I'd like to make a request about bug reports. Before reporting a bug or commenting about an issue you're experiencing please do the following:
Revisit the mod descriptions for this mod and Immersive Equipment Displays and verify that you have all of the requirements installed and have followed the install instructions correctly
If using version 2.0.0+ re-run Nemesis and verify that "Mod Installed: Read the Room" appears in the console
If the issue still persists please try to include the following in your comment:
What version number of the mod you're using
A description of what issue is occurring
In what conditions you're seeing the issue occur
If the issue can be replicated in a new save
If you do the above it will dramatically increase the odds that I'll be able to replicate the issue on my end and identify its source so that it can be resolved. If you've checked the comments you'll see that I'm more than willing to reach out and try to help those experiencing issues and have a strong desire to improve this mod where possible. I only make the above requests to try and streamline the process and make it more likely that I'll be able to help you out :D
Updated instructions on how to fix the blank MCM after updating:
Enter the MCM, click the "Deactivate Mod" or "Remove perk from player" options depending on what version of the mod you are running
Save the game and backup the file somewhere
Disable Read the Room
Reload the game and use the console command "setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1"
Wait for the "Read the Room" MCM option to disappear from the MCM menu
Save and close the game
Download ReSaver and unzip it somewhere on your machine
Run ReSaver.exe and select your most recent save (sorting by "Date Modified" may be helpful)
Navigate to Clean --> Remove unattached instances
Spoiler:
Show
Use File --> Save to save the cleaned save file
Reactivate mod
Reload the game and use the console command "setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1"
The updated MCM should now appear correctly (length of time for MCM to reappear varies greatly. For me it was ~1 min for others 10+ min)
I apologize for the hassle and confusion on this topic. I'm still a relatively novice modder and this is the first time I've ran into this issue. Thank you for your patience, and if anyone has any tips on how to avoid this issue in future updates I'd appreciate the input.

Hmm, maybe I didn't understand your message correctly but, I can't access "desactivate mod" or "remove perk from player" since the mcm menu is blank, is there a way to do that with console commands ?
Great point. You'll want to use 'player.removeperk PerksEditorID'
The exact editor ID will change based on your load order but can be found using console commands or xEdit. To do it in the console use the command 'help "Read the Room" '. It'll show up as "PERK: (Editor ID) 'Read the Room'". In my case it is FE24A800. To find it in xEdit just open the program and let it load your plugins, then navigate to ReadTheRoom.esp --> Perk --> ReadTheRoomPerk and it'll be listed under Form ID as 'ReadTheRoomPerk "Read the Room" [PERK:EditorID]'
Let me know if you have any other issues! I tried to be detailed on the instructions, but there’s a lot of variety with how much experience people have modding/using these tools
maybe you should add to reactivate the mod after cleaning the save, since some people won't think about it. And i had to wait for maybe 10 min to see the menu appear after doing the command
I tried it with the console but even after finding the ID in xEdit the game tells me "Compiled script not saved!" I can not even find the mod when typing help read the room, it just says not found. The mod is activated and is in the MCM but blank.
I really dont know how to fix this anymore.. sad. Its one of my fav. mods.
for those who are struggling with the mod seemingly stopped working for some reasons, here are a solution that I found in bugs section that helped me fixed it: - The only solution is to go to the Troubleshooting part located in the MCM, then in this order, remove my player's equipped helmet, pressing "clear any placed headgear" in the MCM, "disable mod - player" and then hitting "enable mod - player". After that, it works, but again, it will stop working shortly after, usually, but not always, after combat.
For those that need help with the mod and animations aren't playing: You need FNIS with Nemesis. Make sure to run FNIS and run Nemesis and the animation should work. That's what fixed the problem for me. This works for hoodies, helmets, etc. This also works for modded armor you just need a hoodie and helmet and it should work. Hope this helps! :)
After launching FNIS, I now have the ' Mod installed: ReadtheRoom ' in my Nemesis. It took me 5 min ingame + MCM > Read the room > General > Troubleshooting/Uninstall > Enable Mod Player to get it to work.
you dont need both fnis and nemesis. You only need one or the other. FNIS screws up too much for me. Been using nothing but Nemesis for the animations and it works perfect.
I really want to keep using this mod, but I can't. It bugs all the time, sometimes it runs normally, it just stop working, sometimes it make my character do the T pose until I stop running so the helmet animation can play.
it happened on mine too. So usually if u click "]}" key it will remove right, now it only removes helmet on my npc follower but not mine. Not sure what caused it. still wouldn't work on my character after reinstall.

edit : works !
When I’m listing commands to run in the instructions you would type everything between the quotations

If i wanted to exclude a specific npc. i only need to remove the perk from the mod right? or there's any other way to do it?
Optimised Scripts for Read the Room
There is also a more recent mod this feature :
Helmet Toggle 2
