About this mod
Moonborn is a vanilla+ Lycanthropy overhaul, inspired by Skyrim's prequels. It aims to be lore-friendly and balanced. It overhauls the perk tree, adds forced transformations, and an alternate way to gain Lycanthropy.
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
- Expanded perk tree from 8 perks to 17 perks.
- Powerful beast form that doesn't completely rely on knocking down enemies to oblivion.
- Howl menu if SKSE is installed. (SKSE is not required to use Moonborn)
- Optional forced transformation during full moon.
- Alternate way to gain Lycanthropy.
Beast Form Abilities
- Receive 100% more damage from silver weapons.
- 50% Weakness to Poison.
- 20% Resist Normal Weapons.
- 10%-50% Magic Resistance based on your level.
- Health and Stamina buffs are now percentage-based, so that Health increases by 50% and Stamina by 100% at all levels.
- Able to feed on humanoid and animal corpses to restore 40-120 points of Health over 4 seconds and extend the duration of Beast Form.
- Backhand and moving power attacks no longer knockback targets unless a certain perk is acquired but will stagger targets.
- Leaping attacks now do as half as much damage and no longer knockdown targets.
- New dual power attack that can be performed by dual attacking while moving (not sprinting). Dual attacking while standing will backhand attack instead.
- Howls now have a cooldown.
- Default Howl changed to Call of the Wild, which knocks down nearby enemies. (30 second cooldown)
- Howl of the Pack now summons leveled wolves, with levels of 1-12, for 60 seconds. (75 second cooldown)
- Howl of Terror is now leveled, with magnitude of 10-50. Howl of Terror lasts for 10 seconds. (60 second cooldown)
- Scent of Blood now shows whether the targets are not in combat, searching, or actively in combat by default, and now lasts for 20 seconds. (45 second cooldown)
- If you have SKSE, you can press the favorite button to access your available howls, plus the Revert Form power and a toggleable Night Eye power.
- If you don't have SKSE and want to revert to the default Howl, Call of the Wild (which doesn't have a Totem of Hircine), activate a Totem whose Howl you already have equipped.
Beast Form Perks
- Animal Vigor (2): 50%/100% extra Health and Stamina in Beast Form.
- Feral Rage (2): Attacks increase your attack damage by 10%/20% and critical strike chance by 2%/4% for 6 seconds. This effect stacks up to 5 times.
- Rabies: Critical strikes inflict a spreading disease that does 200% poison damage over 10 seconds.
- Bestial Strength: Backhand and moving power attacks knock back targets. This effect can occur once every 15 seconds per target.
- Primal Fury: Standing power attacks hit all targets in front of you and cost 25% less Stamina.
- Hunger (2): Attacks restore your Health by 25%/50% of the damage dealt.
- Pursuit: You move 25% faster and take no falling damage in Beast Form.
- Thick Hide: Take 25% less damage in Beast Form. This effect is doubled for 3 seconds after critically striking.
- Bestial Rampage: Beast Form lasts 60% longer.
- Gorging: Feeding restores 100% more Health and extends the duration of Beast Form by an additional 30 seconds.
- Savage Feeding: Able to feed off most dead creatures. Feeding off creatures instead of people only provides half the extended time.
- Lupine Ferocity: Howling increases critical strike chance by 20% for a duration based on the Howl's cooldown.
- Bloodmoon: Critical strikes reduce your active howl cooldown by 5 seconds.
- Hircine's Bounty: Call of the Wild restores 50% of your maximum Health. If you are at full Health, you instead restore Stamina.
- Totem of the Moon: Howl of the Pack calls werewolves.
- Totem of Terror: Howl of Terror lasts 50% longer and forces dragons to land.
- Totem of the Predator: Scent of Blood is silent to others, makes you invisible and move quietly and guarantees a critical strike. Activating an object or attacking will break the effect.
- Each subsequent perk now requires 1 more kill, down from 2, to compensate for the increased number of perks.
- For the purpose of the "Werewolf Mastered" achievement (if you have Achievements Mods Enabler), you'll need to unlock the whole perk tree to get the achievement.
- Perks that increase critical strike chance are multiplicative, not additive. Base critical strike chance in beast form is 5% and critical strike damage is 100%.
- Savage Feeding additionally allows you to feed on undead corpses, but not skeletons or machines.
- Lupine Ferocity's duration is equal to 13.33% of the howl's cooldown.
- Howl of the Pack's wolves (or werewolves) now count as true summons.
- While SPID is not required, it's recommended so that the Hunger perk correctly calculates the target's armor rating.
Beast Form Artifacts
- Frostmoon rings have been generally buffed. They now have a special ability affecting beast form only as vanilla and a generic enchantment affecting humanoid form only.
- Ring of the Hunt: While in Beast Form, your Health regenerates. Health regenerates 50% faster.
- Ring of Instinct: When you enter Beast Form, the world around you seems to slow for 20 seconds. Stamina regenerates 50% faster.
- Ring of the Moon: Time between Howls is reduced by 100% but howling costs Magicka instead. Increases Magic Resistance by 25%.
- Ring of Bloodlust: While in Beast Form, your critical strikes do 150% more damage, but you take 50% more damage. Increases Stamina by 50 points.
- Ring of the Hunt makes you regenerate 2% of your maximum Health per second in beast form.
- Magicka cost of howls when wearing Ring of the Moon is equal to 200% of the howl's original cooldown.
Full Moon Rising
- At the start of every full moon, you will be forced to enter beast form after 15 seconds of a warning and stay transformed for the rest of the night. During that night you have a 50 point bonus to Health and Stamina in beast form, and your vision will have a reddish hue.
- If you don't feed on an innocent NPC during that night, you will receive the debuff Hircine's Curse after reverting, which reduces your Health by 50 points, and lasts until you feed on an innocent NPC in beast form.
- Innocent NPCs are any humanoid that belongs to a crime faction, i.e attacking them in humanoid form would incur a bounty.
- Equipping Hircine's Ring prevents the full moon forced transformation.
- If you don't want forced transformations at all, type "set WerewolfFullMoonRisingGlobal to 0" in the console command, without the parenthesis.
Lycanthrope Blood
- Werewolves can now inflict the Sanies Lupinus disease in combat. This disease reduces your movement speed by 5% and can be cured normally by a shrine or a Cure Disease potion. However, after 3 days, it will progress to full Lycanthropy. You will be forced to enter Beast Form upon transforming. Curing Lycanthropy then requires progressing through the werewolf questline.
- To support this change, werewolf world interactions no longer require progressing through the werewolf questline; they can now appear anytime at night, as long as you are level >= 10.
- If you sleep while infected with the disease, you will wake up with an altered vision briefly and a message appears, stating "You dream of the moon, and of a man who is less than a man."
- You can also loot werewolves for Werewolf Blood; an alchemy ingredient with Lycanthropy as first effect, which immediately turns you into a Werewolf upon consuming. Vampires can use them as normal Potions of Blood.
Lycanthrope Hunters
- When having beast blood, you might get attacked by 3 leveled Silver Hand enemies, until you finish the Purity of Revenge quest.
Compatibility
- Incompatible with other Werewolf overhauls.
Recommended Mods
- Werewolf Claws Affect Spider Webs or Wicked Werewolves. Otherwise, you won't be able to cut down spider cobwebs in beast form, which is a vanilla issue.
