Coming back to say that, for some reason, the effect's not working on my game. :( All the other additions and features are working as intended, and the menu closes to allow the animaiton to play, but my character's just standing there before the game goes to black. The same goes for when she appears, which is lacking the effect. I also added the mod as an exception to Glow be Gone, so the effects should technically play properly.
I tried checking xEdit to find any conflicts and there are none, so I'm out of ideas for now. Any help will be appreciated.
EDIT: I tried on a new save, added the compass through console, and tested it out. It's working fine there, so something's up with my current character. I'll do more testing to see what causes the effect to not trigger.
EDIT 2: I still can't figure it out. It's definitely something with either my current character or current save (maybe usual Skyrim shenanigans where a save going on for too long starts bugging out). Do you think installing this on an ongoing save could cause this issue somehow? How about my character being a vampire? I'm out of ideas again xD
Hi Are all other functions working properly? Menu closes, UI turned off, controls temporarily taken away, fast travel, UI and control returned? Just the actually shader and effect not firing? Are the distortion and sparks around the player showing and just not the shader? Vice versa? Neither showing?
Does making yourself not a vampire through console fix the problem? Do you have any active magic effects? Does removing them fix anything? Let me know what you can, thanks!
I found it! It seems that installing this mod on an ongoing game where I've already found the relic and placed it in the museum might cause this bug. Here's the thing though, it ONLY applies to the one I placed in the museum already. If I spawn a new one through console command, that one works 100% as it should. Not sure the exact conditions for this bug to occur, but it does seem to be something along those lines.
Here are gifs to show. First one, I'm using the original relic I found a long time ago, and had placed in the museum. See the missing effects.

And here's me spawning a new one after throwing the old one to the floor, and using it. All effects, including sounds, are playing as it should!

Anyway, I just used console commands to delete the previous one I had, and use the new one I spawned through consoles. Problem solved ^^ Quick question, do you know how complex it would be to apply such an effect to Odin's Milestones spell? That spell allows me to place 5 teleportation pillars, and I'd love to add the same effects as you added here. My knowledge in script modding is limited though, mostly restricted to SSEEdit.
If you place the new one in the museum and take it back out does it still work properly? I wonder if the act of placing it breaks the effect, or if the old version of the compass script was firing simply because you acquired it before installation.
I'll do the test tomorrow when I can find some play time! I'll report back. Also my bad for the 2nd gif that ended way too soon. Something bugged out when I uploaded it. It was supposed to show the teleporting effect working properly after I head outside.
Hello again! did the test and the compass is still working fine even after placing it into the display and taking it away. Therefore, I think it has to do with installing it after possibly already finding it, due to some weird script thingies? Anyway, if that issue happens, anyone can fix it by using console commands like I did, and only need to do it once!
EDIT: So I kinda figured out what's going on too, kinda. From what I understand, scripts attached to an object is basically "baked" into that object, and so changing it mid-game can cause it to not update to the latest iteration unless the item's "respawned" (like I did by removing it and adding a new one). The same thing happened with Dirt and Blood Expanded, where all my previously crafted soaps weren't using the features from that mod and I had to craft\add new ones. Seems it's just a normal Skyrim thing!
