I recommend combining this with:
To remove Quick Save, Save, and Load Save from the Main menu grab the optional file from here: QuickSave Button from the SkyUI System Menu (Optional file: Remove QuickSave Save Load Buttons)
Shadow of Skyrim or any other death modification mods.
Then rely only on the Vanilla autosave functionality to save your progress.
If you're wondering why,
There are no mods that I can find that disable the quick save and quick load and remapping the keys in-game to a far part of my keyboard and/or just not using them isn't enough for me and doesn't feel organic. I found Shadow of Skyrim to be a pretty fair death alternative mod, and Skyrim's autosave feature saves enough that I'm not worried about losing progress if a crash were to occur.
Beware
Do extensive testing on your load order before using the combo of mods I recommend. You won't be able to easily revert your save to before you accidently killed Meeko. If your load order is prone to crashing, I also don't recommend this, although vanilla Skyrim's autosave does save quite frequently.
Compatibility
Any mods that rely on the quick save and quick load functionality have some issues. An example and workaround for one of those mods is Racemenu . Mainly when it comes to preset loading. F5 and F9 will no longer work for Racemenu. The workaround is to just use your cursor and click the: "???". That should bring up the menu for loading presets like normal. This is the only mod I encountered this issue with. But besides issues like this, not many other mods mess with controlmap.txt, so it should play fine with most load orders.
