. As I also said, Blended Roads provides a SMIM patch to combine their cobbles with SMIM's fixes to other parts of the meshes. Not suggesting that you need to make a Blended Roads patch, just refuting the claim that SMIM has fewer polygons, which is demonstrably not true.
Do you know of a better cobbled roads mod in the works? I'm interested in that (not facetiously).
just out of curiosity hows the performance with this i used windhelm bridge revived and got some lag spikes here and there wondered if this was any different(p.s i have a good pc)
Shouldn't be any with this pulls vanilla and will use Windhelm Fence 3D and BOS, (perquisite) windhelm bridge revived adds a lot more info to the cell (and guards) so your performance should be the same with this but you can select when you install Windhelm Fence 3D 1K to 4K textures.
alr will check these out as well thanks again even with a good pc staying lightweight is key for me however its alr to have a mix of 2k/4k stuff just wont go overboard tho
I appreciate the new bridge but pray tell...why eagle statues? Surely Nords of old (and present-day Stormcloaks) wouldn't want to construct the statues that are revered by the elves that were hunted to extinction?
Load up vanilla Skyrim. Walk to the Windhelm front gate. Look up. Eagles! :) There's also the Skyforge eagle in Whiterun which predates both men and elves but the Nords love it just fine.
We fell for one of the classic blunders! The most famous is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia,' but only slightly less well known is this: 'Never go in against Skyrim modders when lore is on the line!'
...at least I'm pretty sure that's the quote. Definitely.

Just without all the extra stuff
Also I think, at least if looked at the mesh with nifskope, that there are some normal issues?:

Ok, that's why I asked, wasn't sure about it, thanks for clarifying.

bridge01.nif: Blended Roads = 22k, SMIM + Simplicity of Snow (respectively) = ~55k
bridgelong01: Blended Roads = 18k, SMIM + Simplicity of Snow = ~67k
bridgeshort01.nif: Blended Roads = 7k, SMIM + Simplicity of Snow = ~28k

And of cause there are a other mods that edit that area that are lighter on the system.
thanks again

If you mean these, I don't think those are eagles.
