I've put a couple thousand hours into HB, and I feel like it's pretty much done.
It has a few lingering bugs, but for the most part these are mod compatibility issues. It has a few unfinished and unpolished features, like Soups and Stews. Most mods do.
I'd like to get 1.6.3 released at some point to address Hunting in Skyrim compatibility. No promises.
I'm working on adding SKSE and MCM support but as a solo modder taking care of two followers and working full time at the Dead Man's Drink to pay off my bounties I can't provide any kind of release date.
My best advice for troubleshooting is: Read the manual. Learn to use xEdit. Uninstall and reinstall using NMM.
I will try to drop by from time to time to answer posts. No promises.
The version available here doesn't even require SKSE, so it's 100% compatible out-of-the-box. If you''re using the Hunterborn SE MCM version, that should be compatible as well, as long as you first grab the SKSE Preliminary AE build. We'll be looking at adding support for Creation Club content in a future update.
No, that is not normal. When you first launched Hunterborn, did the quest start instructing you to access the fresh carcass of an animal or use the "Options: Hunterborn" spell to enable the mod? If the quest isn't firing and you're not seeing the Options: Hunterborn spell in the magic menu, I would guess that the mod isn't installed correctly in your mod manager.
i think this mod isnt compatible with Static Mesh Improvement Mod because i believe that mod changes the rock texture which deonst fit with this mods sharp rock
Aside from the addition of some patches, this version of Hunterborn hasn't been updated since 2017 either, so I expect it should still work with the patch. As far as newer versions like Hunterborn MCM, I would recommend using the old patch as a guide; it's been years since I've looked at RND, but patching for it mostly involved adding keywords (and possibly effects?) to existing ingestible/food records, as I recall.
While enjoying the mod for a few months now, before reading some of the comments here, I never realised it was THAT complex! The serenity of living in harmony with nature and unscrewing things that humans screwed (like mammoths killed for sports and the like) is helping me deal with reality (as in, real life reality). In this game I caught a curse which was not (ok, it was) fun at all, and now I guess I'm looking forward to so much more ^____^
I love this mod, it makes playing a hunter character so much richer. However, it inexplicably causes CTDs when you go west of Fort Dunstad (FortDunstadExterior02). Even more inexplicably, this is only true if the mod is enabled. Disabling Hunterborn in the MCM, then going into the affected area stops the crashing. Even leaving and reentering the area using coc did not cause me to crash.
Edit: If you have this problem, keep Hunterborn disabled through Dimhollow crypt.
Once again, I really love the mod, but thought others might have this issue as well.
Hey. :) Just dropping by to give a huge shout-out to DrMonops for going way, way, way above and beyond in tirelessly supporting this mod. You are an absolute treasure to the community!
Aw shucks, thanks for the shout-out. :) Hunterborn has been a staple for me for years, and it's been a privilege to support it. Great to see you're still around!
Most of the features of Hunterborn, including corpse processing and related actions, seem to be working. However, the vanilla loot window still appears, and when I interact with a corpse to try and obtain meat, bones, or pelts, the animation and time passage happen as expected—but I only receive an item called Animal Remains(a trail of prey). No meat, bones, or pelts are ever added to my inventory, no matter how many times I try.
I've tried with both a hunting knife and a regular knife using item spawn, but the result is the same: only Animal Remains every time.
Can anyone provide advice on this issue?
English is not my first language, so I apologize if my writing is unclear.
For reference, I have survival mods installed, including Survival Mode, CACO (Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul), and Campfire. I suspect there may be a conflict between these and Hunterborn
Are you using only this version of Hunterborn, or are you also using the Hunterborn MCM mod? I don't recall any "Animal Remains" item in Hunterborn, and haven't been able to locate anything like that in the mod (but Hunterborn is a big mod and it is possible an item is having its name changed via script).
It might be helpful if you could link some screenshots or possibly even a video of what you're experiencing. Your writing is very clear, but given the complexity of the mod, it would be helpful to see exactly what you're experiencing. I wouldn't expect any of the other mods you mention to interact with Hunterborn's harvesting mechanics.
Do i have to enable it somewhere in game? When i click to search in a dead animal nothing different happens, like is not working. Does it only work on fresh games? Im using latest mod version in Skyrim SE 1.5.97. Thank you for your time
It works with all game versions and shouldn't require a new game. When you first launch Hunterborn, a quest should fire which instructs you to access the fresh carcass of an animal or use the "Options: Hunterborn" spell to enable the mod. If the quest isn't firing and you're not seeing the Options: Hunterborn spell in the magic menu, I would guess that the mod isn't installed correctly in your mod manager.

Any choice to get a patch for Cooking with Fire , please?
Best regards!
