In fairness, that link should probably be put in the description so as not to turn away people who pay attention to the "last updated" date (which we all should), but thank you for the link and I'm excited to try it!
For whatewer reasons new versions of mod with half of nexus in rewuirements don't work. But this version works fine. The crafting recipe is nowhere to be found, but you can purchase a lanterns and oil from Belletor in Whiterun. I've still yet to found "mysterious mountain critters" but your average torchbut works wonderful.
I use the latest version, but when I do a new mod installation I get the message: could not read the configuration profile nor write in it, this may be because the permissions are not enabled to do so in the data/skse folder. how can I fix it?
I have the same problem. It seems to work just fine if you ignore the message though. edit: after some searching, this fix worked for me and the message after every load is gone: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19348 "Chesko's Wearable Lanterns - SE and VR Patch"
If having issues with this mod's dll check out Wearable Lanterns MCM Fixed no DLL Error mod and posts for help. This mod still has way more options than "Simple Wearable Lanterns - Remastered". (the Simple Wearable Lanterns mod is outdated and has been redone by the original author)
I love this mod. Sure, it's clunky, and super outdated, but it works. I tried Lights On, I've tried Simple wearable lanterns. I've tried so many, it seemed stupid, and I could never get them to work like I can get this one to work. It toggles, but stays on the hip. It doesn't interfere with IED, nor do I need to navigate that clunky menu just to get my lanterns to show up.
It doesn't save settings. And everytime i use KIC or Dirt and Blood washing, I've got to change the position of my lantern. But it fuckin works.
I would love for new models. That's my only desire, and no, not those crappy ones that removes glass available under requirements.
Anyways, point being—the mod works, and works good. If you can't get it to work, your doing something wrong.
I saw a lot of comments about this issue so I'll put the solution there since I encountered the same problem and didn't find anything in the comments to help. If, when you have an empty bug jar equipped, you're trying to catch a torchbug and it just collects it as an ingredient instead of putting it in the jar, try to catch the torchbug in third person view instead of first person view, and make sure your jar is equipped and visible on you !

casting spells to configure a mod is not immersive

This mod is great. You must've installed it wrong, or had missing patches.
