There seems to be a lot of confusion over this so I'll try to make this a definitive clarification post:

The player replacer is a stopgap for those who have DWC, and want to also change their player skin in addition, but don't want to use a more advanced mod like Moonlight Tales for that. It is just a stopgap for that niche case and not a mod that can be used on its own. It functions the same way any other werewolf texture replacer does, so using another werewolf texture replacer alongside DWC will have the same effect. While it works in a vacuum, I give exactly 0 promise that the player replacer will work in your modded game because there are tons of reasons, all specific to your combo of mods, why it wouldn't. The player replacer was never intended to be a part of this mod, and is only provided as a minor convenience for those who don't want to take the time to learn how and where to drag a file on their own. If it doesn't work as-is then you can easily figure out where the file should actually go or which mods are making a simple drag-drop solution ineffective. Honestly if the comments section continues to be a stream of questions about why the player replacer isn't working for you, the way it has been for a couple months now, I plan to remove it so that the conversations here can focus on the actual mod this page was created for: namely the DWC plugin.

Whether or not you're using the player replacer, if any other mod adds new werewolf spawns and DOESN'T use the vanilla leveled lists to do so (unlike More Werewolves), it will not be "diversified". Similarly if they add new werewolf transformation events to NPCs it will not be diversified. Similarly if the changes from DWC are partly or completely undone by a mod conflict / bad patch then the vanilla/MW werewolves will not be diversified. Many other mods add werewolves that will not be "diversified" and it is up to the player to identify and patch any such conflicts, or remove the conflicting mod, or just live with it.

Diversification may also fail for vanilla NPC transformation events if you install DWC after starting the game. Unfortunately I can't be more specific about the timing of installation, but if you do it before you start the game it will work (barring mod conflicts).

Regardless of whether you're using the player replacer or not, any werewolf that fails to diversify (for any of the above reasons) will have the same skin as the player. The diversification is what assigns them a different skin. Any non-diversified werewolf will use the same skin as the player.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/53566?tab=posts&BH=0 In this fashion, Aela has a regular werewolf skin. Probably need to make compatibility, are there any volunteers?

Has anyone experienced an issue where their player character is missing textures in beast form? This occurs when using the Fluffworks patch and without. It doesn't seem to impact NPCs like Aela and Sinding or random werewolves I've spawned in. If anyone has any advice on how to troubleshoot this, it would be most appreciated!

Is anyone having trouble launching the game at all when they download the mod? I am and could really use some tips.

so does this mod allow werebear transformation or you just get random werebear enemies?

This mod makes Aela invisible in the underforge if you have the Aela replacer from The Huntress Reborn installed. There needs to be a patch for the two mods.

      I'd recommend using

      • Shield Sisters - Aela NPC Replacer -Njada- Ria- for an Aela replacer. The invisibility bug is fixed for this and is the only Aela replacer that I know of to include this.

Hi, is there a way to edit Aela's werewolf skin? She keeps transforming into vanilla werewolf (I'm using AFT), even tough she used her ginger werewolf skin in the Underforge

I like this mod but it is not changing NPCs - Aela, Sinding, etc. - they have the default textures which change if I change my textures using DWC Player Replacer. The random werewolves/ bears spawned by the command work, I don't have any npc overhauls (bijin etc.) installed. Any thoughts?

Any one know how to get this to work with OBIS?

I got diversification working for vanilla werewolves but OBIS bandit werewolves still have the default player skin.

Same here, the OBIS bandits only use vanilla werewolf/werebear skins. It's probably because there are only a dozen or so vanilla NPCs who transform, and DWC gives each of them a custom skin. This mod wasn't designed to handle mod-added werebeasts that spawn in human form.

Sometimes a female werewolf NPC will spawn with a male body. This is because ogdw_ArmorAddon_WerewolfP001, unlike 2-28, isn't using the female world model. It's nestled between the skins for the Snowclad Ruins werebears, so you probably missed it when adding female werewolf compatibility in version 1.3.0.

So you said some of these changes are tied to quests. Aela's for example is tied to the quest "The Silver Hand".  Problem is, you can see her transform earlier than that if she is the one that goes with you for the "Proving Honor" quest, instead of Farkas.  In that quest, when she transforms, she turns invisible after the transforming animation, then is visible once human again.  Later on, when you get to the underforge in the next quest, her werewolf form shows up correctly.  Any fix or workaround for this?
