First Blender model I made hope you all enjoy it! If there is a combination you want made or a mistake I made let me know in the comments. each variation should(hopefully) be self explanatory from the file name but if you have any problems or questions I'll be happy to answer them. The base uses vanilla textures so it will change according to your textures
This Last release has Five different texture sets to change between them for those that don't know you need to download nifscope and run it through your mod organizer. In the right pane or view port left click on the mesh and it will highlight it, in the left top pane a #BSTriShape should be highlighted left click the arrow next to it to expand -> #BSLightingShaderProperty will show up left click the arrow next to that to expand -> and left click on BSShaderTextureSet. in the left pane below should be the texture paths left click to highlight then right click to bring up sub menu hover over "texture" and left click on "choose" this should bring up the file location where you can choose a different texture. notes: the textures always come in pairs and should be used that way winbrazier01.dds + winbrazier01_n.dds ? the top should not have extensions i.e. _n, _m, _e ? the second should have _n after if there is no texture there and you don't know what your doing you should leave it alone! ? the fifth is for cubemaps search for cubemaps on nexus if you want better ones or an easy way to change them(otherwise you have to unpack the skyrim texture bsa's. the cubemaps give a gloss to the textures and you can change this to whatever you like aslong as it from the cubemap folder you can also increase or decrease the effect by going to the #BSShaderproperty and in the lower pane changing the # next to "Environment" from "1" to "0.01"
This is one of the most confusing mods I've attempted to use I've no idea which plug-in I'm supposed to select. I'm using JK's AIO, Lux Great city of winterhold obsurers college of winter hold plus the cotn keep. The plug-ins titles are so short That it confuses me. I wish there was a FOMOD or we had these as separate patches
Hoping someone more familiar with BOS than me could tell me what to change so it doesn't also replace all of the candles floating above Obscura's College?
This doesn't use BOS, from the pic you submitted it looks like you're using an incompatible version, if your using a mod that doesn't have a compatible version then you'll have the choice of finding one that's close, using only the town replacer or waiting for a patch(I'd need to know the specific mod your using and right now i'm not really working on mods since i just got a new computer i need to set everything back up)
I didn't make a patch for that one so whatever patch version your using is returning records to that version, i.e. the changes in obscura are being overwritten with whatever version you used, you can try finding a patch that works but this mod just adds things it doesn't replace anything( except for the front braziers if you've installed a mod that adds them).
Learning some of this stuff myself so I actually appreciate having to do some tinkering myself. That being said it will really benefit from whenever you get the time to make a FOMOD. Until then manually working with the files isn't the end of the world, ty for the upload!
> appreciate having to do some tinkering where do you start?
i just want to install a mod .. and this comes with (checks) 35 ESP files, and wants me to build texture paths or something with nifscope before i even pick which super specific version i need to install.
couldn't this just .. man i don't know how to make mods - but couldn't this be done far simpler with Base Object Swapper?
it's a gorgeous design but says a lot only 1000 people have downloaded 🤔🤔
Well this is what I followed to figure out how to change textures around. Ihavent figured out which one or ones I need yet because I havent finalized my load order and mo2 just pooped its brains out and lost its backup somehow (is this possible? Did I delete it by accident? what a mystery) and I have to reorder like a thousand of these damn things again. Will update if I learn more.
Edit from many moons later: Did not learn anything other than the fact that all the textures look okay, but some look more okay than others. The way these braziers refract the light from the magelight beams at the college bridge just right imo. worth the little bit of effort to install for anyone on the fence about it.
yup, heard of them but didn't know how to go about creating one until a very kind mod author taught me about how you have to download it off of the fallout 4 page. Since I'm working on another mod right now when i publish that one I'll update this once at the same time since both will benefit from them and it's less work to do both at the same time
I could possibly make a patch but unless it adds braziers to the game itself one wouldn't be needed, this adds braziers covers to the light the light pools in the college and replaces braziers added by other mods in winterhold. I haven't actually looked into that mod since i'm on a laptop and that mod would probably kill my fps if it isn't done really well and i also kinda prefer cotn to that one imho
That works too, i personally found that different cubemaps look better with different textures so left instructions on how to change them but as long as you are happy with it. On my next upload I'll have the fomod with the different texture sets
I don't particularly care what anyone does with it as long as I'm credited and not "for sale", my personal feelings on permissions is that if all modders work together to make an overall better game instead of putting extreme restrictions on their work or on the work that others do with their resources we would have a better community and better mods being produced. I was thinking of making a Whiterun brazier basically a half upside down pyramid with horses cut out in the future but I will look into the db to see if an idea pops for me
You did amazing with this! Also, that is a lot of compatibility patches, I'm well impressed. One thing that might make your job easier in terms of compatibility however is using Base Object Swapper, hopefully, it can take the load off for not only this project but any future projects.
Base object swapper wouldn't really work since it works by replacing things and for everything in the college my mod adds it so nothing to replace, as for winterhold itself it would work but i actually had to rotate every model so it faces the right direction as well as adjust the height and location for both the model and the embers something i don't think BOS can do. Thx for the suggestion though!
This looks nice, but I'm a bit lost on which to choose. I am using Obscure's CoW AND JK's CoW with a patch between them. Plus I am using The Great City of Winterhold and Cities of the North with a patch between them. Which option should I pick for something like that? Yes, I know. Clusterf***. EDIT: Wouldn't a FOMOD be an easier installation option? I guess you haven't done a model before, so you may not know how. Not that I could help since I am functionally mod-illiterate these days.
i think your best shot is cotn jk's college, I don't know what tgc adds since i've never used it but my mod only affects the braziers on the path going up to the castle so there shouldn't be an issue, and jk's college and obscures is based on jk's though there might be four missing light wells but you can add them in fairly easily with creation kit just open all three (whichever version of my mod you use) jk's college OCW and the patch then find one of my braziers left click press E to bring up a move gizmo press ctrl D to duplicate move it where you want it press W to spin it rinse and repeat then save. as for fomod please understand I made my first mod learned creation kit -> learned blender because there wasn't a model i wanted to use -> created first model and second mod -> learned how to create textures because i couldn't find one i like for my first model now we are here. Yes I am in a learning process I will get better with time, after i got done making all 35 individual version i realized i probably could have just split them into their individual components instead of making 35 different version of the same thing i.e. one for jk's one for Immersive and so on
