General note about compatibility: I would recommend overwriting anything else that was just a variation of the vanilla gradient textures with these, however, if you have some mod that replaced one or more of them with something that straight up looks completely different, let that mod win the conflicts in that case.
If you do encounter any general weirdness beyond that, though, let me know and I will look to see if it's possible for me to provide a patch for the particular mod in question.
Edit: 0.0.4 should resolve any remaining issues while retaining the intended quality of this mod, but as always let me know if you have any issues with it.
Strange, this mod makes my loading screens flicker incredibly fast. Hiding/deleting all the textures that contain the word "smoke" solved the issue though for me. Just thought I'd post this here in case somebody else is having the same issue.
Thanks. Did you have any direct conflicts in terms of overwrites? If not, then it seems likely you have some kind of custom smoke meshes added by a mod somewhere that are for whatever reason somehow not set up to handle an increase in resolution over vanilla textures.
I placed it at the bottom of my install order so it was winning all conflicts, but yes it was overwriting textures from Arctic - Frost Effects Redux, Enhanced Blood Textures, WEBS S.E, Embers XD, Inferno - Fire Effects Redux, Holy Wards - A Retexture, Skyrim Particle Patch for ENB, Monster Mash, Skeleton Replacer HD, Ghosts Spirits Souls, and Water Effects Brightness and Reflection Fix. Also, after disabling all textures containing the word 'smoke' in the mod the issue still randomly persisted occasionally so I ended up unfortunately disabling the mod.
That's a highly unusual amount of conflicts TBH and certainly would indicate weird meshes in some other mod that aren't actually compatible with vanilla textures... I would in that case maybe recommend trying putting it ABOVE the conflicting mods.
The description page for VAE 2-023 says this: so the author just straight up included this whole mod in it. Meaning you don't need this at all as a standalone mod.
well now, this is a must. thank you. i was sort of wincing at the bright red flames from recent updates to other mods, dropped this at the bottom of my load order, and it certainly solved that, and much more. high hrothgar looks absurd.
It's definitely noticeable when particle effects are on screen IMO. The gradient textures as originally released didn't really blend in the way they were intended to due to the significant block compression artifacting (and lower resolution). With this mod you should see far less "stair stepping" on the edges of and inside things like magic swirls / fire effects / etc.
The EBT blood texture includes the blood waves. Is there a functional difference between yours and theirs besides linear quality?
Also, your water texture has a sort of gold-ish and green-ish tint to it while the ENB water gradient has a grey-ish and blue-ish tint. Is the difference significant?
@Sorlomon in both cases those differences were specific edits by the people who made those mods. All my textures here are directly derived from vanilla assets.
BRUH 16x?! Why did they make that lol, that's absolutely bananas particularly given what hardware was available in 2019. Like the impact that would have on performance anytime a lot of magic or other particle effects were on screen would be unplayable.
OMG...some of those are 22mb each. graddragondissolvemagic.dds weighing in at 89.5 MB. That is a waste of space unless you are playing on 8K 72 inch OLED.
What can I say? I didn't know of any other gradient mods at the time, lol. I also am not an expert at how things run under the hood. Gradients Waifu'd was more of an experiment to see if it even made a difference. The 16x version was kinda intended to see if I could make characters look better for screenshotting than anything else. Options people!
Anyways glad to see someone with hopefully actual know-how is taking a swing at these. Will definitely be trying.

Skyrim Textures Upscaled - Complete Vanilla Upgrade
Thank you for your quality mods!
textures/puddle/decalpuddle
Improved Vanilla Water has some images of the puddle which I refer to.
I sort of address this idea in the stickied post.
I have a question: if (placing below) using this alongside the new Visual Animated Enchants, Mod Organizer tells me that this mod becames redundant.
It's a must to put it below VAE?

I'm wondering if it is really noticeable in game or is it more for screenarchers/tinkerers/perfectionists ?

Also no problem, no skin off my back really haha.
