Currently this includes the detailmap dds for beast races male/female but only male for non-beast, no female. Did you forget to include the female one, or do female models actually call the male detailmap?
they may have planned o have beast races with detail on it, but possibly later discarded the option in development. and they likely didnt have time to backtrack and remove the texrures.
maybe they are nt seamless, i have checked the pics and this is all i can see: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1704/images/24174/24174-1597194569-1232393452.jpeg
I'm still getting seams. I've used this mod before and it has worked in the past. I'm using Tempered Skins for Males/Females, and I have made sure that this mod is loaded after them. Anyone got ideas?
i'll refer you to the post right below. a tl;dr here as well.
Skyrim has 4 maps that affct seams. Diffuse, normal, specular, detailmap.
diffuse normal and specular are part f the skinmods, like tempered skins, or Fair skin etc, and they need to be made seamless by the autor of the mods. i'm pretty sure that most mods do that by now. if not i have a skin texture mod that contains seamless maps, called women of skyrim.
What otherthing could be the problem? Simple, you are not using the blank detailmap, but instead you're using a different complexion in the skyrim racemenu slider.
It's where you have freckles, age or the less common rough. Depending on the mod you use for those they can have seams too. I'd recommend you check which one you're using in racemenu, and from which mod it comes from.
So I replaced Tempered skins with women/males of skyrim and then reversed the process again. I think what happened is it forced the detailmap file to take effect and now I am getting a very minor seam at the neck but much much better. I like how actually seamless your skin texture mod is but my misled tastes prefer the look of tempered skins (even though your mod looks much more fitting with skyrim lore), so I will be settling with this setup for now.
Thank you very much for your quick reply, you the goat!
well i found this on google:_ https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/g5x5lz/neck_seams_in_tempered_skins_for_females/
maybe t could help, maybe not idk. seems like some file sin TS for females are not exactly seamless, but not all are. (i'd bet it's speculars, but it's just a gut feeling on what is the easiest file to mess up)
it's not an easy question, and not a question <I can exactly answer, as i'm not the autor of that mod. However if you don't have seams, it probably means it's fixed Some users reported the one included in bijin skin was not color corrected, and therefore not workin properly (it was same as vanilla) the question is, did fair skin just grab the file from the vanilla game, or did tweak it to make it seamless?
Considering FS is quite good quality, i'd think it's seamless, but it depends on what you see in your game, if you see a seam, it won't hurt you to install.
If I'm not mistaken, FSC detail map is a blank square. I've had installed in LE with no issue. In SSE I use The Pure as a base for my own skin mix, and its detailmap fix has never shown seams - it's the same FSC file. I do get visible neck/body differences when using some specific normals in BHUNP body type (I say this because if I use the same exact textures with a UNP Blessed body, it doesn't show the same visible difference). It gets me a bit confused as to what exactly affects these differences. :D I've been delving more into it since I've been sharing my skin mixes on the Nexus.
On a side note, it was super cool to hear you get mentioned in Rigmor of Bruma, the legendary khajiti tailor Zz'jay ;)
BHUNP has seams while using UNP specific textures. i don't know why the author changed UVMAPS, but they need a specifc set of seam files (normalmap in particular, (but diffusemap too can need fixing, unless it's plain color around neck). But that's a completely different issue from detailmaps, which yes have to be blank squares.
They'd need to be made in blender, maybe i can get you some basic files, but you'd need photoshop or alike software to use it. I have made a PSD, but while it removes seams from BHUNP, you'll then have seam with regular UNP meshes: https://mega.nz/file/XVMRADgb#BNSksuUqVW-mxxW-5z4k98Knax8DAYy3Qg0ZcaRVG_w
this happens due to mismatching uvmaps, tha are caused by adding polygons in the edges areas. TL;DR : don't use BHUNP if you care about consistency.
Thanks for this! Mistery solved, wow! I was super frustrated about not being able to use a specific normals set because it always got seams but you totally clear that up! Going to have a look at the psd you shared, thanks again!
Random request: could you please fix some of the vanilla hair meshes for females? It's not just the hairstyle Camilla has, a few different hairstyles have this seam near the ears too.
Now, I have to hunt down all the blankdetailmap.dds in them standalone NPCs, followers mods I have to be replaced, and make sure I'm not replacing actual detailmaps lazily renamed blanks in their standalones. Busy busy busy ...
So me seeing mods doing great gets me to download without question nor reading the description, however I didn't have a problem till now. I uninstalled the mod and the seam persists so do I manually have to delete the fix from within or can I reinstall my previous textures from before to overwrite it? To throw out there I downloaded this with skin textures which didn't turn out well but nevertheless any fixes is appreciated, great work
this mod does not a skin texture. So there's no point in uninstallling. it's a fix that works for skin texture mods.
You must keep this file active, or you'll get the light seam, unless you use one of the few mods that bundles it in.
If you read the description you'll know this file has no cosmetic effect, and i's a fix that should always be installed, no matter what skin texture you use, as you can install any other mod on top of this.
This file is like 1kb in size, even if another mod includes it, (there's a few) the files will be identical, and worst case scenario youllhave 1kb less of space on your hard drive. On the other hand you'll get rid of all of your seams headaches.
I mean unless this mod is installed the seam will be there. barely there, but still noticiable enough. If you're asking for a solution to this, i made this mod for this reason, and for this reason it's independent form ANY skin texture. because not all of them include it, and ive seen few people complaining bout seams on supposed seamless textures.
If you want to know what this file is, it's a 2x2pixels neutral grey texture, because bethesda messed up and compressed their detailmap, and it got some color artifacts, that affected the neck color, giving it a brighter, reddish aura.
I'll give it another go, I just glanced and assumed it worked with all skin textures, it's that I have around 1500 mods & through some conflicts appear out of the blue, for example like downloading armor that conflicts with the sky, which makes me lean back & laugh. I'm just one of few that this tends to happen to occasionally, & to be fair I'm not tech savvy but I understand the way of things but most of this went over my head, but you did make it clear for me which that's all I really need to fix this. I hope you didn't assume I was saying your mod didn't work, text is very difficult to express through because seeing the other posts, it's common sense to see this is working fine I just have to react my previous actions.
Mod managers do not detect real conflicts. It just tells you which mods have common files. It's not a real conflict, it's just that 2 mods edit the same file. Conflicts are usually in the .esp files, and mod managers are not able to see those.
For example Sky and armors use both cubemaps, and cubemaps are redistributables used by any object in skyrim that has reflections. One cubemap is called quicksky for example, and is used to simulate sky like reflections on surfaces.
If 2 mods contain a file like a cubepmaps, yes you can use both, because the 2 conflicting files will be identical files, ndnot a gamebreaking issue, like using 2 mods that haveconflicting plugins. An example of that would be using AFT and UFO at the same time.
I know what the problem you are having comes from, and that's why i dislike modern mod managers. I tried to explain it as best as i could, but really some mods have shared files, this is one of them. see them like windows redistributables bundled with games. if you have them and installl them again nothign happens, if you dont have them and install them your game will work. Mod managers will telly ou the 2 games conflict with each other. makes sense?
this is an independent file, that works with every mod. what is written below will explain what a detailmap is, and why it has no effects on mods used. It'll also explain that seams can come from a variety of different sources. this fixes one of them.
Spoiler:
Show
Skyrim heads use 5 textures, the common 4 you can also find in the body, and are usually those included in the skin texture mods.
This mod has nothign to do with those 4 textures, but edits the fiffth one, the detailmap.
What are detail maps? they are those textures used in the COMPLEXION slider, (yes, the freckles, old age etc...) If you select the default one, it'll use the blankdetailmap, that is essentially supposed to do "NOTHING".
The problem is thta the vanilla one, is too bright, causing a slight seam and color difference between head and body (small, but still noticiable). This mod fixes that problem. Being a file that has no detail, beside the neck discoloration, it can be used with any other mod.
Are you using a different sweaty/glossy texture than what comes bundled with your body/skin mods? Or does your skin mod even come with wet/sweaty/glossy textures? It might be the cause. (I apologise for the random mod support on an unrelated mod page)
Not sure if you solved your problem but I disabled some settings and it got rid of the neck seam. You should only use the sweat drops and glossy options.

Wood Elf Female still has a seam for me though, is it as easy as copying the blankdetailmap for them too?
My normalmap for wood elves females is from Cathedral

You basically have to set vertex normals off in nifskope.
Not sure if the issue is still present in SE version tho.
