Dear friend, none of the new versions are not working for me. I'm not using alternate death mods. I don't know what the downside might be. The previous version even worked with Shadow of Skyrim, but I stopped it a while ago. I rebooted into a new game and it was written that the materials were consumed and nothing was saved. Help me understand what can be wrong.
Hi! Starting from version 1.2 this mod only starts blocking saving after you sleep for the first time (to improve compatibility with alternate start type of mods and ease up new game starts). You have slept, right?
If I have slept in the house at alternate start and at the inn and travel from riften to dawnstar, I buy the materials, I try to save the game and I don't achieve anything. I use Alternate Start - Live Another Life - SSE and I'm at 11,630
I've tried all the versions and even the previous one. I wait a while. I travel, I change cells, I sleep in the inn, in the campsites... Nothing at all. He gives me the diary but doesn't keep it. I write in the journal but it doesn't save. I'm going crazy trying to figure out why. What it does do correctly is restrict manual saving. But it doesn't do hard saving. I don't have any other save modifications that I know of.
Dear friend... It works, It works again, I was cleaning my load order, update to 1170.. still wonderful!!! I'm so happy, and it works with Shadow of Skyrim.
Not compatible with Skyrim Souls it seems without disabling options, but that's okay. What I would like is another alternative of the mod. One that only saves while journalling, takes no time and no buffs... possible?
Hi! I like your mod(Save by Journaling and Sleeping - In a hurry). My vendors don't have quills, scrolls, or ink. I'm guessing that for there to be the desired loot, the mod must be at the end of the list, or perhaps some mod is incompatible with it. So I save myself through sleep. But if there is any other option, I would like to know. Because I want to buy a save kit
Hi. No, in the latest version the stuff is added to leveled lists with a script, load order doesn't matter. Writing supplies aren't meant to be very common either, really, "chance none" is pretty high by default (45). You can always rob wizards, they are good for it. Especially with Campfire to turn ruined books into paper. Now added a Higher chance optional plugin to make writing supplies more common in shops.
Good day! I like your mod, but... I've been playing for several days and the pen and ink still haven't appeared. I think because of other merchant loot mods, the 5 percent turns into a 1-3% chance of purchase. I propose to create an alternative in the form of scrolls. And the possibility of creating them from fabric and damaged books, which are often found in dungeons. The cost should not be low, but not cheap either. For example - 100 gold. Since I don't use mods for portable beds, it's very difficult to save. You have to constantly rent space in a tavern (you don’t have your own house, and you don’t have fast travel)
I've tested the standalone module version, and it cancels out the saving. Probably best anyway, since encounters spawns an enemy on top of you, and you likely won't be able to react in time when loading a save. So if you set the percentage of attack to, let's say 5%, you won't get a save 5% of the time.
Yeah its the standalone version I am talking about as well. I would want to turn off all the encounters from the mod except for dungeons and out in the wild.
Not sure if something's gone wrong with my install, but it seems that I only need a piece of paper in my inventory to save. The mod is skipping the checks for the inkwell and quill, but if they are present it will consume the inkwell, too. But the quill and inkwell aren't actually necessary to save apparently.
Absolutely love this mod, though, thank you for putting it out!
Awesome, thank you so much! The nerf for the Magicka and Stamina bonuses was a nice touch, too, makes it a fair bit less incentivized to try and spam saves through a dungeon.
I just found this mod and loved the idea, It would fit perfectly into my game, however I use Go to Bed and Skyrim Souls , two of the incompatible mods, a pity. I'll track the mod.
If I may, the animation of the diary could be a little longer and have the fade too black effect, for Immersion purpose :)
I use Go to bed and have no issues...which is really interesting as boringvlln himself says it is incompatible. I get saves on rest though. Double and Triple checked. Weird. I am actually concerned it works LOL!
edit: maybe I misread: What does "sleeping on save" mean? I took it to mean getting a save when you sleep.
I thought I fixed that odd typo! Well, darn it :D ... It works with Go to Bed? I though it used to just deny saving on sleep with this mod. Actual full saves, not autosaves?
Big big fan of the simplicity and stability of your mod - Been using it on a stable 800 mod load order, sometimes 45 minutes go by without a save, increases the tension.
I was wondering if there were compatibility issues with Live another Life? For now I've been only activating SBJAS after the load worlds in; having the mod active in LAL prison seems to bug out the introductions.
Lastly, I was wondering how difficult it would be for us to modify so save is only available at inns and player homes, so no saving at bandit camps or tents (ie Campfire).
Thank you for the feedback, glad it's been working well for you.
I haven't used them together, 'cause I switched to Quick Start. I'm not sure why would a conflict happen, tbh. LAL starts with a bed, but I didn't think you actually go to sleep there... Odd. Or it might be because it forces an autosave. Actually, yeah, Quick Start also showed some strange inconsistency when the game first starts. It is probably best to activate later, regardless of the start changing mod of choice.
I think to do that you would need to rewrite the script and attach it to the Well Rested effect (only applies after a sleep in owned bed). But that would be a) a complete rewrite, b) potential compatibility problems with mods placing beds not specifically assigned to the player. Technically, you can sleep in any unowned bed, so sometimes you encounter a bed like that in a modded cell, where there should be an owned one (and vice versa). Or you could get crafty and add some kind of check for the area (by Last Seed's example), disallowing a save in a dangerous area.
Ideally, yes, with any of the alternative start mods.
Edit: starting with 1.2 compatibility should be generally better. The mod should only start blocking saving after your first sleep. However, I don't know if Alternate Start specifically calls for a sleep event or not. So this particular one might still be an issue. Quick Start behaves well.

Pairs well with paper and Ink crafting.

If you want to share your version, send it here instead of creating a separate page though.
I hope everything is working correctly then :)
Now that I am already here, would it be possible for me to get permissions to port this mod to xBox?
Sure, go for it, just link back here, yada yada

upd: fixed in the update!

Go to Bed is a bummer though, that's for sure. That and Religion - two big conflicts.
