Arvyn's excellent mod allows the player to skip the prisoner cart ride sequence and the gameplay tutorial during the escape from Helgen. The game starts near the end of the cave, where you can create your character and pick either Hadvar or Ralof.
The mod places a chest right by the cave exit, which by default contains:
Gold - 20
Imperial Light Armour set
Imperial Shield
Imperial Bow
Iron Arrow - 30
Iron Greatsword
Potion of Health, Magicka and Stamina - 2 each
Potion of Cure Disease
Book - "Killing - Before You're Killed"
Skill Book - "The Buying Game"
Spell Tomes: Flames, Healing, Sparks
You start equipped with an Imperial Sword with a custom enchantment that deals 1 Fire Damage.
I found this to be a bit too much. And from a roleplay perspective, a random soldier's armour is probably not the best fit. Therefore, I removed the enchanted sword from the starting inventory, and altered the contents of the chest outside the cave:
Gold - 20
Iron Sword
Long Bow
Iron Arrow - 15
Potion of Minor Healing - 3
This makes for a bit rockier start, of course. I opted to remove the spell tomes to allow for better roleplaying opportunities with mods like Immersive Spell Learning and Aetherius - magic feels much more rewarding when you've put time and effort into studying it.
I am open to suggestions - feel free to post them.
