Q: Is this compatible with my child overhaul? Skin texture? A: Probably not. Probably. Read the installation section in the description.
Q: Does this require a patch with mods that add new Child NPCs? A: Nope! None at all. It's just the vanilla children and nothing will break. If I come across something I want to edit, I'll be sure to make an expansion.
Q: How many textures are there? How many eye colors? A: Only two textures and 5 eye colors. I intentionally tired not to overdo it and keep it fairly simple. My time could be best used applying new tricks and ideas to the revision of my NPC overhaul as I'm working on it.
Q: The vanilla children look bad...! A: I'm not really looking to argue in the comments. This is what I use, you don't have to use it! If you want a recommendation, I personally think the default RS Children package is the best available.
Q: What is the _DISTR.ini? What is po3_SavageOffspring.ini? A: These are non-essential configuration files. _DISTR.ini distributes a key for Gralnach's house created by USSEP. All AI packages have been copied and included with this mod, so it would be silly to have a patch for something so minor. po3_SavageOffspring.ini is a modified configuration file for Savage Offspring SKSE. This ensures that the mod's default settings do not reset the aggression I set for each individual NPC.
Q: The children are pulling out their weapons! A: That's because you have Savage Offspring SKSE installed. This allows them to equip worn and nearby equipment to fight enemies. As an unintended side effect, the actors will still draw their weapons regardless of their aggression and confidence values. However, they will still follow their aggression and confidence values they are set as. And they will run away if they are low on health!
I haven't been to any major locations besides Whiterun - you know how easy it is to get caught up in quests there - but so far the mod seems to look great! Lucia is clearly the most adorable and best looking of the kids I've seen so far. 💖 This is just the sorta mod I was hoping for; it improves how they look while sticking close to vanilla. It seems to pair well enough with Nordic Faces (minus the textures) and Reverie Skin (for the ladies). Nobody looks like they couldn't have come out of the vanilla game.
Looking forwards to seeing other kids in different towns.
Some NPCs have much darker face than hands. No conflicts. It doesn't look like dark face bug that would come from incorrect load order anyway. Example affected NPC - Lars. By "no conflicts" I don't imply that the mod is broken, I'm just saying that I do have correct load order.
Thanks. I trust your feedback so I'll look at this mod again and adjust any wording in the description and installation to account for any issues people might run into.
But, Aventus, Lars, Mila, etc. are a bit buggy. And probably more. (But, I haven't checked). Idk what broke them in particular, though. Braith seems fine. Hroar is fine. Runa is fine. Sofia is fine. The girls in Markarth are fine (the miner and the silver smith).
Anyways, love this mod, but it's a bit bugged atm.
Coolio. I was just saying I liked the mod, but a few of the characters weren't working. It probably just was my mods conflicting or something. Idk. Maybe I'll reinstall it sometime. I cleaned out my mods the other day, I had waaay too many. Lol. XD
**Edit, tried it again and had the same issues as I had months ago. -_- So, yeah. Idk what's up. Probably mods conflicting.
*** 10/28 Edit --> I realized I don't have the "soft requirements" installed. Installing them now to see if that fixes it.
**** 12/8 Edit --> Ah-ha! I got the "EasyNPC" editor, and it fixed a LOT of the facegen bugs I was having in Skyrim!! :D I might give this mod another try, now!! :) *****12/8 Edit 2 --> IT WORKED!! :D Super excited!!
I would love to use this mod but I can't quite figure out how to get it to work with Nordic Faces. I'm getting face discoloration for Lars Battleborn but NF is pluginless so I can't have fix the facegen getting overwritten by adjusting my load order or even using SSEEdit
I don't use Nordic Faces, but according to its description it uses textures from Simple Children. That might be where you would want to investigate. It might be that these two mods are incompatible.
The issue is likely that the assets for this mod are in a bsa and not loose. If you extract the bsa and put this mod below Nordic faces, it should work.
Strange, i have memory about reporting blackface on mod childs with latest version. But now i see no post. So it is, bkackface on mod added childrens like olette from 3dnpc. Maybe because you renamed vanilla headpart to non vanilla? Idk.
