---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recent Patch Notes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.4.1 - 21st Nov 22
Hotfixed duplicate form ID.
Version 1.4 - 20th Nov 22 Main SoS_Seasonspatch.esp is now unfortunately too large for ESL flag. other plugins will remain ESP-FE.
New objects: - Added new custom wooden shack floors for use where shacks or awnings are placed directly on landscape mesh. This enables 'no snow' decals to be added. - Added new custom stable floor base for Windhelm.
Worldspace edits: - Made worldspace edits to landscape mesh where it clips dirt through the bottom of some statics making it impossible to remove snow in those area''s without an edit (i try to avoid worldspace edits where i can and keep them minimal) edits at the following locations: + Ivarstead Nordic barrow + Labrinthian Nordic Barrow + Windhelm stables + Silent Moons Camp Nordic Barrow
Removed snow from existing assets: - Removed snow from Morthal, Windhelm, Dawnstar & Winterhold. (due to the way that seasons of skyrim adds additional snow in winter it covers many objects that would otherwas not be covered in these already snowy regions. These changes then have to be accounted for in covered areas). - Removed snow from Castle Volkihar
Added snow: - Added snow to some Hearthfire assets
Environmental changes: - Improved a number of dirt cliffs, rocks and tundra statics to improve the transition of snow on the edges of dirt cliffs. (still more to go in next update) - Fixed some rocks that were swapping with Ice variants rather than snow in locations that did not make sense.
Fixes: - Fixed shelf position in the cave behind whiterun. - Changed blue palace floor to a swap rather than an overwrite to improve compatibility and improved the no snow decal so there are no longer any hard lines. - Fixed WR fence rubble
** New Files **
1) Winter Specific ESL file. Added a new optional file that addresses issues that Seasons of Skyrim cannot object swap for. This includes Stockade Gates. Unfortunately as these objects are not supported by Seasons Swaps this file is designed to be turned on manually when playing in winter in the same way that you need to for Grass Cache.
Obtained patch permissions to start working on patches for: - Lux family of mods - SMIM - FYX mods
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional Info ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Required feedback from users: - Need for patches of major landscape/city mods? majestic mountains? - Any specific issues with stability (unlikely), compatibility or mesh issues.
development plan: - Complete remaining major areas - Add SMIM & FYX patches - Add Lux compatibility as required
Upcoming Patches: - GGUNIT has provided perms for Lux, Lux Orbis, Lux Via patches. - Perms obtained for SMIM & FYX patches. - OCS Patch fully complete, but no perms obtained at this stage. - Plan for JK Skyrim patch in distant future.
Current plan: 1) Fix existing issues as they are discovered, reduce conflicts and improve compatibility. 2) Add patches for major conflicts 3) continue to expand mod 4) Add patches for soft conflicts (SMIM, FYX etc)
Sorry for the long hiatus from the community. Parenthood really is a trip!
I've come back to modding Skyrim with some of my limited time now. I know that there are some issues with this mod that i am not happy with and i plan to return to fix these issues when i can, separate out some of the feature creep (Separate architecture, landscapes etc) as necessary provided there aren't other tools that do this better in the community now.
I know there are some bad meshes that need to be fixed. I would also like to rectify things that i would like to have done better the first time around like using SMIM as the bases rather than vanilla mesh bases as lets be honest, everyone has SMIM in their lists.
What i want to say in essence though is this. I am aware of some issues, i plan to fix them when i am able and i am still keen to see seasons be truly reliably usable across mod lists without compromising immersion. It may just be a slow process before we get an update. Thankyou for your patience.
I am also aware that Jonaldo had been working on a number of solutions and fixes that are quite substantial, however i am unsure of where this is at as I haven't heard from him in some time.
@vucien : hello, would it be possible for you to fix your mod?
Here is what DynDOLOD reports:
Warning: Plugin filename "Skyrim" is invalid. Line 495: 0x03925E~Skyrim|0x0B6266~Skyrim.esm Warning: Plugin filename "Skyrim.esm`" is invalid. SoS_Seasonspatch_NOSNOW.ini Line 486: 0x054CA9~Skyrim.esm`
In reality, these are easy errors to fix; anyone can make the necessary changes. However, the problem is that other modders make similar errors as well, and it only takes one oversight or not looking closely enough for a cascade of errors to creep in everywhere.
It wouldn’t require much effort to reupload an archive free from these errors. Thank you.
Would anyone know how to use the Manual Enable in Winter v1.1 in the optional files section? I have a texture that refuses to get swapped to snow textures and I would really like to turn it on if anyone can roughly explain to me how it works, thank you!
Heyhey, is it intended that the snow is present at spots which would normally not be if only Simplicity of Snow would be used? Like... roofed parts in front of buildings and such?
Hi hello! I am still trying to troubleshoot this problem, but I was hoping someone with more knowledge might be able to clue me in on a problem I am having in Riften exclusively. Mod has been working amazingly, but after a few repeat trips to Riften I am starting to have funky texture issues where if my camera turns at certain angles most textures in Riften impacted by this mod turn a grayish color.

I cannot figure out why this is happening, especially because it wasn't a problem before. I think I remember seeing a post somewhere saying Seasons of Skyrim can do this to parallax textures, but I don't use parallax. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!
These worked wonders with the parallax textures I have + seasons. However, during winter wrstairswater01 in Whiterun (stairs going to gild tree) won’t be covered by snow. Any thoughts? I have Skyrim 202X + SRP AIO.
Hey I know it hasn't been long since you returned to modding but have you managed to fix any of the z fighting issues yet? This mod is the only thing that fixes the dark grey snow issue from seasons for me, if the z fighting gets fixed I think this mod would genuinely be a must have for any seasons mod list.
This mod has issues, there's a lot of z-fighting. Here's a video example: Ive tried removing every single mod, except seasons of skyrim, simplicity of snow and their requirements, it all works well. As soon as I add this mod I get tons of issues. Not sure what to do
Yes, i am aware of this and as per my message above i am only getting back to community now. I need to fix a number of the mesh edits, however in some edge cases the Z-fighting will need more creative fixes as hinted at by Jonaldo. I will be trying to address this mod when i am able, though my time is still quite limited.
SolidudeWIN terrain has a large number of seams (no transitions at the edges of the terrain) And some textures may flicker I am trying to fix this issue in NIF, but there is really nothing I can do. I hope someone can solve these problems
I am working on fixing all issues I find in this mod. Just be patient. The terrain seams are as far as I remember due to inconsistent textures and vertex alpha settings. The z-fighting decals are mostly due to incorrect alpha flags, but some of them are not and required a bit more sophisticated resolutions.
Is this what is causing my problem in the volcanic tundra or is there something wrong on my end? These are those cracks/fissures that have jets of steam coming out.
So ill explain whats happening. Whichever mesh is being used for those assets has a banded mesh layer around the edge of the asset. That mesh layer has the alpha property (transparency) applied to it. This allows the textures to blend with eachother at the edge of the rocks. The issue is that Simplicity of Snow will not add snow where alpha is present. the hard lines you see here are the edge of that area of mesh that has alpha on it.
Some ways to fix this:
1) You could fix this by overwriting the mesh with a new one that fixes the alpha for snow. (If you can find one, i don't think my mod got up to touching those assets specifically yet, there may be something in seasonal landscapes or a similar mod.)
if you are REALLY keen you can do the following (two methods this mod uses):
2) you can edit the mesh to blend the alpha to create a gradient for the snow. You create a gradient by changing the vertex colours to various shades of grey to indicate how transparent they are. this method often requires creating a duplicated layer & adding new verticies and topography unfortunately. White = Show, Black = transparent. That is how the snow is blended from where it is, to where it isn't. This is quite time consuming though and essentially what is done in this mod with many many assets. (probably not recommended with this kind of asset as the grass texture will still show where it blends (green poking through the snow)
3) you can try just creating a duplicate of the .nif -> then adding the suffix "snow" to the end -> Change the texture applied to the mesh from grass to a snow texture (ensuring to also update the normal map) -> save the Nif -> create a NEW copy of the Static for this asset in Xedit with the suffix "WINTER" -> change mesh path to your new snow mesh -> Add the snow shader -> record the original base ref ID & your new assets ref ID -> create a seasonal swap .ini for your new patch (See seasons page for how to do this) -> create a form swap in that ini to swap the original asset with your asset in winter. Save and tada you made a patch :)
Those who had seam problems with the bright and dark snow textures conflicting in some areas with snow mods, download - Paraphernalia - Snow Colour Fixes mod, that helped me fix with those problems

The SraidiantRaimentssnow.nif has an issue with a wall (in the parallax version).
