    Version 1.25:
Fixed a visual glitch that caused the player's body to morph to black momentarily when using healing spells after using the Revert Form option from the Combat Menu. Thanks to Nexus user Iliav328577 for the bug report!

    Version 1.2:
Fixed a situation in which becoming a werewolf through the Growl mod's new methods would leave a few required values incorrect. This would cause some Moonlight Tales Mini features such as the Lunar Transformation to not work on these werewolves.
ʉۢ If you became a werewolf through The Companions everything was already OK.
ʉۢ If you became a werewolf from Sanies Lupinus, or by using the Ancient Ring everything was already OK.
ʉۢ If you used "Werebeast Blood" an ingredient from the Growl mod to become a werewolf, some values were incorrect. Moonlight Tales Mini will correct these from now on.
ʉۢ If you sleep under the stars in the Growl mod to become a werewolf, some values were incorrect. Moonlight Tales Mini will correct these from now on.
If you used the above mentioned two Growl mod methods to become a werewolf, just load up the new version and turn into a werewolf once. It will fix the values.

    Quick question.

Why is Moonlight Tales Mini larger in size than the full Moonlight Tales SE?  I would expect Mini to be considerably smaller?

    What is the difference?

    Thanks.

i guess the skin system is what makes this mod big. Textures

But the same skin system is in the full Moonlight Tales SE and the full mod is smaller in size, so that makes no sense.
At this point (040123 AM), not hearing an answer, I can only assume that Moonlight Tales Mini is in reality the Full Moonlight Takes SE plus additional code so that it will work with Growl.  Not being a programmer, I cannot tell for sure but at this point my assumption makes sense.

In any event the only thing I missed from Moonlight Tales vs. Growl was the moon-howling in MT SE, and that's no big loss.  So considering my above reasoning, I deleted Moonlight Tales Mini and am just using Growl.

Well there are two new models in this version when compared to Moonlight Tales SE.
There are also new sound effects for the Sanies Lupinus disease.

Well if that's the case the full version, MT SE, should be called Mini and the Mini version should be called MT.
This whole thing just doesn't make sense.  I mean why are you calling this Mini if it's larger than the MT SE?  What's Mini about it?

On the Moonlight Tales SE page, someone posted a notice to all readers that now there is an updated version of MT SE and pointed to this mod (Moonlight Tales Mini).
So now it's starting to make some sense at least.
Presuming MT- Mini is in reality the current version of MT SE - the additional size could then make sense.
Wishing mod author would have stated something to this effect instead of letting people run in circles questioning and guessing, needlessly spending their time and his.
      Sheesh!

What makes this mod mini isn't file size (since textures, models, sounds and such is what makes file size) but the actual scripts, features and stuff.

This mod doesn't touch the skillline of werewolves, nor the 'playerwerewolfchange' script, it doesn't have looting and a bunch of other features that the SE full version has.

It's Mini because it touches less, thus is more capable, less scripts running that can break and so on. Compare the size of the ESP, not the full mod.

Please don't be rude to the mod author when y'all honestly could have just read the description closer of both mods to see there's a lot of features not present in this one, and that's why it's called Mini. The mod author didn't lie or mislead anyone.

      Thanks for your explanation.
I am not and have no knowledge of programming.  I know what a file size is.  I do not know what a "script" is nor am I familiar with any other programming or mod related jargon.  Frankly, nor am I presently interested in learning it.

Aside from being placed on the defensive here, I appreciate your explanation.

It would be nice, however, if someone with your and the mod author's knowledge got togeather and edited the mod description to include the pertinent parts of your post so that another mod user unfamiliar with the (modding) trade would better understand the mod in question.

A little stated clarity goes a long way.

Thanks guys and please lets not continue beating this horse, so to speak.

To be fair, you are the one that came in hostile and accusatory towards the mod author and with a lot of assumptions while not knowing, nor caring, of what you speak of. These kind of comments can cause a lot of harm as people are all too quick to turn on mod authors, who provide and offer their work for free, stuff that takes months of work to perfect, bug test, repair and more. I personally could never dream of making a mod like this myself either, and I've tried.

As someone who is an avid user of Moonlight Tales ever since we only had one version and it was for Old Skyrim though, I am quite familiar with it's features and workings. So, if it will help, I can state the differences below.

      SE = Moonlight Tales SE
Mini = This mod, Moonlight Tales Mini

SE Skin System: Only textures, no meshes.
Mini Skin System: All textures of SE but also 3 additional meshes for werewolves.

      Conclusion: Increased size.

      Some feature breakdown.

      SE: Robust looting system
      Mini: No looting system

SE: Overhauled skill tree with new and edited perks
Mini: Does not touch the skill tree at all

      SE:No Sanies Lupinus Disease
Mini: Has a Sanies Lupinus Disease system (werewolf disease)

      SE: No werewolf world encounters
      Mini: Has Werewolf world encounters

SE: Robust werewolf howl aiming system, which I assume uses SKSE to tell where the player is aiming when using the shout key, which decides which howl to use, both default and within the overhauled skill tree. This is a very complex system.
Mini: A simple pop up menu when sheathing your claws to select your current howl/shout power or to revert form. And a little boost to your timer if you sheathe your claws and aim upwards. SE version has something a lot like this in addition to the aiming thing described above.

      SE: Lunar transformations.
Mini: Lunar transformations (don't believe there's any changes here? But maybe.)

SE: Upgrade to Hircine's ring, so you only need it in your inventory to have unlimited transformations.
Mini: Does not touch Hircine's ring (or any vanilla records but more on that later.)

SE: Adds boosts through the Companions' werewolf totems to the three werewolf shout/howl powers.
Mini: Does not touch these totems, though the sheathing claws system allows you to swap howls like the totems do on the go. SE does this as well.

SE: Includes a combat difficulty scaling system for werewolves, buffing or nerfing them according to your preferences and difficulty of your game.
Mini: Does not include this system or anything like it.

SE: Includes the option for a knockback cooldown of 10 seconds so you can't stun/knockdown-lock your enemies (can turn on/off)
Mini: Does not include this option and leaves it default (knockdown lock-able)

SE: Includes customizable choices for summoned minions of the Brotherhood howl, to call wolves, werewolves, or a combo of the two.
Mini: Does not touch the Brotherhood howl itself and thus cannot be customized.

SE: Wolfkin alliance, in which wolves and werewolves won't attack you if you are a werewolf, both in human and wolf form.
      Mini: Also includes this feature.

SE: Includes an optional kneeling animation for your werewolf when transforming back, and a optional stagger to your human form once returned.
      Mini: Also includes this feature.

SE: Includes the ability to destroy spider webs in werewolf form.
Mini: Does not include this, but there are many fixes and werewolf skeleton edits that cover this (wicked werewolves, bigger werewolf tails, Growl probably and so on)

There are probably other things I'm currently not thinking of or stuff that's very nuanced to explain. But it basically boils down to one thing. Moonlight Tales Mini does have overall less features, even if it has a few features SE doesn't have, they are still capable with most other werewolf mods, unlike the full sized Moonlight Tales SE, and this mostly boils down to one thing.

Vanilla records, namely the script called "PlayerWerewolfChangeScript.pex". Most werewolf mods out there, including Moonlight SE, Growl and so on, edits this script. Which makes them incapable with each other, because you can only have one mod that edits this script (and this goes for most other things too).

Moonlight Tales Mini is unique in that it offers many features still WITHOUT editing this script, at the cost of things like Looting, Overhauled Skill tree, more Robust howl angle instead of a pop-up menu and so on. This means we can pick Mini, and then still be able to run another werewolf mod that DOES edit this script. (Like Growl, but not just limited to Growl either, I use my own collection of things now cause I personally do not like Growl.)

These features however will not alter the overall size of the mod that much, because the size of mods in general is all in additional models, textures and files, not script edits. Script edits are tiny changes in terms of file size, but actually are some of the biggest 'things' to mods and is also what can cause capability issues when running numerous mods that touch on the same kind of stuff. Hence why Mini was made.

I hope this makes sense, and if the mod author wishes to correct me on any of this, they are free to do so.

I appreciate your trying to be the spokesperson for the mod author but I am sure he/she can speak for themselves.

You accused me twice - of being "rude to the mod author" and of being "hostile and accusatory" to the mod author.  I note you have not provided examples of your assertions.

If the mod author felt uncomfortable with my posting I am sure he or she would have no issue in communicating that to me.  They have not done so.  But you have.  I hope you are not upset.

Lastly, I did not read your lengthy mod detail to completion because as I've stated above, Moonlight Tales Mini was deleted from my computer days ago and there is no further interest in it.

      Goodbye.

      @Wolflady500

Just want to say: Wow, what a great and needed explanation of the differences between MT SE and MT Mini!

I don't play as a were-beast, so I think I will switch from MT SE (which I actually have had for years) and choose this MT Mini version since it has the encounter mechanism. Plus, if I DO want to play as were-anything later, this would likely be more compatible with OTHER were-mods. Hopefully I have luck ESLing MT Mini (See my other post here).

I, too, gave you a kudo for the well written details!

Thanks for this updated version of the original mod!

I checked to see if it is ESL-able. I extracted the mod from the BSA. This mod does have 16 scripts, but also the sources (thank you!). I quickly searched through them for the "GetFormFromFile" and there were none that I found, so that is good.

I ran MaskedRPGFan's ESPFE Follower - Eslify facegen and voices script that easily automates the process. It seems to work. Below is part of the log.

"Plugin Moonlight Tales Mini.esp will be processed with 608 records.
    ...
Converted FaceGenData: 0, not converted: 0, missing: 73.
Converted voice files: 0, not converted: 0.
    Deleted files: 73.
Plugin Moonlight Tales Mini.esp was turned into ESPFE by compacting FormIDs and adding ESL flag in TES4 header.
[00:01] Done: Applying script "__ESPFEFollower", Processed Records: 1, Elapsed Time: 00:01"

My guess is the missing FaceGenData is because the were-creatures are not human.

So, I think it is OK to ESL-ify this mod, but did not test yet.  Of course many existing patches for this mod would not work any more. I am hoping that spwned (or someone else, if they can get permissions) can upload an ESP-FE version so official patches can be made for it. It may be a good idea to give the new ESLed version a slightly different ESP name so patch collection mods can know which version users have installed.

Has anyone had success ESLing this mod?

growl is throwing a hissy fit at me on startup about this mod overwriting something or other. Vortex doesn't report any conflicts and I haven't found how to force load order in vortex so I'm just letting it ride. I'll report back if I have any problems.

Leaving this comment so that if someone else has this problem in the future they'll find something - I looked through the first four pages here and didn't see anything, so I'm assuming it's a me-problem so far.

recommend switching to Mod Organizer 2 over Vortex. Vortex is quick and easy for games that are quick and easy to mod. For big Load Orders in Skyrim you want MO2. Not to mention MO2 protects your vanilla game so whenever you want you can just open the game without any mods and no files get corrupted  :)

I don't know what's happening but I can't change my werewolf skin its stuck on vanilla. Every time I choose a skin the next option says to save I have to press select but the select option is to disable appearance options.

Never mind I found Moonlight Tales Mini Mcm Mod that fixed the issue

I tested this mod and its companion MCM mod. All of the features work with my Skyrim SE 1.5.97 setup except that the entire appearance customization system does not work at all on my setup. I get a black and brown female werewolf (I have a female Nord character) no matter what model I select and and no mater what eye and fur color I select. NPC werewolves are likewise black and brown. It's possible that some mod from "that other site" is overwriting Moonlight Tales, but despite trying a few load rules I have not been able to figure out which one and I have no other mods that should touch werewolves. If I ever figure it out I'll post the solution here.

For whatever reason something keeps overriding the werebear texture that I select. Thought it might be SOS, so removed that and it's still getting overridden. Thinking maybe Growl is overriding. Any suggestions are VERY welcome as I can't seem to figure this out...

Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent random wolves from infecting you while still allowing full werewolves to infect you? For my tastes, wolves are too common of an enemy type to be carrying the disease.

Awesome mod :) Is there any way to extend the timer for the Moon Howl to be beyond 20s? I'd really like to just be able to roam around without killing anything and worrying about the timer running out.
