Is there any version for Skyrim Legendary Edition?

I noticed that this doesn't carry over some weather/location changes by USSEP. Can I give you my plugin which adds those or should I upload it? I'd probably put it on the same page as my Mihail/Unbidden patch.

Dave; could you make a mod that uses these textures/models when you raise a humanoids? Like undead vfx, but with your visuals?

It's a good idea but I'm not sure how it would be done. I suppose a new skin could be made which would be "worn" like armor, and some kind of script makes the NPC wear this skin upon being reanimated.
I'm working on other stuff right now and doubt I'll have the time to look into it, sorry.

I don't mean to sound like an ass but isn't that essentially just less decayed Draugr?

draugr are nords who naturally came back to life due to their resting places being disturbed, this seems to be for npc corpses and seem to only be through dead thrall spells.

I think zombies are different lore-wise and looks/atmosphere-wise IMO.

I've always thought the draugr were kind of mummified/preserved to some extent, whereas a zombie is essentially a rotting corpse which has been reanimated.

I'm not sure why but I've never really liked the draugr that much. In the game they mostly look like grey creatures to me. They look too clean I think. There's not much to suggest they're hundreds of years old. The draugr in the movie "The Northman" looks much better I think. I guess that's a new idea for a mod.

After googling the draugr from The Northman it looks about the same as the dragur from skyrim, but maybe that's just me. It might've just been the picture I found. And I wouldn't call the draugr too clean. They just don't have any major wounds on them.

Either way though, to each their own. Not for me but I can see the appeal.

Consider looking at Playable Draugr SSE for ideas on how to implement clothing for the corpses.  As it stands I am building my Worm Anchorite playthrough and this is just perfect.  As for more places to place them if you can get them armored why not make a few battle fields with some of them from both sides of the civil war?

      Thanks for the suggestions.
I think the Playable Draugr mod gives the draugr skin to humanoid models. With this mod I'd prefer to keep the zombies as draugr models for their animations.

The battlefield idea is good, I'll try to make some stormcloak corpses.

I think it's neat that you're putting normal clothes and armor on them, sets them apart from the typical draugr. Have you considered making a playable race mod using the zombies?

I agree. At the moment they just wear hats and helmets, but even just that makes a big difference IMO.

As for making a playable zombie race, it wouldn't work with these zombie models because they use the draugr animations/skeleton, not human ones. Also, personally speaking but playing as a zombie wouldn't make sense to me lol. They're supposed to be under the control of a necromancer.
Having said that it would be pretty funny having a zombie dragonborn, getting married etc.

Yes, I didn't create the models myself. I'll add that to the description to be clear.
I can't find the author's name anywhere but I agree, the models look great, whoever made them certainly did a fantastic job.
I've looked into 3d modelling myself but I'm nowhere near skilled enough to make my own models yet, maybe one day.

As for "Rotten Corpses SE", I found it after uploading this mod and was kind of relieved to find it was slightly different to mine! I think a combination would be good!

Rotten Corpses uses a free resource, Futoshisan's Creepy Zombies https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6044

Which also has an update here https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31280

Yeah, us VR players can not use mods that use assets from Creation Club DLC stuff...

This. Gonna redownload AE to see if the CC files can be transplanted to make this work in VR. Whoops - looks like this is a la carte paid content - gonna pass on that. Would have to rename ccbgssse003-zombies.esl to ccbgssse003-zombies.esp to get it to show up in VR and update this mod to use the .esp as a master and not the .esl. Not sure if it'd work or not without trying it, but definitely worth an experiment if someone has this content for SE/AE and VR. Cool looking mod..!
