17 September 2024. I've been away from mod-making for about a year, but I'm back. I'm going to start again by making patches for mods that have been newly released in the past year. But I think it's going to take a while to rebuild the development environment because of the blanks for a while. It's going to take some time to fit in as I'm surprised at the evolution of the various mods. I'll start by looking through the post I've accumulated.
I have thoroughly researched mods regarding gamepads. One of the answers to my own combination of questions took the form of this one. I am not a native English speaker, so please use less difficult English.
06/03/2023 Notes: It has been reported that the Control Map 2 layout does not work well when lock-picking. Sorry, I can't respond now.
04/28/2023 Changed the button layout of the following attack mods The file itself is unchanged, only the description and images are replaced. Bow Rapid Combo V3 - Changed from B button to LB button. Dyanamic Sweep Attack - Changed from A + RT button to B + RT button
04/26/2023 V2.0 Renewal Version Released. The description has been renewed, but the past descriptions are still available at the bottom of the page. Also, since I am not a native speaker, I may have some strange English expressions that are difficult to understand. I might make time to use the English editing tool, but that's for another time.
Known Issues When in RaceMenu, the completion button is marked ESC, but pressing the X button completes as before. Please give me feedback!
Read the description (it's crazy long). I tried to write as clearly as possible, especially where controlmap.txt is concerned.
I'm thinking of creating a Steam controller setup without GamePad++
After a few years of experimenting with Gamepad++ and getting annoyed, I came to the same conclusion. Only went back to Gamepad++ because of... This mod.
I actually spent some time last night duplicating the setup here in Steam Input; you can find it if you search. Not entirely viable if you're not using a DualShock, though... Mostly because holding buttons on the D-Pad screws with the menus. Of course, if you're okay with using the stick to navigation menus, you can easily put the holds back on the D-Pad and not think twice.
Hey, I'm still trying, but I've had a little bit of a functional breakthrough. I feel like double-tapping via Steam doesn't have the delay issues that Papyrus-based GPP does. I'm going to be able to double tap the X button to open/close the Equip Menu for Wheeler, Serio, etc.
I'm not sure if the update is ready yet because the following issues have not been resolved yet. There is still some difficulty in maneuvering the wheeler while the inventory menu is open. I'm also wondering where I should put the buttons for the prone operation mods.
I actually got it mostly working. I can't use the "Swap Items" or "Swap Wheels", but otherwise I found a combination that works.
Open Wheeler - Left Touch Pad (this is the only one that's kind of odd) Next Wheel - D-Pad Right Previous Wheel - D-Pad Left Add Wheel - D-Pad Up Add Slot - D-Pad Down Equip Main Hand - Activate (X on Playstation; I believe A on XBox) Equip Secondary Hand - Cancel (O on Playstation, I believe B on XBox)
The right stick already works for selecting items on the wheel, and unless you're standing right in front of something, the Activate button works for equipping.
I had missed that A and B work. A pleasant surprise.I guess what I noticed is that the BACK button can also be assigned something when operating within the inventory. And I don't know what you mean by the left touchpad.
Oh, right, I'm using a PS5 controller, which has a huge touchpad right in the dead center of the controller, so I put opening Wheelmenu on the left side of that. It's odd mainly because it only works with PS4 and PS5 controllers.
I had it installed and working but realized I did not set up TUDM right. I reinstalled this mod as well as the SPID patch and Settings Loader. I still have the Serios json file in my JCUser folder and I removed the old ControlMap_Custom.txt file. When I started the game again I reset controls to default and matched the TUDM settings in the directions but now I am stuck with a default control scheme. How can I troubleshoot or fix this issue?
I'm working on a preset for Wheeler right now, but changing key bindings doesn't work. I'm still not sure if this is my problem or if Wheeler is still developing, but I need some time. But Wheeler has tremendous potential, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.
Yeah, I saw the error reports about gamepad key bindings randomly not working; sounds like it has the same issue as a few other mods (like True Prone System) where keyboard keys and gamepad keys have to be set using different options...
I know what you mean. Like Wheeler and True Prone System, I guess the author himself doesn't usually play with a gamepad. Am I too concerned with whether or not I can complete the controls with just the gamepad?
Hey when I hold Y to sprint I dodge forward before I could even sprint and I can't seem to find a way to fix it. I do have classic sprinting redone so I could hold to sprint instead of toggle, but I still dodge before sprinting anyways since dodging only requires a click.
Anyone knows how I can fix this?
Also when I click down on D-pad it says I cannot use this option because I'm not a female character. When I looked in here Down on D-pad is to heal so I'm confused about that to if anyone has any idea.
As for the sprint and dodge issue, it's not because of my presets. It's a DMCO or TK Dodge RE issue. So you might want to look it up on the mod page over there.
I think the "Also when I click down on D-pad it says I cannot use this option because I'm not a female character." is a message from some other mod, but I'm not sure. The MCM in GamePad++ allows you to customize key bindings, and I recommend that you edit them.
After testing many controlmap mods this is the best one for sure. Edit: Only problem I have with this control map is that if using tkdodge sprint key to dodge and you are locked on with tdm the dodge won't go in the direction you want to resolve this you need to assign other key for dodge then the sprint button.
I’ve never seen another person reference Gamepad++, much less create a really well put-together, thoroughly thought out preset based on it. I’m really excited to use this for my next playthrough
Thanks for the nice comment. This package is the result of my own challenge to see if I could centralize as much control as possible on the gamepad. Find your own best combination.

And I don't know what you mean by the left touchpad.
There are gamepads with rear buttons other than the PS controller.
However, as a mod publisher, I think we need to make a normal version first.
I'll give it a little more trial and error. Thanks.
This will be addressed in the next update.
Tentatively, try New Era Controlmap Alternate in the options file!

Thank you for the mod, and thank you for the clear and detailed instruction
I tried to devise a way to do a lot of things with just the gamepad. Glad to hear that.

You make a good point. That's great.
I had thought that was an issue for me as well.
To keep TK, Ultimate, and DMCO interchangeable at all times, the current button layout is the better choice.
I honestly can't help you with that issue.
It is basically a compatibility issue between tdm and tkdodge.
