Formerly a mage's keep, this lore-friendly player home is located along the southern edge of Lake Ilinalta, nearby Half-Moon Mill.

A spouse and four children are able to move in with the addition of Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions by TMPhoenix
Not interested in adoption? A converted children's room to follower's room version is available too - tested with My Home is Your Home

V1.1 Update: Added a new rooftop planter with 8x plots, fixed functionality of bookshelves, resolved issues with random trespassing warning and tower doors are now properly locked on arrival. *if updating from previous version, be sure to clear out containers and save+exit away from the area to avoid losing anything*

Features

Magelight Keep is a ruined fort with two towers and an outdoor courtyard area. There are pre-existing deposits in the area to mine, as well as a wood chopping block to the east. The first (smaller) tower is a personal library. The second tower within the central area of the keep is a multi-level living area.

  • Library with plenty of space for books
  • 4x large display cases, 5x small display cases, 3x wall weapon mounts, 1x wall coat of arms mount, 6x floor weapon racks, 3x mannequins
  • Trophy base hall with Hearthfire-style functionality
  • Alchemy and Enchanting stations
  • Outdoor Smithing area with vendor
  • Children's room with 4 beds
  • Servant's Quarters with 3 beds (1 extra for a follower)
  • Kitchen with cooking spit, Hearthfire oven, butter churn, and mead barrel
  • Bedroom with storage throughout

All containers are safe to use and player owned with the exception of the barrels and crate outside of the smaller tower (Magelight Keep Study) in the exterior area.
Two resident NPCs go about their daily routines here. Lugrub gra-Bura is a Blacksmith that offers vendor services from 8am to 6pm. Merta tends to the tower by cooking and sweeping.

To move your spouse and children to Magelight Keep:
1. Download Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions SE + the optional file: Increased range patch for behavior packages
2. Enter the main interior of the Magelight Keep and cast "Bless Home" (automatically learned from Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions)
3. Initiate moving dialogue with your spouse/children

Entry

Enter the Magelight Keep Study first to find your key to the main tower.

Requirements

Skyrim v1.6+ (lower SE versions are reported to be working as well)

Skyrim.esm
SkyrimSE.exe
Update.esm
Hearthfires.esm

Compatibility

There are two options available to download - the keep has a spare bedroom with 4 beds - you can choose between a children's room or follower's room.

The main versions have stronger lighting and particles more appropriate for ENBs, and alternatively there is a miscellaneous version for vanilla lighting. The primary difference between the two is the appearance of the central main tower sun beam/magic glow and image space settings. Download according to your preference. The vanilla lighting version is not actively supported and will stay at v1.0 - I see that it's not nearly as downloaded as the main version and for every update I need to implement the changes to four separate .esps which is quite time consuming.

An optional file can also be downloaded that adds a small stable for the your horse. Simply overwrite the .esp matching the spare room version that was originally chosen.

Please place the .esp as low as possible in your load order to avoid conflicts.

This mod affects a few cells to the east of Half-Moon Mill. Three dragon spawn points have been disabled to prevent fights when fast travelling to the home. Any mods that alter landscapes (terraforming) may cause visual issues - the only area I noticed this with my testing was behind the main tower.

If you are using Nature of the Wild Lands - Forest and Trees Improvement Mod there is a patch available. Thank you Chlamydia1 for sharing the file.

Enjoy

* made clean with SSEEdit and tested with a vanilla install and mod-heavy install. This is my first time using the Creation Kit and second house mod. Hopefully there won't be issues but if there are please post a comment and I'll see what I can do *
