About this mod
Restricts saving to a summonable book placed on a table. Inspired by typewriters in Resident Evil.

Thanks to Campfire's amazing functionality, you yourself decide where those locations will be.
Upon completing Unbound (escaping Helgen) you will receive 2 items:
- 1 Note which immersively explains the basics (see images if you don't mind spoilers)
- 1 Misc Item (placeable with Campfire mechanics = you need to activate it and choose the spot, if you change your mind or can't find the right placement, choose cancel).
Do not immediately place the item. You will NOT be able to pick it back up. The note warns you about that as well. Read it.
Only place the book in a safe location, where you will be able to return in order to save the game. Choose carefully.
Saving remains enabled until you sleep or use the book on the table to save.
After your first sleep or activating the book free saving is disabled. You will only be able to save by activating the book. The amount of saves is not restricted. Creates full saves (the message will say Autosave, but if you look in the menu, you'll see full saves).
After placing the book, you will not be able to pick it back up. However, you can dispel (destroy) it by activating it while sneaking. Alternatively, you can use your usual Fire spells and burn it.
If you want additional saving stations, you can create them with Campfire's Create Item menu. There are 4 recipes in total.
One standard (1 Roll of Paper, 1 Inkwell, 1 Quill, 1 Empty Black Soulgem), and 3 additional ones. The additional recipes are conditional. They allow you to use slightly different materials. (See images section if you don't mind spoilers.)
Aside from crafting, there is another way to get new saving items. There is a 30% chance you will see that dream again (described in the note), and will receive an extra saving item upon waking up. You need to have a proper sleep, without interruptions though (=don't Tab out of the menu, sleep the full amount of hours chosen).
Compatibility
1. Not compatible with other mods restricting saving. Including, but not limited to Save by Journaling and Sleeping, Immersive Sleep to Save, No Saving in Combat SE, Hardcore Saving Overhaul, etc.
2. Mods with Death Alternative like respawning function are reported to interrupt the save blocking mechanics somehow. Sleep or activate the book to fix it.
My scripts here are based on Immersive Sleep to Save, so this is expectable. Personally, I use Wounds instead for narrative (and bug avoiding) purposes. I won't be adding extra scripting to prevent this compatibility related issue, it's likely to mess up something else.
3. Fully compatible with Go to Bed. Despite my expectations, both sleep related functions here are undisturbed.
4. Not all alternate start type of mods will work flawlessly. Alternate Perspective specifically is likely to cause an issue. It seems to be delaying the completion of Unbound quest, which will put you in a funny conundrum. Since you will only receive the note explaining the basics and one free saving item AFTER Unbound's finished, if you manage to sleep before that, you are likely to be locked from free saving, yet with no help or explanation. I might patch it at a later date, but one of the scripts would need to be redone, so I'm not particularly looking forward to that. Unless you want to make a patch yourself, you have console commands.
The note with explanation is called "Note to Self" and the saving item is called " Strange Book". You can also open the Create item menu from Campfire and cheat yourself a black soul gem, paper, quill, inkwell, and Bob's your uncle.
Other than that, it should be pretty highly compatible. Works perfectly with Optional Quick Start - SE.
Credits and Permissions are specified in separate fields, as usual these days.
