I think this sounds like a great idea! I know the description page the mod is really only there to give an RP reason to delay the final fight with Alduin HOWEVER it does not have to be. Having 3 or 4 Dragon Priests that you forgot to hunt down show up to buff or heal Alduin and blast the crap outta you would certainly change up that fight considerably without needing a major dragon overhaul mod.
Thanks to the open permissions on this mod, I have made a patch file which does exactly this. If you install the patch, the quest should start when you next get a Courier, even if you've already passed this point of the MQ.
I see various comments around "could this be done earlier", or "I'm already past the first Alduin fight but would still like to have this", and I was wondering whether it might make sense therefore to stick the quest start on the Story Manager, rather than on a single specific line of dialogue. That way, it would be much easier to patch for people's personal preferences, and it could also easily be started by anyone who installs it after going past that Paarthurnax dialogue line. Personally I would start it at Stage 20 of MQ204 so it can run alongside SV Paarthurnax, rather than starting at the end of MQ204.

Both versions can be installed anytime so you can start the quest even if you've already talked to Partysnax about the Elder Scroll.
I have not received the note from Esbern, though I already played up to The Fallen where I am supposed to talk to Jarl Balgruf. I am using At Your Own Pace.
I went back to a save right talking to Partysnacks, same result. Nothing unaccounted for in my inventory, as far a notes go. This mod was part of collection, so as long as it doesn't affect anything I'll just ignore it.
Hey, does this work mid game somehow? because I added it to my load order after having already defeated a couple of the priests and it is not registering them as such. The markers just sorta hover over their corpse and nothing i have tried changes it
