Ugh, I love this architecture so much. It's giving Falkreath def.. But why did you remove the hall of dead, that's literally the Santa Cruz of the Nords, I wish that instead of an arena It would have been an amazing church/chappel/wood catacombs that resembles Falkreath as the graveyard of Skyrim. But love it so much, wish I could use your textures with my Great cities. I'd endorse it without downloading it.
I added a Mausoleum, which could be considered Hall of the Dead, and a stave church, but that has an open interior so i couldn't name it anything. Vanilla Hall of the Dead was a complete joke in comparison, literally just a small farmhouse like any other except it had some banners in front.
Looks fantastic, but more than that, it fits my notion of what Falkreath should be. Dark wood, with a "Heavy" mood too it. I can practically smell the smokey wood. lol
Some of the finer details really stand out. For example, the tiny window you can see from the Jarl's throne is a real window. You can go up the stairs into that room and look down. I like the whole thing, but the details are really great. Quite different to your Morthal, which shows that you are able to set a style aside and make something completely new. Well done.
I also like the long walkway over the fortified wall. The arena was fun too. And the Arkay Chapel has an interesting attic with realistic supports that looks structurally sound.
It's not that I go around looking for such details, it's just that there are so many very cool things that catch the eys. So nice. You should be working for a gaming company...if you don't already.
Minor fixable issue: I installed in an existing game, and all cell interiors are totally fine, no missing floors or any of that. My only issue was that "Valga" the innkeeper was inside the old tavern cell. I fixed her up with console commands, which you can see in the "Bugs" tab here, under "Innkeeper".
As for the innkeeper, as you guessed, that is most likely the result of installing mid game. I'd reckon there are other things broken with it as the result of that, although NPC mods could also cause that.
I really like this, it looks beautiful and I love how seamless the whole arena thing works - I think it makes sense for it to be there, not only as a nod to the city's Cyrodiilic influence (as you said in a previous comment), but also as part of the Falkreath's relationship with death (its history of battles; having the largest graveyard, at least in lore; the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary being in the same hold; etc).
The only thing that keeps me from fully embracing this overhaul as my go-to Falkreath mod in every playthrough is the graveyard, which I in my opinion needs to be a big part of Falkreath's identity so I really appreciate when mods expand on it. I like the stave church, but I need more tombstones ;_;
Anyway, this is a mod of yours I always find myself coming back to, and I think that's good :)
i love your mod and how it respects my culture but i do have to point out two things, stav churches and the architecture made for houses around the same time did not have one tone roofs. most houses would have hay, shingles or more than likely a layer of dirt with grass and bog ontop, if they used wood the wood that was roofing would be darker. it looks very uhm basic when its so monetone, and personally i think bog/grass roofs would certainly make your overhaul stand out. secondly they did not use nails when making stavchurches. so seeing them in the church makes little sense. also really hoping for a patch with nature of the wild lands, lux via and northern roads
Thx for trying my mod, hope you keep it in your load order!
I realize that having all the houses have same aesthetic as stave church is a bit fantastical, but such was my creative choice. The wood is as dark as i could make without clashing too much with vanilla Skyrim. Most of vanilla Skyrim wood is very bright, probably so that players with poor quality monitors could still see stuff and have a nice gameplay. As for the nails in the stave, i also realize it's not realistic, and actually the floor texture in my standalone stave church mods has no nails, but it would be a bit wasteful to have a separate texture just for the stave floor... maybe i'll reconsider that for the next version.
There is a patch for northern roads, and should be for lux via as well, not 100% sure.
its here to stay lil bro🤙 what i meant was that wood would generally be the colour you have and roof if used with wood would be a dark black due to how its treated much like vanilla, of course i understand. have a pleasant day
