Hi everyone! I've uploaded a version of the mod that combines all the colors of Real Rabbits HD and is harvestable in the style of Wiseman's fixes. Sorry it's taken a while to get the latest update done. Enjoy!
Update 8th June '24
Hi everyone! I've uploaded a new version of the mod that uses BOS to distribute all the different colors of rabbits from Real Rabbits HD. It's also locational, with snow rabbits more likely to appear in snowy regions. To use it, you'll need Base Object Swapper installed. At present, when you harvest the rabbit, the whole thing will NOT disappear (you'll still get your raw rabbit leg, though). I'll upload a Wiseman fixes style version soon. Enjoy!

Version 1.1 adds hangingrabbit02.nif to non Real Rabbits version. Make sure you've got SMIM IM installed before installing the mod, otherwise you'll get some funky looking rabbits! Enjoy!

I've uploaded a version of the mod that is harvestable in the way Wiseman303's meshes are. That is, the rabbit will now disappear when harvested. Hope you dig the update! Thanks to all of you who've downloaded and endorsed so far!

I'm stoked to be able to update the mod to include a texture based on Real Rabbits HD by fadingsignal. This means that hangingrabbit02.nif will now use a shell texture to fit Fadingsignal's black and white rabbit retexture. If you use SMIM, SMIM IM and Real Rabbits, make sure you've installed the Real Rabbits patch from SMIM IM and then install my Real Rabbits version. Overwrite the meshes at each step. You'll now have fluffy black and white rabbits as well as brown. Huge thanks to Fadingsignal! Please be sure to endorse Real Rabbits HD and give fadingsignal some kudos!
Excuse me, Frank, could you clarify the load order when you have everything installed? SMIM, WM Fixes, Real Rabbits HD, SMIM IM, and Fluffy Hanging Rabbits? I've downloaded the SMIM rabbits shell textured version, but I fear I might be missing a step somewhere.
No worries. SMIM is the base, SMIMIM after that, Wiseman Fixes (you don't need it for this mod but it's a good base for harvesting mods), Real Rabbits HD (with it's patch) and then this mod. Let me know if your rabbits aren't fluffy after that. Hope that helps.
Can you play Enderal now without having to launch it instead of Skyrim? When I last played it (waaaaay back when it was first released as a mod) you could only launch Enderal and not Skyrim while you had the mod installed. If you can run both now, I'll reinstall it and take a look at some of the Enderal requests I've had.
Wanted to bump this query, I know you've been busy with a bunch of other sweet diversification mods which I also very much appreciate! Keep up the stellar work, Frank!
Hey Frank, if it's not too much trouble could you make the eyes closed on the new color variants as they are on the 2 original ones? I got so comfortable not seeing the bunnies dead open eyes! Thanks!
I was just looking at the textures in the folder...rabbit_shell_b in the textures folder seems to have a shell "fuzzy" cover over the eyes but the others seem to have the eye open. Perhaps it just looks that way in the image software? This is what I'm seeing:

I could just be misunderstanding, my apologies if so.
No I didn't mess with it after I posted, I think it might just not be as visible on the snow/white rabbit...look at the tan / brown variants. Does the texture not still apply with the visible eye even (with the fluff) the mesh being one piece? The mesh using rabbit_shell_b (with the obvious covered eye in the texture) seems to be the only one with the closed in game. I'm guessing I never noticed the black and white variant being that way before due to the black head but it seems to be. Sorry for the space hogging in your posts section FB, your help is very much appreciated.
Any plans of color variants? I really love and prefer your mesh/texture but I know I'll miss the variants from Real Rabbits HD. A patch to overwrite those rabbits with yours would be the perfect realism
I'm just finishing up a patch that will allow all the rabbit variants from Real Rabbits HD to show up as hanging rabbits. It'll be regional, too, with white rabbits more likely to appear in snowy areas. I'll try to get it released tomo.
Frankly speaking, I don't really like it. But I guess I'll unpack the BSA and see if I can just grab the model and then do something about that fur. Thanks for your fluffy series :)
I've uploaded version 1.1. that includes the hangingrabbit02.nif for non Real Rabbits users. You'll still need SMIM IM installed first, but this version covers all the hanging rabbits. I may return in the future and attempt to put together a standard SMIM version, but the SMIM mesh is less detailed and will require me to redo all the shells and textures to make it work. Not meaning to sound negative; it's just quite a bit of work, so we'll see.
really nice work. But what about the hanginganimals02.nif - there are a lot of bunnies and all are not fluffy. They even have all the same boring look, no color difference... so I am sure they want some attention too :)
The best way to add some variation is to install the Real Rabbits version. It's a fantastic mod. I've uploaded a v1.1 for non Real Rabbits tonight, that includes the hangingrabbit02.nif. As it's based on SMIM IM, its texture paths point to actors/rabbit.dds, so they look the same as hangingrabbit01. To do the basic SMIM rabbits, I'll probably have to redo the whole mod, as the textures (even after upscaling) from basic SMIM don't fit the mesh I've been using (SMIM IM) for the rabbits. That doesn't mean I won't do it, but it won't be for a while.
I've taken a quick look at the meshes and it looks like Wiseman303's fixes might allow you to harvest the rabbit and have it disappear when you do. Does that sound right? I think I can make these compatible if that's the case.
I've now uploaded a version that is harvestable in the way Wiseman303's hanging rabbits are. You can safely overwrite Wiseman303's meshes with the new ones.

To get your rabbits to look the same as in the screenshots: Install Static Mesh Improvement Mod, then install Static Mesh Improvement Mod Improvement Mod (overwriting when prompted), then install High poly HD Rabbit by Pfuscher, and finally install this mod, overwriting again when prompted. Thanks for checking out the mod!

I've uploaded a Wiseman harvesting Real Rabbits HD version today. Enjoy!
Are you able to post a pic? The mesh I used for the color variants is the same one I used for the original rabbits. In my game they don't have eyes.

That's all good. In game, the meshes don't have eyes and so you shouldn't be seeing any dead bunny eyes. I agree, that's definitely creepy!
