I believe I fixed the issues documented in this and the below stickied comments but I will leave them up just in case. Version 1.0.1 should "just work". Download the required mods, let my mod overwrite, and enjoy.
Think I figured it out. Thanks to Zireaels1251's comment Here > https://imgur.com/a/skcEsik < is a screenshot with "Skyland Blacksmith Texture Overhaul" installed which closely matches the picture linked in InsaneLegion's post, this is the vanilla mesh with Skyland's textures. The second picture shows how I fixed it > https://imgur.com/88aNDis
How to fix:
1. Rename "LeatherRack01" to "LeatherRack02" under textures\clutter\common\ in Skyland Blacksmith Texture Overhaul (or whichever texture replacer you use that is causing the issue, I could only replicate it using Skyland's)
2. Change texture path in NifSkope (you have to extract the mesh from Skyrim .bsa) to textures\clutter\common\leatherack02.dds and textures\clutter\common\leatherack02_n.dds respectively
Because Immersive Tanning Rack Replacer reuses vanilla textures, any retextures of those items in your modlist will affect it. This is generally a good thing, since it allows the work of other authors, like Skyrim Blacksmith Texture Overhaul and Peltapalooza or HD Reworked Pelts, to make the model look even better. But not all retextures are guaranteed to look nice, obviously.
A common source of unsightly texture issues with this model may be from Pfuscher's 202X collection (or its other iterations). 202X contains a retexture for the tanning hide even though it also replaces the rack mesh with one that no longer uses this texture (Renthal's Tanning Rack), and this texture is very different from the vanilla one (two, small, stretched hides with surrounding transparency instead of the single large hide in vanilla).
How To Fix:
Option 1: Delete the problem texture (.dds) and its normal and/or parallax maps (_n.dds, _p.dds). File paths listed below.
Option 2: Install another mod replacing the problem texture and let it win all conflicts. I hyperlinked some at the top of this post.
To look deeper into exactly where the problem texture is for you, the files affecting this model are: textures\architecture\farmhouse\pelt02.dds textures\architecture\farmhouse\pelt03.dds textures\clutter\common\leatherrack01.dds(<-- I believe this is the problem in Skyrim 202X, as shown in this image).
Disclaimer: I did not test exactly which mods cause which texture issues. I don't have this problem in my game to start with, and I'm not getting paid to troubleshoot everyone on Nexus's load order. So take this information as somewhat insightful guesswork, and use it as a basis for figuring things out for yourself.
Regarding mesh issues with "Immersive Tanning Rack Replacer" model
So far I have checked on the PC I made the mod on, my laptop, and a friends pc all with different modlists and even a different version of skyrim and all work as intended. If its only the textures looking weird it could be from a retexture mod, if its the mesh like in the first pic I have no clue because I copied the mesh and made no changes and like I said it works in the 3 instances I've tested it. In all cases we use MO2 and versions of Skyrim between 1.6.353-1.6.640. I was wondering if it was a vortex thing because the way it handles files but I cant see why that would be the case but admittedly have zero experience with it.
I can't replicate the issue and trust me I've tried. If someone figures it out please post the solution and I will sticky the comment
Edit:
Stickied Zireaels1251's comment in case it helps anyone. When looking at both "Skyrim 202X - Other" and "Renthal's Tanning Rack" they appear to use the exact same mesh and exact same textures (unless I'm missing something) but just in case I am removing 202X as a optional requirement because it feel needlessly complicated.
My LO is: Skyrim 202X Renthal's Tanning Rack tanningrack001 real skin Various Immersive tanning racks
As far as which mesh to hide this is what I have in my MO2: https://imgur.com/a/kwT96wk
Can't remember if I told you, so I'll say it again... I love all your Various Immersive mods. It makes it fun to go and be a lookie-lou as my granny used to say. LOL
I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "pre-deleted". Unless I'm mistaken that is the vanilla mesh, this mod just adds new meshes and then randomizes them with BOS
I was looking at this mod instead of the correct one. It was just a goofy way of asking if something had changed but I just misunderstood the directions.
You're right, it should say "download and endorse" because the author allowed me to use their model for this mod. You don't need it installed. I will correct the description, thank you for pointing that out!
Hm..Immersive Tanning Rack Replacer only contains the one mesh and its copied over to my mod. It uses vanilla textures. I dont have it installed and it seems to work fine, I even double checked just now. Looks like you have a pelt retexture mod changing the pelt...I dont see how that would make a difference though...
TBH I don't know what is going on in your photo, can you open it up in nifskope and see what's going on?
If all else fails try simply re-downloading the mod

Is there something unclear about the instructions? Maybe all of us with the issue are doing something wrong. Do we just delete the tanningrackmarker nif from the required mods? Or all the meshes from the required mods? I suspect I messed something up somewhere.
Just to clarify, the problem doesn't seem to be with the unique textures or meshes for Renthal's tanning racks included in 202X or standalone mods. The problem is that 202X also includes a replacer for the vanilla tanning rack texture. The vanilla texture is no longer used or referenced by renthal's new rack meshes (which are included in 202X), but it is still referenced by Immersive Tanning Rack Replacer. So if 202X's retexture for the vanilla rack hide isn't overwritten by another mod, it shows up in game if any meshes from another mod references that vanilla texture. I noted exactly which texture that is in the end of my post.
Whether or not this problematic texture is even installed also depends on which of the many versions of 202X you are using and what options you selected in their FOMODs. That is to say, not everyone who installs textures from 202X will have this problem.
I was wondering because I use Skyrim 202X and couldn't replicate the issue. I could only replicate the mesh issue(actually a texture issue as we now know)with Skyland Blacksmith Texture Overhaul installed. The vanilla mesh and Immersive Tanning Rack Replacer's mesh are very similar and I think that is where the confusion is. I think folks looked at the vanilla mesh that had the wrong texture and thought it was supposed to be Immersive Tanning Rack Replacer. I think I figured out a fix and stickied it
I can confirm that Skyland Blacksmith Texture Overhaul doesn't result in such an issue since I use it and it's only vanilla and smim texture replacers. The only mesh it contains is for the smelter. If you are having problems with the tanning rack mesh's texture path, then I'd think it'd be impossible for the cause to be with Skyland since it doesn't modify it in any way and works with the vanilla mesh.
Your image in the latest sticky also looks very similar to 202X's texture, just like InsaneLegion's, and there's nothing in Skyland's files that looks anything like it. It looks and sounds more like you overwrote Skyland's texture with 202X's and then made a custom texture path for Skyland's texture to circumvent the issue.
Skyland:
Skyrim 202X (Downscale version, "core" option in the FOMOD):
Then I'd think something is overwriting your tanning rack mesh to cause an issue, since Skyland doesn't contain a tanning rack mesh, just the vanilla texture. I can only confirm that in my load order with Skyland winning overwrites, this issue is not present, and that 202X is the only mod that has this double-skin tanning rack texture. There's no issue in a pure vanilla game with only Skyland's blacksmith textures installed either. Not every version of 202X has the texture. I pulled it from wartorm's optimized version, from the "core" option of the FOMOD.
Skyrim will be Skyrim, I guess, haha. It's messing with us.
It's worth mentioning/correcting myself, the unnecessary leatherrack01 texture with the 2 hides is included not only in (some versions of) 202X but also Renthal's standalone mod even though, as has been said, Renthal's model doesn't use it. So the textures from the standalone Renthal rack could also cause the problem. It's the same texture as pictured above from wartom's Downscaled 202X. People can check if deleting it helps them.
Ya I Just Fixed It On Mine. For Renthals's tanning rack In Textures/Clutter/Commom Delete leatherrack01.dds And leatherrack01_n.dds And The Normal Tanning Racks Won't Have Two Hides Floating Next To Each Other Any More.

under which mod do i need to perform this step?
I made this mod before I knew better. I will update it soon and make that step unnecessary
EDIT: No longer necessary in 1.0.1
Probably should download the required mods then ;)The mod doesn't come with textures. Your instructions state to delete the mesh file, and that's literally the entire mod.
