Apologies for the late response; I must've forgotten to reply when I first read your comment. Well, better a year late than never, I suppose. :)
If anybody accidentally unequips the Wabbajack in this way, you can access your inventory again with the "enableplayercontrols" console command. This will allow you to re-equip it without needing to roll back a save.
If I was stuck on an island and could only have 10 mods, this would be one of them. It's simple, but it kind of changes the way I play the game in a good way. Well done.
This mod does not write anything to the save folder.
For further assurance: I've been using its unreleased non-MCM version for quite a while now, and that has never happened. Additionally, I copied the MCM code from another public mod of mine, Maleficus' Traversal, which doesn't do that either. :)

I notced when I deleted may previous saves i accidentally deleted a file named after this mod. And it broke my recent save files.
