Why not use this quality in "Beyond Skyrim" for the Imperial City? It is what it should be like. This is so wonderfully done. Maybe a district around the White Gold Tower instead of just graves and monuments?
this one looks good enough, the floor needs a good texture and it will be usable with a bit of depth of field. You could compress texture in BC7 and add mipmap. Will reduce size drastically and look better at midrange. I dunno if prebaked shadow is a great idea :/ wont react well with lightsource/
"I only port models, I don't actually make them. For your reference, I think the modeller made this 8 years ago for a mobile game icon, so that might explain why it's a tad outdated. I wouldn't know how to do anything more complex than what I already do which is simply port stuff, and allow for transparency, but maybe one day I'll learn more, come back and fix it."
Porting includes adapting for the engine. You or the friend optimized the meshes for the betheda nif system, it's the same for textures. Because it works, it can be overlooked but it is not a good modding practice in general, as it will end with troubles for the end user.
Skyrim doesnt like the lack of mipmap, it induces shimmery artefacts. It also prefers compressed, bc1 for no alpha, bc3 for alpha or BC7 format for higher quality with or without alpha (but unusuable by the old 32 bit skyrim). Also smaller download, less size on disk, less vram used.
You can use tools like Cathedral optimizer https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23316 it fixes everything extremely fast after the learning period, may be a bit bothersome at first, but if you really care for yours mods, that's the necessary step.
For the floor texture, the end user is be able to replace it if needed with few steps on paint.net, it's ok.
"I get what you're saying, it's just not as high on my priority list. I've always been a 1.0 - 1.1 - 1.2 - etc. kind of piecemeal modder rather than getting everything possible done in the beginning, at a phenomenal level. If I do the latter, I stop working and releasing all together. I'll take your suggestions for improvement under advisement, but there just isn't enough motivation to take this hobby as seriously as a real job (or more seriously in general)."
Alrighty, i understand and it's logical. However, please, try cathedral optimizer, atleast once, to have an idea of how easy and fast it is to optimize the textures once the tool is setup for yours needs, 30 seconds. Enjoy your modding adventure!
"I'll suss it out. There seems to be a generate mip map and compress textures check box, I never used that before when using CAO, but I'll give it a try and see how it turns out.

What a great game that could be.

Update: It crashed my game. Oh well."
